- Caller: Unknown
- Ron| 1 replyI have been receiving unwanted and unsolicited calls from a telemarketer even after registering with the national DO NOT CALL system. It is terrible. When I call the number back, the gal who answered calmly denied that anybody ever called my cell number at all. She stated "Your number is not in my computer system". To which my response was "I'm calling the number which is showing up on my caller id, is it possible that you computer is not linked with others in your system?" She proceeded to say something rude to me and then hung up on me.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- College Student| 1 replyI have been receiving calls from this number on average of about twice weekly. My cell service has stated there is nothing they can do to block the call. I'm pissed off at not being able to block this call. I'm registered with the national DO NOT CALL REGISTRY and the calls still come in.
I think the 888 system doesn't care about the fines imposed.- Call type: Debt collector
- College Student replies to RonI have been getting the same message as you have been. I even gave her a "bogus" number just to see if the calls would start coming in on the "bogus" number even after I told her to remove them from her system. Even though I had not received any calls on the "bogus" number before calling her, I began receiving them after calling her.
Go figure this out. We're all in the same position here. We must stop this number from being out there. - Tired of this (#*$That method of making them stop rarely works, they're allegedly some JP Recovery who by Googling you can also find agressive colelction agent help wanted ads for. They've been ringing me, 1-2 rings tops, hangs up before you can even answer the thing - no message, no nothing. The Gov't needs to make ways to nail these idiots, something like these reporting systems right here! Too many reports, you get nailed. My #'s on the DNC, but since they're 'collections' they live outside those laws and fines and get away with this!
- Caller: JP Recovery
- Call type: Debt collector
- BobKeeps calling, never leaves a message. There should be a law against that!
- jadal| 3 repliesI called them back and they told me they won't remove my name from their list unless they call back because there were several people who had this number before me. I am not who they are calling for and I have charges on my cell phone every time they call. This is not right.
- Call type: Debt collector
- jadal replies to jadal| 1 replyThey just called me back and told me there was no list to be taken off of and if someone uses my nuber they can keep calling me as much as they want too.

- MnDtn| 1 replyOnce again, I've read an entry here about the National Do Not Call list as a registry you sign up for so noone calls your number.. You really should read the info on that site. That's not how that list works at all. you have to enter each and every number that calls you that you want stopped [debt collections agencies are EXCLUDED from that law, by the way].
One does NOT 'register my name'. And, there is no real guarantee that submitting a number that called you will accomplish anything. My guess is that the NDNCR is overwhelmed. Try the FTC directly, maybe. - mamajb| 3 repliesok the DO NOT CALL registry only works for telemarketers and/or solicitors. Debt collectors are NOT telemarketers or solicitors. Hence, they do not fall under the DO NOT CALL registry. To get them to stop calling, answer phone and state clearly DO NOT CALL. By law they are not allowed to return any more phone calls. You can also ask or google them to get their address. Send a certified letter with receipt and copy that you want your name/number/address/all contact removed from their system. If they violate this it is extremely against the FDCPA collection laws and they can be taken to court for possible minimum fines of $1000 each and/or dismissal of your debt(provided you had a debt with them). Whn dealing with any 3rd party collection agency, proof is the key. Be sure to check if your state has what is called 1 party recording regualtion and you can record any and all phone conversations with them. If you have a 2 party regualtion state then just be sure you advise them at the beginning of the phone call that you are recording. Record dates and times of phone calls, names if possible, and always ask for verification of the debt. If they get lippy, send the request by certified mail, just make sure you keep a copy and the receipt. Always keep copies and prove the harassment. The law system is debter-friendly when it comes to FDCPA violations. These are taken very seriously. You can read more on these laws on the FTC website and also if just google FDCPA.

- MnDtn replies to mamajbAlso, one does not 'register my name' on the Do Not Call list. you do register to USE it, to report each call you are having a problem with. It is not a passive listing where you put in your phone number and the parties can't call anymore. this seems to be a common and persistent misunderstanding of the National Do Not Call list for reporting telemarketers. Debt Collectors, as this not points out, are exempt.
- Rebecca Porterkeeps calling
