I received a call at 7:45 am just before I arrived to work. I was told to call April Wells regarding a judgement case about me. I then told him to call my number back and leave me a voicemail on my cell. Then, He called my job! So I called back the number he gave, and was told I would be placed on hold. I then asked how did they get my job number. The operator became defensive. And, argued non stop. I kept asking her what was the judgement about. She never answered. This is harassment at the highest level. It's caused stress on my job. I had to report to my supervisor. When I told her that, she said she was going to call again and demand employment verification. And, threatened my job!

"I then told him to call my number back and leave me a voicemail on my cell". Why? Furthermore, are you going to be warned about any "judgement case against you" via telephone? Don't ask for trouble and not expect it, especially from crooks. Give them nothing and quit talking with these people unless they can provide proof anything exists. This is just a scammer hoping to scare you into paying imaginary debt, note the threats.

Did you talk to a man or a woman? 'cause you keep waffling between he and she. Whichever it was, why the heck would you tell them to call you back?!

That's what I couldn't figure out. What kind of voicemail will be left besides lies and threats? Invite telepests to call then grumble because they do. C'mon man.

Total scam.  If you were the subject of a civil lawsuit, you'd have received a letter from the attorney for the other party.  You'd have a paper trail.  If a case was filed, you'd have received a summons delivered to you by someone licensed to serve process in your locality.
You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list.  The court clerks are usually glad to help and are familiar with these kinds of scams.

    Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

This is a total scam.  These people who call rely on threats only.  Simply ignore and block the calls.  See my other entries. If you were being subpoenaed, you'd have heard about it by letter from the attorney involved in whatever action happened to be taking place.   There would most likely be an ongoing file in your local main civil court.  You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and see if your name appears anywhere.

If they call again, tell them that you KNOW this is a scam and they are being reported to the FTC.

I received the same voice mail call today. O called them back and asked what was it about. She asked for the case number. I told her thrn she said it must of not been that important thsn hung up on me. I called back and told her you guys are out of line to be leaving threating voicemails about coming on someones job or place of residents. She asked for the last four numbers of my social number. I told her Im not giving you nothing i dont know who you are or what you want. She got a real nasty attitude and got smart on the phone. Thrn hung up. I called them back several times trying to see what this was about. They wouldn't tell me and hung up in my face again. So i called back and this time she called me a f***** [***]. I said Im going to report you [***]. She hung up. That should fix them from ever calling my cell phone again.
