Yeah, I too am pretty uneasy about this whole Lieberman and Associates.

I got a call threatening to be sued for internet fraud, email fraud, and some other charges.  So, of course I called back wanting to clear up the matter.

They refused to send me something through the mail like a bill or the like.  They said they would only fax or email it to me.  I called several times requesting this, they kept saying they would get it done.  The last call, which was today, I was put on hold then conveniently disconnected.  I tried calling them back twice which I got a series of rings and then a voicemail.  On the third try it went straight to voicemail..... this sounded "fishy"

So, I called one last time leaving a very threatening voicemail saying I want that email NOW or I will cancel all further payments. Tonight I just got that email 1 hour ago.  On it, it says their hours are 8am - 5pm but when they sent the email it was 8:30 their time... hmmm... 3 1/2 hours after they close????  Plus the "agreement" they sent was simply typed and not on legal letterhead.  Anyone could've done this.

They got one $50 payment from me which I am going to be disputing thought the bank and I closed my debit card so no further payments will be taken from me.

They can sue me and if they are legit and do take me to court.  They never provided proof of who they were and no judge will rule against someone giving their bank info to just anyone over the phone.

This was a disturbing call since we don't live in the same state. they (mr.anthony) told me they were located in californina and ohio.. I saved the message on the my phone recorder because it didn't sound legit.

    SO MAD
These people contacted my sister sayting that there was going to be warrents issued for my arrest.  She tried to tell them she didn't know me, but they kept harrassing her.  I called them back and they answered the phone "Investigations!" The lady who answered was very rude and jerky! I couldn't get any information out of her besides to tell me that my sister was trying to dis own me!?!?!? Whatever! She has no clue! My sister wanted know part in her scamming ways! After talking to this jerky lady she finally transferred me to this guy who referred to himself as Mr. Anthony.  He was claiming there was a money fraud investigation about me going on from some payday loan from 2007.  I never took out a payday loan!!! They act really rude and try and get you to pay them some money right away or they're going to have to procede with legal action.  He wanted me to give him all my bank information before he mailed me something in writing.  I wasn't about to do this.  Now, they keep calling and harassing my sister even though she told them to quit harassing her or she was going down to the police department and filing a complaint against them for harassment.  I can't find any information on this place and nobody seems to know anything about them.  I figure if it really were a legitimate debt they would contact me in writing as required by law if I request it.  I think they are scammers and until they prove differently I'm not paying them a penny.

Both my mother and I recieved a call from this same company and number almost a week ago, threathening to lock me up. I have called at least five times because i asked for some type of documentation on this debt I supposedly owed. Mr. Anthony said his fax machine was broken and he couldnt fax anything. So i asked if he could email and he said sure. I waited three days for an email. I was dumb enough to give him my card info and he was set to take the inital payment out yesterday. I made sure that i cancelled the card after i decided to look up the company. Something in my gut kept telling me something isn't right. Everytime I called, there was a different person answering and they would never say the name of the company. It was always "investigation" or "hello"...SCAM!! They called me three times last night and four times today asking why the funds haven't been available. I'm going to file a complaint and if they want to sue me, so be it. Please dont be a tard like me and give any personal information!!!!!

I received a call back at the end of august, along with calls to my mother, mother in law brother in law and place of work.  With all the same threats.  I was stupid paid them $300 and was supposed to pay them again today an additional $300, well they never provided me the information validating the actual claim, so I am not paying the additional $300.  well again they are calling ALL over looking to get in touch with me.  My attorney has advised me not to call back and not to pay another dime.  Which is what I intend to do!  I am just curious though, has anyone actually had them proceed further than just the annoying harrassing phone calls?

I have dealt with these people a few times.  Every few months, they call me and leave messages stating that a summons will be sent to my home or place of work (good luck since I have moved out of state and don't work) or that the police will be notified and charges will be pressed.  Never happens, and this started 2 years ago.  The first few times they called, they referred to themselves as "investigators".  I had "Investigator Gaynor", "Investigator Anthony", and "Investigator Jones" call.  Now the same people are calling as Mr. So and So.  The name of their company always changes as well.  I will admit, the first time they called, I did make a couple of payments as I was getting married and didn't want to bring any debt to the marriage.  I canceled the payments when  their "proof" (which took over a month to arrive) was no more than a typed piece of paper, no letterhead, that said I would be paying x amount to them to settle a debt.  Also, when they were explaining what the debt was, they were very careful to say that I had written a bad check to a pay day loan place and they were calling to collect on the check written, not the outstanding loan balance.  Well, you can't collect on a check that didn't clear and the loan seperately, it is basically charging you twice for the same thing.  Don't pay, but save the messages they leave (advice from my attorney) so that if you ever do get a summons to go to court, you can counter sue for illegal debt collection practices and the debt collection company will have to pay damages plus clear the debt.

I have been dealing with these scumbags for the past week!  Luckily I googled the phone number & found these posts before giving them my Acct #.  They have threatened with lawsuits, garnishments, & have been contacting me at my place of employment constantly!!  I just asked for a validation notice & the proper name of the "law firm" along with address.  The response I received floored me!  He told me not to call back anymore & if I have a lawyer to have him contact them!  LOL.  These people are not lawyers, but simple debt collectors that are abusing the rights of consumers!  I just posted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & am trying my best to get them in trouble!  All you have to do is ask for credibility & they will leave you alone & sell your debt to the next collection agency!!

althought they have no legal right to pursue legal action the can continue to collect this debt.  I used an online payday company and forgot to take care of it.  Oh well the statue of limitations has run out and the cannot legally enforce me to pay, file judgement or garnish it is something that i do owe.

I first recieved a call from my mother in law and my sister in law stating that i have been named inan ongoing fraud investigation and that I need to contact them before they get the authorities involved.  I got on the phone immediately and spoke to a man called Mr. Anthony.  I asked for Mr Jones that left the message and he drew blank and said that he does not recall that name.

I asked him what the debt was and the reasone for the call.  He told me was a returned check from 2005.  I laughed he asked why.  I asked him if his firm was a collection agency or a law firm.  After a few um's and studders he said they do have attorneys that they have on the organization but they are a collection agency.  I asked if they are governed by the FDCPA he said yes.

Thats when I blasted him with my concerns over the nature of the detailed and threatening false statmens they made to my family and that i was contemplating on puruing legal action with the Attorney General and that this debt was included in my chapter 13 bankruptcy and by contacting me and harrasing me thay are liable for damages inclding my attorneys fee.  He said that he would take it up to his manager for review.  I asked him for an address so that I may provide it to my attorney and to mail a cease and decist letter and he stumbled again and said that they would be in contact with my attorney and hung up.  Funny thing is that I never gave the name or number to my attorney.

2 days later both my mother in law and my sister in law get a voicemail from the same dude and the same message.  I get on the phone again and ask to speak to a supervisor was placed on hold for 15 minutes.  Mr Anthony comes on the line and states, "Stop calling our firm or it will be considered harrasment" and hung up.

They are like the 3 stoodges of collections agencies.

By the way....I do work in the collections industry.  13 years experiance and I've forgotten more then these fools will ever know.  It's a wonder how they stay in business.

I totally expect that they change there name and phone #'s.  Places like these need new info and a fresh start to and once they get this rep again will happen again.

Protect yourselves.  Never offer any credit card or bank information even if it a bogas account # as this will restart the clock on the statue of limitations.  Never under any circumstances make a verbal or sign any kind of agreement as this will also be an open door for a judgement as calls are recorded and will be used in court to file a judgement.  Once a judgement is filed they can garnish your wages seize propery and assets and levy your bank account.
