- one pissed-off dudeI have received 2 calls from that same number looking for my ex-wife whom I have not spoken with in about 12 years. I have not had this phone number for 12 years and when I asked how they got my number I was hung up on was told that there 2 Felony cases being issued for my ex and if I knew where she was. When I told them yes but I would like to know what the charges were I was told it was a private matter and I was not privy to the charges. Again I asked where they were located and they told me they were in Atlanta, GA. and they were a 3rd party consultant. I am so pissed-off at these lowlife people trying to scam hard working people out of their hard earned money. The extention I was giving was 0057 but she almost gave me a different ext of 004?... do not give any info to these low lifes but tell them you are going to contact the Authorities and hang up.

- TomThese guys called me last week and left a voice mail saying that I was a defendant that they were looking for. They also called my ex wife( I see they are able to locate ex's via the internet phone number) and left the same message on her phone. I contacted the sheriffs department who then told me that this definitely IS a scam and that I should contact both the FTC and my states attorney generals office. I did and they are saying do NOTanswer your phone if this number comes up or call back the number that these idiots are saying to call back. They will simply try to scam you and then they will sell your number to some other dirtbag company that will try to collect on some debt that has been either made up or written off. I have no debt owing anyone money so I have no idea who these jags are looking for or why they are bugging me. Again, as others have stated, you cant be served on the phone. See Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

- ChrisReceived a message on my work phone from a local number with a caller id name of Husqvarna, but was told to call back to 888-408-9651. She said her name was Veronica Newman and she spoke the name of the company name fast but it sounded like Holland Dempsey and Assoc. She stated that there was a pending court case in her office and that needs immediate attention from me or my attorney regarding 3 charges and possible warrants against me. She then gave me a case number and said good luck to you maam. I have no idea what this is about and I have received no paperwork for anything. She won't state who the client is either. I don't anything and I have no intention of calling them back. I have lived in the same place for 15 years so they can send valid paperwork if they want my attention. Bottom Feeders!!!

- deft1| 1 replyMy brother received a call from 951-246-6331 from a guy called Craig Jordan asking him for my information so they could locate me. He was told that I owed money to a check cashing service and that I had 24 hrs to respond or else they would take me to court. The number he gave to call back was 888-408-9651 x. 0071. Well, I immediately knew it was a scam because I don't owe any money, and I have lived at the same address for several years. Anything legitimate would have come in the mail. Beware! These people are just trying to intimidate you and confuse you...IT'S A SCAM!!!

- Alfalfa replies to deft1The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- WHarvey replies to C Hines| 2 repliesJust do like I did. Call them back repeatedly asking questions about their company, they can't answer. They got pissed after the 10th call & would not answer any longer. Also, why do only black females work for this company? If it's a law firm why are there no attorneys available to verify this information. Win the battle over these scammers. Keep fighting!

I don't trust anyone over the phone or the internet. They said to get ahold of Amanda Jo at ext 0014. The recording said it was a pre- trial something I dunno all I know is that I'm a not stupid. - Marie replies to WHarvey| 1 replyWhat kind of questions do you ask them? I am tiered of them calling me.
- Wayne replies to Marie1. If they are a law firm ask the attorney's name & bar number, which is public information.
2. ask what is the licensed name of their business. You can then call the city to find out if this a real business or just a game out of someone's garage.
3. Default on a payday loan is not criminal, so if they are threatening you with arrest ask them what statute you have violated.
Don't let them scare you. - Wayne replies to Josie JacksonApparently they have my phone number flagged. I attempted to reach this person and every other one I've spoken with but no one is available. This is a scam. They said they are located in Austin, TX but there is no licensed business by the name they have provided. Call them back to let them know you can't be intimidated by their ignorance.
- Sick of thisreceived a call from a 916# saying that a court case being filed and if I do not respond I will have a warrant out for my arrest. I told them that I must by law be informed by mail, they said they did not have to do that. Cash Mart is the company that I supposedly owed money to (never heard of them) was required to inform me. The "company" is called Dempsey & Holland Associates out of Atlanta GA, and the person I spoke with said her name was Katherine Walters. They did have some of my personal information which I did not verify...this is a little scary and it is getting too be a bit too regular.
