Definitely not legit. I received a call from this number saying a fraudulent charge was being made on my card. He started asking me to to verify personal info. I told him the charge was fraudulent and that's all I was going to tell him, then I hung up and called the bank. They said no one from the bank contacted me.

That doesn't mean all calls from this number are from TD Bank since scammers frequently spoof legitimate phone numbers. And why are you even here? Do you often look up known phone numbers when there's no logical reason to do so? Then again, you are replying to a 10-year old post so...

This is a scam. The caller ID shows TD Bank, but I didn't answer and called the bank. They never attempted to reach me. They first sent a text message asking if I was attempting a Zelle transaction on my account. I don't have Zelle set up for that account so I responded No and immediately received a call from "TD Bank NA." I did not answer and they did not leave a message. Called the bank and it was fraudulent.

Received a call from this number that there was wire transfer of $900 to China using my Visa card.  I said I would call customer service and when I did, they said that was false.

Call labeled as TD BANK on caller ID.  Arabic operator stating suspicious charges (eBay, Walmart, amazon).  Upon checking my online statement online no signs or postings of such purchases.  Operator then asked if I got a fraud text (which is what is normally sent out) and stated they are having issues with texts going out.  Caller then got angry when I wouldn't provide last 4 of social and date of birth ultimately hanging up on me.  I called TD and they stated they have been receiving a ton of calls on this issue and they will ALWAYS send a text and never a phone call.

I received a call from this number and immediately googled it. It was listed on google as an official TD Bank fraud department number, so I accepted the call. The caller stated that he worked for the TD Bank fraud department and that there may have been fraudulent activity on my account. I was suspicious throughout the call because he asked me many questions about myself and my debit card and bank account that he should have already had on file. However, since the call was from an official TD Bank number, I continued to provide information. Several times I questioned why he needed certain info, and he was abrupt and a bit condescending. I finally had someone call TD Bank for me from a different phone to tell them about the suspicious call and verify if it was real. When they heard the man asking for pin codes that had been texted to my phone, they told me to hang up. They said that scammers have a way of mirroring their official phone numbers to look like they’re calling from a certain business. The scammer then repeatedly called back and left a voicemail. They ended up changing my online banking password before I hung up, so TD Bank locked down my account and then helped me change my username and password and verified that no other harm was done. They canceled my card and sent a new one.

Learn something from my mistakes… Some red flags to look out for:
The call keeps dropping and they call back immediately
If they ask for the card number, expiration and security code
If they prompt you with the start of an incorrect card number
If they send several PIN numbers to your phone and ask for them
If you get an email saying your password was changed
If they ask for your SSN
If they are rushing you to get them information

These are all things I was suspicious about and questioned, and they continued to dismiss my concerns. If you’re suspicious, just hang up and call the fraud department yourself. That’s what I will do from now on.

Yes, it is called "Caller ID Spoofing" and I am totally astonished that you have never, ever heard of it after it being around for more than a decade.

This is a legitimate TD Bank customer service number, but it's also being used somehow by scammers. I just received a call claiming to be TD Bank. They told me I had an unauthorized charge on my debit card, but they did not follow the normal procedures and started asking for information like my online account ID.

I disconnected and called TD directly through my bank app and they confirmed my suspicion that the initial call was not legitimate.

A caller called from this number telling me that I am sending money to the criminal and demanding explanations. This is a total scam. Very aggressive. I told them I will call the police and that ended the conversation.

It may be legit TD bank number, but the guy who just called me told me that I have 200-something dollar fraudulent charge from "Green Wall pharmacy" lol and couldn't tell me when that charge was from and asked for my 4 digits of SSN, and I couldn't go to the bank myself to fix the problem, if there was ever any rofl.

I played along with this one... My caller id showed TD Bank but little did they know I have never had and never will have a TD bank account. Typical India caller asking me for details and about potential fraudulent charges etc... don't fall for it. Log into your account and if there is truly a fraud alert, you will more than likely be notified after logging in. Be smart, you make the call to confirm, they will almost never call you for personal information period.
