I got the same info as Jim...........They are the United States Navy Vets seeking tax deduc. donations- The hang ups are b/c no available person to talk to you, they are calling tons at a time...........great system HA.

They have called so many times, I can't count. I never answer and they never leave a message. It's getting really annoying.

So... Has anyone reported this "caller"...? So far I have gotten two calls from this number: one I actually answered the call but no response from the "caller" - a few seconds, then the "caller" hung up... The other one my voice mail picked up: no one said anything, but in the background someone was yelling (unintelligibly) and there was also other phone noise (the person holding the phone moving it around (or maybe adjusting their telemarketer headset?)) - this went on for about 10 seconds or so, then the call was disconnected...  If this really is some Navy vet orginization looking for donations they are not doing a very good job at it - they won't get anything from this vet...!

Called to inquire about a check I had reportedly had mailed. There was no such check.

Random dial to get pledges for U.S. Navy care packages.  I called the 888 number back and that is also what the voice mail said.  Apparently do not call numbers excluded...I think this is a scam....no reason for calling.
Hmmm I think the newsmedia, congressperson, or the attorney general's office should be alerted to this!

Received a call and no one answered. You could here background noise like someone setting down a headphone and moving around. Finally got tired of saying hello and just hung up.

This guy has called 9 times this week, knows our name and is a hard-sell trying to get money.  When I told him to "please remove us from his list" he continued his plea - I had to hang up on him!  Reported him on donotcall.gov too.

A call from 888-281-2409 was received by me on 3/11/08 and they said (after a long wait) that they were calling for the U.S. Navy. I thought it was a crank call but now see it just might be  a scam. Does the Navy need to resort to calling total strangers for any reason?! I sure hope not!

Received a call this morning, March 12.  Caller seemed surprised when I answered and fumbled around for a few seconds and then stumbled over my name...just my last name, no Mrs. or Miss and he didn't sound like a typical telemarketer.  Said he was calling from somewhere I couldn't make out and asked for money for care packages for the boys in Iraq.  I told him we contribute locally and hung up.

Hate these guys.  Boiler room hang up.

Collecting fot Navy Veterens Association.[***]. These people keep calling no matter what time. I finally talked to some man and when I told him to stop calling and he called me a rat.

I have had several calls from this number and no one answers when the phone is picked up and won't leave a message.

(888) 281-2409.  They identified themselves to me as "US Navy Veterans' Association".  The caller started out by asking, "Roger, how would you like to join the US Navy today?"  This gave me my cue to say, "No thank you.  I'm not interested" and hung up.  I searched for this organization at The Charity Navigator; Your Guide to Intelligent Giving web site (charitynavigator.org), a very reliable charity evaluator which gives important information, such as what percentage of their donations goes to the charity, and what percentage it keeps for itself.  Charity Navigator had no information on this so-called charity, which rang the alarm bells for me.  It is definitely not a reputable organization if it is unknown to Charity Navigator.
