Same thing happened today as John said above on Feb. 15.
They said it was to verify voice bundle and I never ordered Voice, just TV.
He said OK and asked my name and i said I wasn't going to give it to him because i did not know who he was. Then i checked here and see the same thing is happening to others.

Likewise, I got a call saying I needed to go through an automated system to accept a service agreement with Comcast.  The quality of the call itself was pretty bad -- almost like the caller was using a bad VOIP connection.  He did ask for me by name, though.

I asked what the agreement was for and why I had to agree to it, and he just said something about it being standard practice, but I couldn't exactly understand because the connection was so bad.  I asked if it could be done online, and he said no.

Finally, I said it was a bad time, and he said he would call back.  Thought I'd search around, and it certainly sounds like a scam.  You'd think that 888 numbers would be easily tracked in today's day and age, so criminal charges can be easily filed on guys like this.  Scary.

This is the same "Michael" as the previous post.  For the record, this number called me back today with the same spiel, and when I said I'd rather call Comcast myself or do it online they directed me to 1-800-COMCAST.  And when I called Comcast, they actually did confirm that I was supposed to agree to some Terms & Conditions.  Now, *that* turned out to be a mistake with Comcast's system, where I didn't actually need to agree to anything, but it does appear that the original caller was legitimate.  It's stupid that they can't figure out how to do this stuff online by now, though.

They call me multiple times a day and it always hangs up when I answer much like a stalker who wants to wear my skin.

Received call from 888-322-5932 claiming I needed to verify that I want my Comcast minimum term agreement, else my costs would go up.  They were honest enough to indicate they are NOT Comcast.  I went 'round and 'round with them, as I did start a minimum term agreement with Comcast near the end of last year and I am not able to see why I would need to reverify that I want it.

Finally I was transferred to their 3rd party verification, which identified itself as "Astonish".  They did have my name and my phone number and wanted to change my telephone carrier to xfinity, at which point I told them NONONONO, since my phone is a cell phone and xfinity cannot provide carrier service for a cellphone.  I have never had phone service from Comcast, either, just btw.

So what we have here is a slamming attempt.  I thought that had gone the way of dinosaurs, but apparently not.  I called Comcast to make sure no changes had been made on my account and was assured none had been.

I also received repeated phone calls from 888-322-5932. Then transferred to asonish. The just asked my name, year I was born and then trick you into saying Yes. I am unable to talk to anyone from comcast. Have I been slammed? What do you do when you have been slammed?

The guy who said the rep at 1800comcast said it was a legit call, check again. I've called Comcast twice about this number and both times the 1800comcast rep i spoke with said it wasn't an authorized number for their 3rd party companies, 99% sure it's a scam.

Yeah, just got a call from that number as well.  Same routine... ID'ed me by name, said they were from a third-party associated with Comcast, and patched me through to the automated service whereupon it indicated it wanted to transfer carriers.  It is definitely slamming, in slow-motion.  Don't give info to anyone!  If you call this number, you'll just get an auto-answering service that ID's itself as Comcast, then places you into an infinite loop of "all operators are busy..."

I gave them my birth year and name before I figured out it might be a scam and hung up.  Am I at risk for identity theft or something?

They've been calling me and hanging up daily for weeks now. Not sure how this helps their business. Every time I look up a number for something like this, it's always Comcast. I wish I had any other option for TV and Internet.

This is a scam. Do not give your info.
I got this same call from the supposed Comcast agent. The lady I talked to could not answer any question I asked her then transferred me to the 3rd party organization. I hung up and went to Comcast customer support and the actual Comcast agent confirmed my suspicion that these people are con artist. DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFO.

I just got this call too. I didn't answer it. After looking here and seeing what's been written, I called Comcast to inquire what it was about . Was also told it had to do with verifying my new package deal. Seems it was never verified and no contract was sent to me. Also was asked did I want to keep it as it is now. Answered yes. Was told that since I didn't have a contract sent to me that the early termination fee has been cancelled, but my service package will continue at the price I was given, as was stated by the rep I bought it from when I called to sign up.

I'm now concerned that since I don't have a contract that perhaps I should have an actual written one. Will go to the Comcast office tomorrow to get that.
