Not pretending - I have a past due PayPal BillMeLater account and the number is legitimately their collections department.  Now off to pay my bill!

..scammers are known to spoof legitimate numbers all the time!

It is a SCAM. They are claiming to be PayPal Credit. I called PayPal directly and they do not have any association with the number. They have been calling my cell 3 or more times per day for several weeks now. I called back and to was asked to verify my DOB and last 4 of SSN. I said I could not do that. Girl replied that she could not give me info without verifying so I told her just to mail it. Then she wanted me to give her my address and email to verify where to send it. I told her I could not do that but she was welcome to tell me what she has on file and I will tell her if it is correct or not. She said she couldn't do that either and couldn't get off the phone fast enough. Not that fast that I told her that paypal has been notified of the scam as well as the Attorney General and that if I ever received another call from them, I would also report it to the police for harassment. Also calling from 888-393-7162.

paypal  calls multiple times a day, no message.  called the real paypal and reported them.  I blocked them on my phone and now they come in on a different number.

Called my cell phone already on the Federal Do Not Call List,call 5-6 times a day with no message left,referred the number to US Attorney General's Office since their calling all over the country!

numerous calls, when answered, typically no one there, when not answered, not message left. today I answered and spoke with a woman, who mentioned the paypal account, I said I don't have one and will be reporting this to the District Attorney. She said they would remove me from the calling list...will report back...

Getting. Calls from number I answer never days. Anything..BLOCKED TODAY 🚫

Called me five times every hour today, drives me absolutely nuts. next time I answer I'm going to scream into the phone and see how whoever this is like that. Because from what I've read from everyone else, it's not actually Pay Pal. Don't give your money to this scumbag.

Numerous calls from this number several times a day. Rings one time then stop. It's listed as PayPal, but I know it's a scammer.

Calls me 10 x a day every minutes. Blocked this number call from another number.

This is PayPal, I am behind on my bill. They are very nice and will work with you if you talk with them .

This number keeps calling me and I'm under 18 so I dont know why they are.

I've gotten over 50 calls from this number over the last couple of weeks. However, it always hangs up before or right when I answer.

Finally got one to interact with my chat-bot (after multiple calls a day since my last post). It was really from Paypal Credit. Had nothing to do with me, though. As with others, they call repeatedly. Even if it's a debt collection, there's got to be something in the FDCPA about continuous calling and abandoning calls as being harassment. Another reason to avoid doing business with PayPal.
