It is illegal to threaten people in order to get them to pay a debt.

NEVER pay any caller unless they MAIL proof that the debt is yours and that they have the legal right to collect said debt.  If a caller refuses or can't mail this documentation to you, they are owed nothing, per the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).  Report the caller to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General.

I just received a call from this number from a Ruben Banks in the Department of Litigation and Legal Processing with the company FPR. I believe they're located in Pennsylvania based on him mentioning a law that requires him to gives me the option to work out the situation before we go to court. He didn't say what they were calling about but I'm assuming its about a payday loan because I get calls from guys like this all the time and I refuse to pay it because my identity was stolen.

Any idea on how to get these guys to stop? It seems whenever I try anything the debt just gets passed around to another agency.

Received call from this number from a Ruben Banks from FPR... same as Derek, my identity has been stolen in the past which is what i suspect this stems from. What I don't know is if they are a legitimate collection agency or not.

I received a call from Ruben Banks yesterday.  He wanted to know what time and where I wanted to be served with papers.  I said he works for a company names FPR & Associates and the are based in Tampa, Florida. I ignore them now.  The are harrassing and even if you owe money it doesn't mean the people you owe it to will get it.  When I told him I would call the company that claims I owe them money he said it was in his hands now.

Same man called my husband's aunts cell phone and said it was about a legal matter and for me to contact him. I have never taken a payday loan ever in my life and let alone use my husband's aunt for a reference.

I just received a call from this Ruben banks guy, saying that they are in the process of serving me unless I pay them. I asked that they send me information regarding the debt because as far as I know I have no debt outside of my home and school loans. He says he cannot give me any information because he does not have it.  It's been 6 months since I've started receiving scam phone calls from all over the place but I need to know if this is also a scam?? I see that this looks like it may be.  I have dealt with the real deal before. This just seems wrong.

Federal law requires them to send you a letter stating their company name, physical address, the creditor's name, and the amount oof the alleged debt along with your right to dispute the debt within 30 days of that letter.  This letter must be mailed to you within 5 days of that phone conversation.  If they fail to do that, they have violated Federal law and are most likely thieves trying to extort money from you.  Do not pay them a penny until they have validated the debt.  The fact that they refused to give you any information has already skirted the law.
If you have any information such as the company name it would be helpful in tracking down these cretins.
Also, read up on your rights here and if possible file a comp[laint against them:

I just received messages from family that Reuben Banks of FPR is also trying to contact me. The messages left were regarding discrepancies with my ss# and using a previous last name that hadn't been used in over 6 years. WATCH OUT FOR THIS ONE!!!

Just got a call with the same kind of message.  Has some discrepancies regarding an issue attached with my name and SSN.  He left the 888 number to call back, but the caller id brought up a local number.  Shady.

Just got the same call as Jane. I don't know any debt from any time recent that would have "issues" associated with it. All of my bit of debt is definitely correct and being taken care of. Not sure who this dude is and why he is calling from a local number then giving an 888 to dial back. Shady shady. I'm blocking the number. If it's real they'll find me and prove their case.

This man does not work for a company. he goes to collections companies and purchases old debts for .10 and all your information along with it. He does this using fake company information. He then calls and threatens you with court and asks you to verify information. when this man called me, I told him to [***] off. He continued to call until I blew a whistle in his ear and kept blowing each time he called. He is a con man because you must have a license to collect a debt that does not belong to you. Ruben Banks is not his real name and he will give you very different locations as to where he is calling from so ignore him, and tell him off and threaten to have the calls traced and sue him if he contacts you again.

Regarding this FPR group.  Has anyone received a call from someone named "Danny Simmons? "I have received calls from him  numerous times,  and I feel this whole thing is a scam! They've even gone as far as to mimic a family members number,  so I would answer.  Does anyone know about these people?
