this number will not stop calling demanding money and threating mesages that I have saved.

I'm sick & tired of getting calls from this number looking for STEVE DEUTCH(sp)...There's no way to get thru them on the phone as alls you get is a run around.  Again, I'm filing a complaint against them!! ugh.......

I had the same problem.. half the time I don't answer and when I do.. nothing..  finally called back today... got a person.. told them not to call my f.... # again...  I hate to use such language.. but I guess they don't understand normal language.. she said they'd remove my # from their list... We'll see...

They called this afternoon, but I don't answer calls with 888 prefixes.  It's always either a credit scam or a telemarketer.  I have no debts, am completely solvent.  If this number supposedly belongs to a credit agency, they are probably running a fraudulent scheme, especially considering that they're asking for someone's SS# as rach mentioned.

By the way, canceling your phone service is not an option.  They do call people on their cell phones, since that's the only way anyone can call me.  I don't have a land line.

didn't answer - called back - recording said they are astra - attempt to collect a debt.
Scary thing is I just pulled my credit report from annualcreditreport dot com - the one that is free for people to pull once a year.
nothing bad on my credit report.... makes you wonder if everything is connected and BIG brother/big corporation/ the machine is watching your every move.

No idea why I've been getting so many of these 888 numbers calling my cell phone, but it's getting really old!  I have no debt, so this is obviously an attempt at some kind of scam.

Do not answer or call back a number 617-848-1691. It is some weird guy named Jack trying to pimp off his phone sex line he uses spoof cards to call you then you call back and get whacked with a huge phone bill. Trust me. He thinks he can hide in Rhode Island all he wants he is wanted.

I just got a call from them so decided to look it up. I found these posts. Most home telephone services have a call block list. If this is your home phone, you can just add this number, and it will stop. If it is your cell phone, call your carrier, and see if you have that feature on your plan. If not, and it is offered, then purchase it for your peice of mind.

Most smartphones have apps that will block these numbers all they have to do is go to the android market or the one for iphones etc and be able to get a blocking service for free... just thought I would put that in there

They call me a lot.  I ignore them, they never leave a message.  If they call me again I'm going to give them a piece of my mind

they have been calling my parents home looking for me. they call a lot and early in the am..
how can you block their number, and wont they use a different number?

Don't know who these people are but they call any day any time. Please stop calling my #!!!!

This is obviously a sleazy collection agency.  If they call again, do NOT acknowledge who you are and if they continue harassment on the phone, tell them nothing.....'I don't know what you're referring to' or 'I don't know what you're talking about', then hang up.  This is probably for an OLD debt that was never paid.  They may offer a 'settlement' amount, but it IS IMPORTANT you do not tell them who you are and VERY IMPORTANT to not acknowledge you ever owed said money.  The statute of limitations runs out 7 years AFTER the date of the last payment, or last time you talked with someone perhaps making payment arrangements.  These types of companies buy old debts that are no longer on your credit report and there is nothing they can do.  Say the debt is 10 years old and they are trying to collect it, if you tell them in any way that they can't collect it, or 'it's an old debt'.....they can LEGALLY call you for another 7 years, so TELL THEM NOTHING!!!

Called - no message left.  Thanks for all the advice here, now I know that when I see that number I can ignore it, or pick up the headset and slam it down :)

They called again......Saturday March 3rd, 2012. 1:55 pm. no message left. I do not have any debts. Will not answer these calls...Something real fishy about it all.....

These people keep calling asking for somebody I don't even know. I told them that whoever gave them my # tricked them, because it's not me, they said: "OK ma'am" like in a "yeah right" voice. Ohhhhh!
