Received a call stating that Humana offers a visiting nurse to come out and just do an evaluation, check meds, blood pressure and very similiar to a wellness check at dr office. I stated I was fine and wasn't having any problems but they could come if they wanted too. Gave me the name of person who would be coming and that name came up as a registered nurse for my state of Ohio. However, I called my health insurance rep and she said if I had been in to see my family physician within the last year she didn't know why they would be sending someone out. I could keep the appt if I wanted to. I still didn't feel comfortable so I called Humana and they checked their records and they had no indication that a home visit with a nurse was scheduled. I think was put up the red flag to all of this was that the phone number that came in was a local number, that is why I had answered the phone, but the individual on the other end asked about the weather in Ohio and then I asked her where she was from and she said St. Petersburg, Fl. I then asked her why the phone number came through as a local number and she said that she had another gentleman ask her the same thing and she didn't know but she would have to check with her manager. Had she not stated that part of the conversation about the weather, I probably wouldn't have questioned anything but now I am going to cancel the appt. Fortunately for me I wasn't available for her to come today so I scheduled it for tomorrow so that gives me time to cancel. I appreciate all the other comments on this page because that is just confirming the uncomfortable feeling I was having about all of this.

The reason for the home visit is mainly to get a health assessment for each Medicare Advantage so the insurance company can increase your risk assessment.  They look for reasons to increase your risk So that the Insurance plan will get more money from Medicare for that person.  This is called “risk adjustment”.  It’s not about you. It’s about them! $$$$$$$

bull.  they want to send nurse to check your meds and tell you if you need them.  if I need took off my meds my doc will do it.  they just dont want to pay for them.
