multiple calls from this number...Drew Wilson on message and call back to "live" person who was identified as Pat Horton from Arbitration and Litagation.  said she was calling about 2009 Visa bill.  I said we do not have that card.  She said "you'd better get a lawyer".  called again to ask for name of company and their address...Pat would not give that information.  How do you get them to stop?  I reported to Federal Trade Commission.

I got the same call 2 days ago, threatening me with criminal charges on a CC account I pd off last year.  The women had my address and even asked if we had weapons in the house for the safety of the process server that was coming that day!  She was beyond nasty, gave no company name and said I could resolve it by paying ½ of it that day, I assured her I was pretty sure it was the debt I had already taken care of, which it was but she had me so frazzled I couldn't think straight!!  This is beyond harassment, I called back and got a VM and let them knew I knew who they were and if they called me again I'd be contacting my attorney for harassment.  THIS IS A SCAM!!!  But I'm not ok, that they have my info, address etc.  How does this lady "Pat Horton" sleep at night and look herself in the mirror that she is threatening people like this!?!?!?

These are criminals pretending to be debt collectors, so it will be hard to make them stop.  Make it clear that you know they are crooks and that you won't pay them a single penny in extortion money.  Once they know that you are not an easy mark they will move on.

BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies starting business in the Upstate New York area over the past several years. In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with federal and state law, we have asked for specific information from all collection agencies located in our service area, including proof of licensing, bonding, and or registration required by NY state or other governments where the business is located, as well as proof of licensing required by any state in which the business operates. This collection agency has not responded to our requests. BBB advises consumers to be aware of their rights in regard to collections. This includes New York States law prohibiting any collection agency from collecting on Payday loans in the State of New York. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) outlines prohibited behavior when attempting to collect a debt, and outlines specific rights for consumers. There are penalties for agencies found in violation of the Act. Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

I just hot a call from a Drew Wilson yesterday, 2/26/16 as well.  He left two messages, one on my cell, and one on the land line.  When I telephoned back. a smoker-voiced degenerate was LAUGHING, saying I owed $4500 on an HSBC VISA account, WHICH I HAVE NEVER HAD.  She was laughing while I was quite upset.  I yelled at her.  She hung up.  I called back again, she said a few words, laughed some more at me, and said papers were going to be delivered to my house, then hung up.

I called back AGAIN, very upset, and a different woman answered, also sounding quite unprofessional.  She said she'd "help me", gave me the same BS line about my having a debt that she is handling for HSBC in hand. I got upset again, and she hung up on me.

I'm so glad I came here to find out that there were other victims, but also sorry that there WERE such victims.  These SONS OF [***].  She quoted my address and said I would be served "papers today, a Saturday, to appear in court in the future".   I want them sent to trial.  They are LOW-LIFE SCUM.  What do they get out if this?

Do people actually just write and mail them checks????

    P. Mitsos replies to Leon
Me too.  We should all file a class action lawsuit against this SCUM....Drew Wilson, Patty Horton, and whatever other low-life [***] that was on the phone.  They are scummy scam artists with nothing better to do than to rip other people off, since they have no professions of their own to keep them busy.

I agree, Susie.  They are complete, lowlife scum.  I have already programmed them in my phone.  If they call me one more time, I will call the police, and have them contact the police in "Drew's" area. These charlatan criminals need to be dealt with.

Yes, but they don't accept checks.  They want instant gratification so they take plastic, Greendot or Vanilla cards, or Western Union.

Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

These people are FAKE!!, they have called my house numerous times looking for someone else and when I tell them that the person does not reside in my home the tell me that I'm interfering with an investigation and could go to jail.  Professional Legal People know the law and CAN NOT threaten you in any way, shape or form.  I told them I was contacting my attorney because I was being harassed after they were told numerous times that the person they are looking for does not reside in my home.

This is really odd because the same number has called my boyfriend every other month about a debt that was cleared back in 2008. They actually have called his cell phone AND his company leaving the same messages with the Office Manager stating they need an address to serve him papers for default. It's been going on since last summer and it usually is a different company name. I figured it was bad debt being sold over and over again with strong arm tactics for getting the money.
Is this legit or should he be calling someone and tracking them down???
