This is from Advance Capital Solutions.  They are a very threatening debt collection agency.  I returned their call yesterday and began speaking to a man named Keith.  After discussing my file with me, he put me on hold and another man came on the line and was very rude and threatening. He told me that I had talked to everyone in his office and given them all my sob story.  I have only talked to 3 other people in this office in the past.  He demanded I make a settlement offer to them that day or my file would be "taken to the next level" even though they could never explain what the "next level" was.  He then told me he knew what my address was and after doing a computer search on my address, he could tell what my house was worth and said "can't you just do a refinance and get a lump sum on a cashier's check and pay me".  When I told him that was not possible and that I could only make $50 a month payments, he said that that amount was not worth his time or effort and hung up on me.  The number they called from was 888-797-5028.

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

This is a criminal enterprise trying to shake down people for money.  The scam is this: Did you get a payday loan recently?  If you did, then your info was sold by the payday loan company to EVERYONE - including scammers that will then take whatever info they got and do a Google search to get a little more. Doesn't matter if you paid off the loan or defaulted.  This is how payday loaners make even more money on top of the loan shark rates they charge.

The scammer will then call you at home and/or work and say some variation of the following:
"I'm an investigator/ calling from Advance Capital (or some other made up name that sounds legit) and we have a file here with your Social Security Number attached." (hint: they don't have your SSN. They just say that so that you will "verify it."  They are phishing for more info so they can steal your identity). Just hang up at this point. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO. Any legit debt collector already has your information and would send you a letter requesting payment of any legit debt.

Don't get sucked in by the stress/fear when they jump into their aggressive/angry/threatening speech claiming  you owe them some absurd amount of money (of course you don't) and if you don't pay (by an untraceable cash payment at Western Union or CVS -BIG RED FLAG there) they will "take this to the next level" or "release your file."  All this is nonsense and highly illegal.  Know your rights. Keep reporting these fools on sites like this to educate others and submit a complaint to your state's Attorney General office. All 50 states have a way to submit complaints online.

These people will not stop calling my cell phone. They call me at least once a day if not more time (3 x average). They are rude and threaten me with criminal charges and or other things. They told me they don't have to stop calling my cell # until I have paid the debt they are collecting. The medical debt is over ten years old.

Indeed? The next time they call, let them know they are calling on a recorded line and you are having them prosecuted for, (among other things): making illegal threats and calling your cell phone without your consent, for which you can sue them for up to $1,500 per call.

On February 28, 2014, BBB Began receiving calls from consumers stating Advanced Capital Solutions, Inc. called them stating they owe a bill.  According to consumers, business was not willing to send a statement.  Some consumers checked with original creditor and was informed no bill is owed.

BBB contacted Advanced Capital Solutions, Inc. in March and April 2014 requesting them to address consumers' concern and to provide BBB with background information on their association with other businesses.  BBB also reiterated to the business the Validation of Debts Rule per the FTC [15 USC 1692g]

Received a call / message from these idiots looking for my son who has not lived with me for 5 years. They stated this is the "only address they had for him and he needs to quit ignoring their calls...".I have better things to do than bothering with these criminals so I keep on ignoring them.

Hey I have people calling me from there Jason ext # 106 and his supervisor Ted ,threaten me for the bills that they are 7 years old .I called reall collection agency that is affiliated with hospital I was in she told me my bill is cancelled I do not owe them anything

Someone name Kim, called me from Advance Captical saying that they are trying to give me a chance to talk with them before they go on to the next level, and I should call her back at 888-907-1269, Ext. 118 to resolve this matter.

I have received 2 calls in the past 2 days looking for my wife saying she owes $1700 from this number. We have never been to a payday loans type of place and they are trying to say we have. I have received two phone calls from this number saying I owe $1842.00 on a debit card from 2007, from Citi Bank. I have never done business with Citi Bank and certainly don't owe $$ to anyone from 2007. Scary thing is, they gave me my Social Security # and date of birth.  I insisted on them sending documentation to my email and that's never happened. What can be done about this?  I can ignore them and block them from calling me. But it's unsettling that they have my SS #.

Same story as everyone else Advanced Capital Solutions they reroute their phone number to numbers in your area so that you'll think it's somebody else and answer I've had several different numbers pop up for the same company so now I answer no numbers unless they're in my contact list I wait for a voice message

I received a voicemail this morning from a company called Advanced Capital Solutions. The caller ID was unknown and they left a message about my account on file and that they had all of my information. The girl by the name of Amber said that if I did not contact them then they would go to the next level. They tried to send me something via e-mail but it was a bogus document and when I asked for something in writing in the mail it never showed up. These companies feed of people who have applied for a loan or payday loan at one time and was not approved. It is sad but a lot of companies will sell your information if they need money to scammers like these. I have dealt with this many different times and I always tell them to go ahead and arrest me or file the claim in court. They are just trying to scare you and get your money. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY OR ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION!  This is how they steal identities and rip you off. I refuse to give in and will be filing a complaint with the FTC and the States Attorney General. This is the last time I am going to be subjected to this!!

Please file a complaint on them. It will put a stop to these ridiculous scammers!

This company has started to call my job. I have told them to stop calling but they continue. I had to explain to my boss that it is a scam trying to get my information. It has been a huge hassle.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand

You may also have a private cause of action against them under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  You'd need pirvate legal counsel for that sort of remedy.

BBB contacted Advanced Capital Solutions, Inc. on March 28, 2014 regarding a pattern of complaints alleging consumer does not know anything about the debt trying to be collected, does not owe the debt or has already taken care of the debt.

Company responded March 28, 2014.  They state they stand by the fact that all of the debt they are collecting on they have full legal rights to collect on and can provide chain of debt and ownership upon request.  If an account was paid on prior to coming into their office they invite any consumer to provide that proof and  company ceases collection efforts until they receive such proof.

Update March 21, 2016. The BBB continues to see a pattern of complaints alleging consumers receiving rude threatening phone calls from the company. Consumers claim they are unaware of any outstanding debt and claim they have never received anything in writing stating they owe for any debt. The BBB has contacted the company regarding the continued pattern and are awaiting the company's response.

I received the same type of RUDE and THREATENING call from 'Todd' who hung up on me hen I gave him the amount I could pay each month until I had enough to pay in full.  I had previously phoned that number, 888-797-5028, on four different occasions but to no avail, in an effort to make arrangements to pay; however, continued to no avail!  Do you perhaps simply by chance have their mailing address?  afg, they are the epitome of rude and threatening!!!
