I called them back.  They've been calling my mother, even though I haven't lived there in over ten years.   I spoke to someone (couldn't tell if it was male or female, very androgynous voice), who was utterly rude, called me names (including a worthless piece of crap), cursed at me, and kept threatening me with a summons.  They also made the mistake of admitting to me that it's over five years since there has been activity on the account, and since PA's statute of limitations is four years, I am not all that worried.
Very mean people, though.

I got a similar call today and the person's name was "Chad Thomas."  He mentioned serving me with papers at my place of employment or at home.  Were you actually served with papers?

I also got calls from this number (all recorded), really wierd and they also call my ex which even has a new phone number...Chad Thomas also was the name, who is this and papers really served? Concerned.

Wow.  My mom got a call from Chad Thomas today, with the same phone number, same voice mail.  That a "case had been filed" against me...

I googled Chad Thomas and 888-487-9932 and discovered, to my surprise, two hits.. one to this site, and another to a credit site.  Everyone seems to be getting the same calls from Chad Thomas, or whatever his/her name really is.... and it looks to me like Chad and his group are simply bone headed criminals... hoping to scare the innocent into a quick payment or personal data.  These guys can not be legitimate debt collectors.  I'm going to ignore the voice message... and "Chad," if you're reading this....  bite me.

I also got a call, the same BS, don't let them scare you, first of all if you were getting served papers
they DO NOT call you first!!!!!  that is total BS, another collector trying to scare people into opening up contact with them which in turn resets the statute of limitations because now the contact restarted it!!
do not call them ,  do not be afraid, they are preying on people's fears and lying to scare us all!

They are all liars. They cannot call and harass you or any family members. Turn them into the FCC. You may be entitled to compensation.

Exact same message. I don't owe anybody any money, so it's clearly a scam of some kind.

Second message from Bad Chad in 2 weeks. I want to encounter him and gut him like a deer.Oh my!

This number constantly calls and bother me and its a scam to collect my money and personal info. Its calling me by a name I havent used in 15yrs

Just got the same bogus call from "Chad Thomas" regarding "Will E. Lawrence, case #945910." The scammers are on a roll this November.

Just got a call from a recording says it is Chad Thomas and that he is trying to serve legal papers for a bad check that was written. And then gave me case #974814 to refer to when I call back to let them know when they can serve me my summons, either at home or at my place of employment. And to know that I have been "officially" notified. YEA OK! I find it funny how they say I've written a bad check, yet, I have my payments set up on my account where the bank sends the payee the check directly!!!

Got the same call a few minutes ago, Are these guys for real? I just got a new number and how did they get it.  I am reading everyone's notes and we are all saying the same thing.

Same call from Chad. I hope he dies in a fiery car crash. This is supposedly for a debt from a two year old bankruptcy. I have repeadedly given them my attorney's name and case #. the original company keeps selling the debt in hopes that I will just get sick of them and pay.  In this time of Christmas love and harmony, I wish them tumors and pain. Disgusting behavior.

I got the same message from Chad Thomas regarding a summons and that he wanted to set up an appointment to meet with me. He's in Florida and I'm from California, so yeah! whatever...I think they are low-life people trying to scam and scare people!

The other day on friday december 2nd i received a call from avid newman and associates saying that they were going to be serving me a summons at my place of employment at 5pm that day and the lady that called me was Maria Paz.Of course i fell for it and my boyfriend put the 100.00 payment on his debit card and now these people not only have my money but they also have his account information.The number she called from was also 1-888-487-9932 ext.202 which is for Maria Paz.I even talked to a private investigator about it and they even told me that if you are going to be served with a summons they never call you and tell you when and what time it is going to be served.They said it is a SCAM and not to give them anymore money.One other thing that my boyfriend and i discovered when he called the bank that the money was taken out by diversified proamherst not avid and newman and associates.

Just receieved a call from "Julie" at Avid and Newman, 888-487-9932 threatening once again with the serving of papers on a suppossed loan that I receievd in 2010.  She had an incorrect social secuirty number, and when I asked for a Debt Validation Letter, she said she could not send me one until I agree to make a payment.  Bogus.  She then said she was sending the court appointed person to serve me papers.  Harrassment!

I am so sorry to hear this!  Obviously, close that bank account TODAY.  They will keep taking money whether you authorize it or not!  Good luck!
