No, "the reason our economy is how it is" is Bush's cutting taxes for the rich while borrowing money to fund his 2 wars, followed by the banks' insane lending to anyone willing to sign on the dotted line, no need to prove you can pay the mortgage, and dumping the risky loans onto sucker-investors. No one here says debtors shouldn't pay their bills (your false assertion) but what I'm saying is no one should pay scammers or debt collectors who fail to obey the FDCPA. The FDCPA forbids deception, shilling is deception, and here you are, Sarah, shilling away like crazy. No one should pay your scammer overlords until they obey the FDCPA.

i'm getting these calls my self and i never called "the legal office" cause i knew it wasn't necessary. if you are being sued, they are going to serve you the papers without a phone call. i kept telling the guy "send em on" and i'll deal with it then, well they didn't even like that. yesterday when the daily call came the same guy identifies himself as an "international server", another red flag for me and he said "they are breathing down my neck to get this taken care of" and "you have to call right when we hang up" i told him i'll deal with it and hung up. so i'm waiting for my call today and i'm gonna go off on them. bring on the call!!

they are saying they get your info from loan apps?  i haven't filled out a loan app in well over 15 yrs.  i wander if the internet's goods out-weigh the bad?  and IF they are going with old apps, they have our ss #'s.  which can't be the case for me because my info is totally different since filling out an app.

This company is Called A&N Collections, LLC. They're doing business as  A&N Financial Firm.

The true names of the Owners of this company are Anthony Neal and Nick Alfano. They operate under aliases, as do all of their employees. Anthony Neal's alias is Jonathan Waters and Nick Alfano goes by Daniel DiRossi. Though Daniel DiRossi sometimes claims to be an attorney with A&N Financial Firm, he is not an attorney. NIck Alfano, on the other hand, is a second year law student who thinks that the 4th Amendment to US Constitution protects consumers against debt collectors.

Their "Corporate Office" is located at 27186 Newport Road, Menifee, Ca 92584

Their Mailing address is 26025 Newport Road, Box A-198, Menifee Ca, 92584

When you receive a call instructing you to contact this number that caller is an A&N Financial Firm dialer pretending to be a process server named John Howard or Rachel Owens. Any male caller will tell you he is John Howard and any Female, Rachel Owen. When you call that number you're going to be transferred to "Claims Litigation." The person who answers in Claims Litigation is going to tell you his or her name. This is not their real name either. Nothing they tell you is the truth.

If the person you are speaking to tells you that he/she is an attorney or paralegal, don't believe them. They're just debt collectors who have had no real training. Most of them have no idea what the FDCPA says.

    FACTS:
    1) In most cases, They cannot sue you for this debt because it is out of stat.
    2) They have no intention of filing a lawsuit against you.
    3) They do not have any of the media (documentations) associated with your Debt. They don't even have the original credit agreement.

    You should do the following:

    1) Send them a certified letter demanding that they send you Verification of Debt.
    2) Contact your State's Attorney General's Office and file a complaint.
    3) Contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint.
    4) Contact a Consumer Advocacy Attorney

You dumb-[***] just don't get it!!! VALIDATE the debt (as per the FDCPA) and you will get paid.

NO VALIDATION = NO PAYMENT .....PERIOD

    Really very simple ....

Well I guess that means they are a "paying" member of BBB. The paying members almost always get a better rating than non-paying members .......I don't know why -;)

It really doesn't matter. if you forced the issue by actually filing suit, the defendant should address the issue by filing a motion of discovery for the information in question.

If you can not produce the required documentation, you would lose the case. The defendant could I this point push their counter suit for damages.

I've been getting calls from a number that told me to call this one...They said they were sending the sherrif to serve me. I asked questions and confirmed my ss# (stupid) because they had it and two old addresses. They wanted an account or cc# I started to think it was valid because they had all of this information. But I haven't had a cc for years and the info didn't mesh with the timeline. Next time this guy calls I'm telling them that I have found out it's a scam and have reported them to the sheffif and bbb. I'll post the results if there are any.

I'm just replying because the same sort of thing just happened to me! My boyfriend and I, because the phones are both in my name, got calls regarding my niece. I too have hypertension among othert things and became totally upset and worried when I received this call. I did wonder how they could consider papers served just by calling a relative! I just can't believe this so called company is getting away with this trash! I gave them a call this morning and when prompted to leave a detailed message I really let them have it! Won't do any good but made me feel a little better. It would really make me feel better if they would get shut down for this craziness! It's one thing if you're the person oweing money but to call family members and claim benchwarrants will be put out for your niece or whoever the family member may be is just wrong and they need to be dealt with!
You and you're husband were extremely patient and I commend you for that, I could not have dealt with it in the manner you did. Thank goodness my mom had been called before and knew what was going on. I still didn't listen to her right away though and got really worked up about it and sure my blood pressure was through the roof also. Wasn't in the position to check it but this all happened in the midst of a very long, excruciating day for me already!
Just wanted to vent a little, thanks for your post, enjoyed reading it!

FTC recently sued a bunch of debt collectors running a similar fake "process server" racket out of Corona, also in southern California.
    http://www.ftc.gov/os/caselist/1123142/index.shtm

This looks like another Corona scam, one they missed.

    Contact FTC.
