- ron| 1 replyApparently this number is calling my dads house claiming I'm in big trouble and I have court on Monday and there hellbent on finding me. Yet my dad just returned to Michigan after being gone for over a year. And been here for 2 weeks. Get progresive voicemail.
- DeeI received a voicemail from "Unknown" caller this morning. The voicemail said someone had filed a complaint against me and they needed to verify my home address and place of employment in order to serve papers. In the meantime I could call this 888 number and reference the file number but if I fail to do so, papers would be served immediately. This 888 number is answered by an automated system stating you have called "Progressive."

- tayThis morning a unknown number called me and apparently this woman said I have been summoned to go to court and have been charged with breach of contract and defrauding a bank institution. She would not state where she was from and she asked if anyone had come to my house or job to serve papers. Then she gave me the number to Progressive and the extension was for their legal department. It was from a payloan I had in March. This is only a debt collection company. I found out that you have to at least receive a letter in the mail about any summons for court. This can not be done over the phone. I made payment arrangements with them. So dont let them scare you thinking you are in some big trouble. It is only a way to make you pay. Need more information my email address is sdupree22@yahoo.com

- JLSThis company called my elderly, ailing mother telling her there is court case against me and if she didn't return the call immediately she could be held responsible. Of course this scared the crud out of her and upset her terribly. Turns out it's from Progressive and it hasn't even been a month since I CANCELLED THEIR INSURANCE, and now they are harrassing my senior mother.
If you get a call from them, handle it with care. They are a lying and theiving company and the fact I have not even received a final bill from canceling but they are harassing a senior citizen speaks volumns of their character. They have my phone number and I'm the one who cancelled them. Why are they calling my mom? Because she has a landline and the same last name. ...Here is a brain teaser..Why haven't they just called me? They have my number? WATCH OUT AND PROTECT YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS!- Caller: Progressive & Associates

- OMGthey called me from an unknown number which I don't answer and left me a message about they are going to serve me blah blah blah. Then they called my friend and harassed her trying to find me and even cursed at her. I gave her their number and it is Progressive law services (not insurance). They are threatening which is illegal. a real company wont threaten to serve you, they will just serve you. and you can't be arrested for defaulting a loan of any kind. If you are taken to court for some debt, it will be just to set up pay arrangements so the judge can tell you that you have to pay back. however, they have to justify to the judge why they are charging you double what you owe and most likely he will dismiss it if it is unreasonable.

- AnonymSome woman named Sam Doodie called my home phone and left a message in regards to a case about my sister that was being sent to court. She left the number 888-395-7367 and the case number, so I called. The automated system said Progressive so I'm thinking its the car insurance. When I press 0 and give the rep the case #, she won't give me any information because it does not pertain to me. I call back and the same person picks up, I asked her how I cannot get any information when they are calling my home phone leaving information for my sister. I tell her that if I am left a message that she needs to talk to me. After raising her voice and saying that she will see my sister in court, she hangs up the phone on me. I call back and speak with another rep to explain how I was threatened and hung up on. That rep said exlained some things and when I said I didnt not want to contact my lawyer about this matter a lawsuit, for them not to contact me anymore, and for them to do their jobs and find my sister on their own; she also hangs up on me.
Be forewarned: this is the new debt collection tactic! They try to scare you into giving up your family members information. It is not your responsibility, they should be formally mailing paperwork and not threatening, harassing, or using scare tactics. Stand your ground and inform them that you know your rights.- Caller: Progressive Debt Collection

- ahh| 1 replyI too received a call from this company/number at my work. They identified themselves as being from my county courthouse and were going to be out to serve me papers to appear in court in regards to frauding a financial institute. They stated i had the right to not be served at work and could call 888-395-7367 to work out a new location. I called, all they could do was work out payment arrangements. I was terrified at the time so i gave my debit card info. I'm now going to cancel that debit card. This whole mess started because i was only looking up payday loans online and next thing i know 2 days later some random company put money in my acct without ever talking to me... or allowing me to agree to the terms. it's my stupid fault but theyre tactics are wrong as well.

- FYI replies to ahhFYI...it is illegal for a company to threaten to serve you or identify themselves as someone who they aren't. If they say they are going to serve you then ignore it because your county clerk will not call you to give you a heads up, they would want to catch you when you least expect it. This is just another way for them the third party collectors to try and get their money back for what they bought the debt for. It is a good idea to always google the number before you call them to see if it is another scam. I received a deposit from a pay day loan company just for looking at their website, luckily I called them and demanded they reverse the deposit and let them have a few choice words for doing that without my consent. Don't let these companies scare you. It's a wise choice that you are cancelling your debit card. Good luck!
