What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.
Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:

you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.
Debt collectors may not:

give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn’t; or
use a false company name.
Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt – or your state law – allows the charge;
deposit a post-dated check early;
take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or
contact you by postcard.

I received a call from a Thomas Lukine?  On 4at stating I had until 11 am today to call him or a Detective Anderson back or they would issue a subpoena against me on 2 criminal charges. He also mentioned my brother and sister-in-law by name stating they would testify against me. He stated he was from Jackson and Greenberg and was a warrant officer with the financial affairs division and was going to file with my local county clerk. I spoke to my local PD and an officer actually called the number back and the guy told him I owed $13,000 in payday loans. I laughed because last year I did apply for a payday loan but never received. These guys are scam artists. They did have the last 4 digits of my ss# but could not tell the officer what the whole number was. The worst part is they called my parents leaving the same message which legally they are not allowed to do and freaked them out. In this case the number used was 1800-298-7151. Don't give them any info. As the officer told me no one will come to your house and arrest you for not paying payday loans. You will be notified by certified mail if it is legit!

'Got a phone message from a Mike Carter from Jackson Greenburg and Associates threatening legal action and jail for supposed criminal action. A family member asked me what the heck was going on. We have no outstanding debts, no travel violations, robbed a bank or anything so I had no idea what the matter was. When I called back, this person accused me of taking out some kind of loan from a company I never even heard of. When I asked for verification so I could address what I knew to be an error, this man said he couldn't mail me anything in writing or give me the address of the debtor he supposedly represented. I hung up on him. There is obviously something fishy here with this Jackson Greenburg and Associates, whoever they really are. No legitimate company would leave such a phone message or act like this.

It's a payday loan scam run by criminals in India. Ignore the calls, there's NOTHING they can do to you.

if u owe a payday loan then pay it back yes things happen but when u hide behind ur phone and dont contact the people handling the matter then yes ur trying to hide from ur problems and bills/////

I have payed over $2000 to them,for payday loans I had taken online ,wayyyy more then I had taken out loans! I did not take the loans because i'm lazy to work and don't intend to pay them back.i beat cancer 5 times ,needless to say what I been through!the loans were taken out due to a financial hardship!and they're my responsibility!these peole mike carter just to name one of them has booked off over $2000 from my account in monthly payments of $50 .I never gotten anything in writing either.but I do have all my bank statements that I did pay! i'm done ...closing my account and open a new one! thanks to everyone for your posts it helped me to find out that these guys are just a fake!

I just received a call today from a Sharon Jackson. The caller ID number was from Georgia and they were representing Vandelier Group. She was so rude and when I asked her a question she was very smart about it and kept saying "where you not listening to anything I said." Then I told her she was coming at me wrong and she said "well im not customer service." I told her that was obvious. She hung up on me and I called back she was rude and awful. She kept telling me that when she let the line release she was going to issue the warrant for my arrest. This is unbelievable phone harassment. I have a job and pay my bills and these people took out so much money the bill was paid off. So they need to stop harassing everyone. Has anyone heard of a company called solomon&metro they have been harassing me and my coworkers i tryed to google them and it doesn't. Come up as a collection dept

I received a phone call stating that they deposited funds into my account in  2013 to an account that has been closed since 2011. Of course the so called representative of Universal became hostile in his tone and I became hostile too and told him good bye. Called my former bank and they indicated no activity on the account other than my car loan. This sit at home and work crap ain't for everyone. Get a real job before you get scammed by a real scammer.

I continue to have these problems after 7 years  please someone stop them- I am getting tired of them calling my home and threatening my son and myself

after 7 years, I am still getting calls and it needs to be stopped- the debt is settled and they refuse to show me any written paperwork showing the debt is valid.  I agree  - arrest me or serve me papers
