- JackI get a message, the lady said that call is from CVA, ask a guy i never know call back, the phone number is:1-888-454-5310
- Kristina FranzThey call over and over :-O and they are driving me nuts. They say they are CBA - gives their phone number - please call them back - gives me a reference number and repeats the phone number. The are collecting on a surgical medical bill that Stanford failed to sent to my two insurers back in 2006 in a timely fashion, even though I told them at the time I had dual coverage. I will not be liable for their error.

- GeorgeHave been receiving partial computerized message for a person named Christine Olson (?) to call them back. However, the computerized message was not fully received by the answering machine, thus did not leave their number. Happened to be home when they called today and wrote down their number 888-454-5310 (did not have time to write down the reference number). I called the number and person at other end answered "CBA." I told them I had been receiving these calls from them but I do not know any Christine Olson. Person responded he would remove my number from computer system. I asked what is CBA. Person responded it does not concern me or words with that intent and hung up. I hope that they truly do remove my number from their data base.

- spudWe are getting those calls from CVA or CBA for several months now. They are calling about two people whom we don't know in the first place, and never hear of them. It is really annoying, they leave automated message too. They were told we don't know those people, and promised to remove our number from their registry, but they didn't. HELP! What to do? We were thinking of changing our telephone number, but why to go through the trouble of notifying all the people and institutions of the number change? It is so difficult for them to stop calling?

- Rach replies to TerriThis company was attempting to collect a debt from someone other than me. This company called my cell phone every day and left a call back reference number. Finally I was able to make out what the automated recording had been saying and I called them back. The first operator refused to tell me what company she worked for. I demanded to speak to a supervisor. I began to explain the situation and before I got three words out - she hung up. I typed in the phone number that was left on the recording and that is how I finally learned who the company was.
I am filing a formal complaint with the FTC regarding their unlawful debt collection practices. Furthermore, I am writing a letter demanding compensation for the minutes off of my cell phone that have been erroniuosly used up.
I highly encourage everyone else to do so as well.
Here's the link.
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en - -----Called me multiple times...I refused to answer for a while, but then I finally received a voice mail telling me to call back with a reference number. I called them back and they said I owe money for a apartment that I lived at like almost 2 years ago. It was for DeAnza Properties. I told the collections agency to send me information via mail so that I could take care of the matter. I also mentioned that I have copies of the checks used to pay my debt to DeAnza, so I couldnt possibly owe them anything. I also told them that DeAnza actually owes me money, and they refuse to return my phone calls. Once I said that I was going to contact DeAnza directly, they told me not to. 2 months later, I have a collections mark on my credit, have still received no letter regarding the issue, and i constantly see "missed call from 888-454-5482 or 888-454-5310" on my phone, with no voice mail.
Does anyone have a mailing address for this company?- Caller: Collections Bureau Of America

- ksReceived a phone call 4-30-09. Since my # has been unlisted for 19 years, and I have NEVER been late on one payment ever, I am assuming this is a SCAM. I wonder how they got my phone number and name.

- SandraI received a phone message for a person with my last name and an unintelligible first name, with a reference number 13198068. I was planing to call back to let them know I thought it was a wrong number and decided to Google first, we have no outstanding or late debts, so it must be a "fishing" system, trying to collect money from anyone who will fall for it

- Frustrated!!!The number 888-454-5310 has to be a fraud! My mother was on the phone with them and when she tried to have them talk to me, they hung up! I called them back and yelled at an associate and she kept telling me that we didn't make a payment even though I repeatedly told her that Time Warner says we don't owe a dime! I called Time Warner and the amount this agency is asking for isn't anywhere in our account record with Time Warner! Idiots! They're a fraud...

- Jerry888 454 5310 call back number. 17 June 2009 They announced themselves as CBA. After I entered the reference number they gave, a machine message said they were calling about my "delinquent account" with ATT Nevada. Then they asked how I would like to pay: credit card, phone, etc. Pretty obvious scam. I've never had an account with ATT Nevada. (The "nevada" part seems to be their addition, the company uses the name ATT here.)

- ErinI received a call from "CVA" or "CBA" couldn't quite tell from the recording. I tried to call several times and each time it would ring once and then call was cut off before anyone answered. I then looked up the number online and found a number of complaints about this company and that it was a collection agency. As far as I know I have no outstanding balances on any accounts or previous accounts so I am not even sure why they are calling me.

- GarbledDThe name of the person they wanted was garbled ( on purpose). The Company name was CVA or CVB and the call back # was 1-888-454-5310 with a reference # 1174- - - -, and that entire reference was included in the complaint made to the do not call list.

- EdI was called by a woman stating she was calling from CBA and, as all the other posts indicate, was given the 1-888-454-5310 number to call along with the reference #1325.... I was advised that it was imperative that I call as soon as possible. I called the number and entered the reference # and was told(by a recorded voice) that I was delinquent on a payment of $180.00 and I needed to pay the due amount to avoid any problems in the future. She told me I could settle the debt with a credit/debit/check through their automated system because no live person was available. She stated if I wanted to leave a message I could do so at the tone and someone would get back to me at some other time. I was informed to leave my name, phone# and a message. I told her they would know my phone # since it was captured by their system, did not tell them my name and left them a scathing voice mail in which I said that I had no intentions of paying a penny to them since I don't owe them any money and, besides, only an idiot would give out his/her credit card number without knowing what the money was owed for and to whom it was owed. I did tell them to go f*** themselves as I ended the call and to please save themselves their time and energy by not calling me again because I will never answer the phone when that number comes up on my caller ID. I will report the call to the FCC.
These companies buy these debts and try to collect them by any means possible. It is considered harassment and is a federal crime to use the phone for this purpose. It is possible that another man in the town where I live has incurred this debt because I have been called many times about debts he owns(one was for $12K to Discover) and the live caller tried to verify it was me by the last 4 of the SSN he had on file. It wasn't even close to being mine. The gentleman was very nice and removed my name and I have never heard from him again. This man has caused me trouble since 1976 when I was refused a bank loan due to bad credit. I had to go to the local credit bureau and have them remove the charges from my name and place them on his account. The stupid credit bureau put them under my SSN instead of his. The IRS has called me about my wife's and my delinquent taxes but it turns out they don't bother to look at SSNs or who my dependents are either. The woman they referenced wasn't my wife and the IRS did clear my name on that one.
I would suggest anyone getting a call from this company do as I did. I will save any calls they leave on my recorder for future reference.- Caller: Collection Bureau of America

- jtowner64We have been getting calls AGAIN for "mumbled first name" and our last name. We have no debts out for collection and we aren't filing bankruptcy. Nothing works - reporting these people, reporting the number, etc. They just get another name and number and start calling again. It is an automated call, not a "live" person who tells me to call 888-454-5310. I tried that this morning and after the intial message that I would be transferred to the next available operator, there was another message that all operators are busy, please try your call again during "normal business hours."

- Mike| 4 repliesReceived a call at 7:54PM Saturday via automatic device. It did not identify who they were calling for, or who they were. The original call was from 855-691-0191, and their message directed me to call back to 888-454-5310. I did that, and received another message that no one was available and that I should leave them a message. I asked them to remove my number and stated that I was very upset for a call at 7PM on a weekend evening. I called back today and a lady answered stating Debt Collection of America. I told her I was calling to complain about the previous call and wanted them to remove my phone number from their system. She said she would and would also direct my complaint to their upper management. I logged this in case it happens again.
