Just received a mobile call from 1-888-498-8835. After I read every message left on this board, I went to my YouMail account to block their future call.

If you haven't use YouMail.com on your cellphone, go signup for a free account! The coolest thing with YouMail is, you can play these [***] back by saving up their numbers in your Contact, then set up a custom greeting just for them! YM have all kinds of funny greetings, I choose a more realistic recording that starts with 3 disconnected tones, then it says " The number you have reached has been disconnected, GoodBye!" Make sure you check the option "Hang up after greeting is heard" for their numbers, then you're SET! No more harassments from these callers!

same thing, got a voice mail talking about 'to avoid interruption of services call'.  Since I'm on the other side of the country on a business trip, it made sense.  I called the number and (1) it went straight to a voice mail that didn't ID the bank/card and (2) it said they were closed-- all of my accounts have a 24 hour operator, or at least a voice menu to check from in off hours.

Received a call from 888-498-8835. I did answer, computer said my name and indicated to press "1" or if not me to press "2". I didn't press anything.

Comuter voice then went on to say this is Card Services and there has been a change to your card status. Call back this number immediately.

Googling the number got me here. I also have a BOA credit card. Called them and it was not them.

This board saved me .. THANK YOU. I have blocked this number.

Have received 5-6 calls from this number saying that they were calling to make changes with my BofA credit call.  I suspected this was a fraud when they asked for credit number and last four numbers of my social security.
Called  B of  A and was told to report any further calls and that this was a scam.

Just dialed the number and was told it as BOA. I told the person on the other end to put me on the Do Not Call List for my cell phone number. We shall see if this happens again.

I just got the call on my cell phone, since I'm home on the computer I googled the number and came to this site. I called back BOA using my home phone. Someone from BOA did answer but she was unable to find my accout.

Strange! I did not give her any information, so I asked her how was she going to look up my account she said by the phone I was calling her from.

Since she did not find anything she said my phone number had a different name on it. Which still left me confused as why the called me in the first
    place

    Go figure!!

I got the same call stating a change to my service etc. So I hung up.  When I called them back to see how they answered the Phone it went to the hold mode and then someone picked up the pnone and asked if I knew Brad Wheeler.  When I said no, he said he may have had the wrong number.  pretty interesting though because they called me on my cell phone and I called them back on my work phone so they must have this as a standard statement when you call in or something.  Just Beware!!!

I received two calls today from 1-888-498-8835 with an automated message claiming that I must call them today or my card privileges could be canceled. It did not identify a card company, nor did it have a company name on caller I.D.  However, I did try calling them back just to see who answered, and they were closed (amazing, since credit card companies never truly close), so I typed the number into AOL, and it brought me here.

This Is REAL! I returned the call and the offer was to reduce my rate on my credit card. They knew too much information about me and my account for this NOT to be legit and they did NOT ask me to verify my SSN just my mothers maiden name. I was told there was a government program available to people who are struggling to pay their credit cards and this program would "convert" the card to a fixed loan and my rate went from 16.99% down to 5%.  The payment, however, only dropped $60/mo but what that means is the principle would be paid down much faster and there was no penalty for early payoff! The only impact to your credit would be at the end of the loan (payoff) the account would be reported as "closed by consumer" so the "hit" to your credit score is minimal and will actually rise back up after a few months.  I called B of A and they were able to confirm who it was I actually talked to and the notes on my account reflected everything we talked about. I am now waiting for the email with all the details because I chose not to do anything at that moment...for verification purposes. I don't know of any other Credit Card company taking such a pro active approach to their customers and for them, it is better than having their customers file bankruptcy. My plan is to review the details and if all looks good, take advantage of the program.

888-498-8835: This is a fraud / scam / phishing attempt.  Do not give them any of your personal or account information. This is not Bank of America.  The voice mail said they were, but I contacted Bank of America, and they said this isn't them, and that they had not attempted to contact me. They recommended that I report this to their fraud department.

I call B.S. on what Eddie is saying. I think he is a part of this organization, and is just saying this to try to get ppl to call the number back.  If what he is saying has any grain of truth to it, it's a loan company of some kind, using fradulent methods to get your account information so they can offer you a loan.  In other words, it's a scam. Don't give them your personal information.

I am no way affiliated with B of A. I sell insurance for petes sake. Being the skeptic that I am, I DID CALL B OF A AND THE NOTES ON MY ACCOUNT VERIFIED EVERYTHING WE DISCUSSED...GEEESH.  If you don't believe me, call B of A yourself AND ASK TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR LIKE I DID.

1-800-732-9194 I got this number from their website under credit card contacts.

Why do you think I didn't do anything at the time of the call? I was skeptical.  And, having been a victim of fraud in the past, I placed a fraud alert on my credit reports to call a specific number if credit was applied for. Like I said, I did not give any personal information except for my mothers maiden name, and they never asked for anything else.  I called the 1-800 number for credit card customer service on the B of A website and everything has checked out. They knew too much information like the name of my account, (Gold Option), they knew the full account number already, exact rate, balance and history ($ amount) of past payments and that I already scheduled a payment to be debited from my checking account on 11-5.  Please tell me, how would anybody who is not affiliated with B of A know this information???? I can see somebody finding partial information and asking questions to fill in the blanks but they did not do this with me. If I find out any more info, I will be sure to post it here! I'm calling them again...

Update...I called B of A AGAIN! The guy on the front line of the call said he knew nothing about it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she verified who the person was I spoke to initially by looking her up in the company directory. She was able to tell me that the woman worked in Customer Assistance/Collections and was based in Phoenix (which is exactly what I was told). I asked the supervisor to send this woman an email and have her contact me directly (at a different number). The woman had a very distinct voice so I will know whether or not it is really her. I have not heard anything yet but I just got off the phone with them and will write another update when/if she calls.

Roxie is lying.  She probably works for them.  Never ever give out your credit card # to anyone who calls you.  I called BOA and it is NOT a number related to them.  They told me they are trying to deal with 1-888-498-8835 and put an end to this.

I just got the same call as described.  I called the number back within 2 minutes of the message and they were closed.  I Googled the number and found this info.  I called BofA and she said that the number DOES NOT belong to them and no one had called me about this account for any reason.

Received a call from this number last night - same as others reported, when I tried calling back, the office was closed & voicemail told me to call back during regular business hours.  After seeing postings here, I checked with BofA and here is their reply:

important responsibility. Please visit our Privacy and Security Web site
