Tried to return their calls several times before I managed to reach someone. They said they are a collection agency.

CBA continually calls everyday (several times a day) for a person who is not and has never been at the address/phone number.

I refuse to return their calls since it may be a scam.

We got a call from CBA indicating that we were sent to collection for an unpaid At&T bill from 2005. They were willing to reduce the bill by 50% if we paid today.  They wouldn't offer any information about the unpaid bill and ultimately hung up after we started questioning them about the charges.

I have gotten a kajillion calls a day from this number with a barely understandable message left each time.  They've never said who they were.  I figure I pay all the bills I get via athe mail, and if anyone wants payment they need to send a bill to me or at least identify themselves if they call.  One time I did get so annoyed I called back and the phone answered and I was put on hold then asked to leave a message.  I left a message that I did not know who they were but I was just calling to say I was never going to call them again if they did not identify themselves.  They finally said on their message today that they were CVA or CBA - I could barely understand.  I called and a nice enough woman named Jen looked it up and said they were calling about an old DSW (actually it was Sparkletts or Arrowhead but DSW was the company who owned it, I guess) water bill for $182 or something for a cooler and bottles I returned in January 2007.  As a matter of fact I did finally stop paying and tried to stop delivery of the water because I had accumulated much more water than we could ever drink.  I finally asked them to just come pick up the cooler and bottles and then credit me and I would pay the difference.  But they said no, they wouldn't pick up the cooler until I paid the past due amount, and I would keep accumulating late fees on top of it if I didn't pay.  So I ended up doing that, except for the cooler amount they had charged me, which they said was OK, and would be credited back as soon as I paid and they picked up the equipment.  They came to pick up the equipment, and should have done that.  I truly don't owe them a cent.  But they apparently turned it over to collection and never let filled them in on the fact that it was paid and the cooler had been returned.  Jen said she was sorry they had been calling me, she would order an itemized statement and let me know of any balance actually owing if any.  Sheesh.  All they had to do 9 months ago was send me a statement and I would have filled them in on all this - instead they've called about a dozen times a day every day while I'm not home.

Company called "CBA" automated service calling me leaving messages every day for a person not at our number, gives me phone number 888-454-5310 to call back with a reference # 11049223. I don't want to call back for fear it's a scam.

keeps calling my cell phone leaving messages at all hours of the day and when i finally called found someone rude who hung up on me rather than take care of the issue.  whoever employs them should reconsider.

CBA Calls me at least once a day. They just state their company name and a referance #. They don't say what they want and I'm not behind on any bills so I don't return their calls. Now that I read these other posts I never will.

If a company wanted a bill paid they would send U.S. Postal mail (registered mail if they wanted to take you to court). I do not answer phone calls from
computers; that is just like South African email scams.

There should be laws against this. I just got a call at 11:20am on Easter Sunday from an automated message saying to call CBA. They didnt sat who it was for or what it was about....I guess because it was a generic prerecorded message.

We watch our credit diligently and I know that the only "collection" we have is a cell phone bill from 2002 with AT&T which we have disputed and won. Heck, we have AT&T cell and land now and have for years. This bill was when we made the switch from the old analog cell (CDMA or TDMA??) to digital (GSM). For some stupid reason we had to start a new account and the old one was paid when we got the closing bill.

Anyway, it really fries my A$$ that they call on EASTER!!!!

I think they're for real.  A for real collection agency.  It seems my cell phone number used to belong to some deadbeat going by the name Julius Irving (yeah, like Dr. J - who would give credit to someone using that name thinking without thinking 'is this a fake name'?)  When I get them on the phone and say "the deadbeat you're looking for isn't at this number, he's a phoney" (whatever) the phone calls stop.  For month.  Until the deadbeat fills out some more credit apps using my cell phone number.  [***].

I had been receiving the same calls for over 3 weeks now.  I couldn't stand returning home to listen to another automated message from them, so I decided to call the 888 number this morning and someone answered within a couple rings. (The number on the caller ID was 510-781-5100, but the number they left on my answering machine was 888-454-5310) I just gave them the reference number that was left in the message and requested that my phone number be disassociated and deleted from the reference number and "Maria" (the name of the person who they were looking for...).  Hopefully I'll never receive another call from them again.

I keep getting calls from 510-781-5100.  They say to call back 888-454-5310.  They are looking for "Kimberly".  I do not know a Kimberly.  When I finally got fed up after about 10 calls, I decided to call them back.  The woman was very nice and said she would remove my cell phone number from the system.  We'll see if I continue to get calls or not.

I just got this ame call with 888.454.5310 and a reference number.   i called back and spoke with this guy who said the message was for vanessa. he then asked  if i lived on some street near irvine......um no...i dont. i asked him to note it and not to call back again.

Collection Bureau of America - also initiates phone calls from 888-655-9285...888-656-9285 AND 510-781-5100!!!

I have the no call solicitation set-up. the call was computer voice activated.  the message instructed me to call 1-888-454-5310, stated "CVA" calling.  I have no debts, no payments to be made on credit at all, never have been late in payments.  This is some sort of scam and I won't reply.
I found by googling that this caller is contacting others as well without cause.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this?  I have an unlisted phone number.

CBA is real and so is that number. I guess ATT likes to use them to collect money. ATT sucks at letting you know you have an outstanding balance when you move residence. ATT told me I was in the clear before I moved and now I have been getting tons of calls from CBA. I just resolved everything with ATT this morning...and yes I did actually owe something. oops!

CVA has been calling without providing any information about who they are or what they want.  After reading the water suuplier issue from another person, I realized that this is the same issue that I'm having with Crystal Springs. They kept agreeing to correct my bill each time I called but kept billing me incorrectly.  I paid only what I owed. They never contacted me and never picked up the equipment even though I contacted their customer service department more than five separate times. So, I guess by abondoning their equipment, I have aquired a water cooler and 5-gal water gallons for free. People should stop using these companies to force these practices to end.

On my Vonage Visual Voicemail email message I got this:

"This message is for Shirley Trinidad. I am calling from CBA. Please call back on 1-888-454-5310. When calling back, please refer to 11709425. Once again, our call back number is 1-888-454-5310. Thank you."

Someone reported that CBA was calling from 510 area.  That's San Fransisco-Oakland.  Very near me in north bay.

I'm going to bill them for the call.  I'm a computer network consultant, and I'm going to charge them $125 per call as a "Automated Computer Calling test Service".

Last call received from 888-656-9294, 10/9/08 at 2:28 p.m. referred me to 888-454-5310 with a different reference number than that left on 10/08/08 and other times.  

It seems like (from reading the messages left on the different 800notes, WhoCalledMe, etc. sites) the same companies are calling folks all over the country with the same spiel and scam.  All I know is that I am really tired of getting calls from 702-853-1710 (ACA), 510-781-5100, 888-454-5310, 888-656-9294,(also connected to 888-655-9285),  425-885-2838 (American Income)888-892-2253 (Time Warner), 888-292-2253, 303-255-5173 (World Financial National Bank, 913-563-5510--along with a bunch others I can't recall.  I do not owe anyone, never had a student loan, do not know the people they say they are calling for, etc.  

I'd like to know how to get back at them--especially when they won't say anything.

10-11-08 8:21 a.m.  Recorded message using my last name and unintelligible first name. Left return phone number and reference number.  I have no upaid debts, so this is likely mistaken identity or fishing for information.
