I keep getting a call looking for Matthew every month or so an every month or so I keep telling this Indian person that he has the wrong number and that Matthew doesn't live at this address etc... Today after requesting a manager to speak to I got hung up on so I called back waited for a live attendant repeated the process but added that if I get a call again from this company I will get a lawyer to sue for harassment.

Yeah, anything short of hiring a lawyer and suing them isn't going to get them to leave you alone. It doesn't matter if you're not the person they are looking for. If they THINK might be the person they are looking for, nothing less than suing the **** out of them for harassment will convince them otherwise.

Debt collectors have a rich history of harassing people over expired or previously paid debts. They even hound people for debts they never owed, merely for having a similar name or address as the actual debt holder.

Next time they call, try to get as much information from them as you can, but don't let them know that. Let them think you are interested so they'll be more forthcoming. Write down the day, time and number they called from, as well as the name of the person you spoke to. DO NOT give them any personal information, and DO NOT agree to send any payments.

They have been calling my cell phone repeatedly over the period of months.Often the line goes dead after you receive the call.On the occasion that there is a human at the other end the call is long distance and garbled . They start pumping me for information on who I am as they are foreign I refuse and tell them not to call and say they should contact me by mail if they have any serious concerns. They have been calling for months and refuse to stop.

Don't know who they are. Called back and sounded like a bill collector. Guess being on the do not call list means nothing.

They just called me and left a voice mail. It seems like a scam. They are talking in Indian and I can understand little bit of their conversation. One guy is asking someone "when he goes to the gym"? After an unheard reply, he says "Oh he goes in the evening, that's why he always looks tired that time" I don't know whom they are talking about, at least not about me hopefully.

That's not entirely true. They may drag you into court on a collection and then you have to show the judge your sole income and you have no co-mingling of income (i.e.: joint account with someone who does have an income or has money in accounts with you).  These folks make life very difficult for someone who is truly disabled.

NO THEY CAN'T SEND SPAM TEXTS.  REPORT TO THE FCC - THERE'S A FORM ON THEIR WEB SITE.  I DON'T KNOW IF IT DOES ANY GOOD, BUT AT LEAST IT'S SOMETHING.

IF A DEBT COLLECTOR THREATENS YOU IT'S ILLEGAL AND YOU CAN SUE.  IF YOU GET CALLS WITH THREATS, RECORD IT AND FIND AN ATTORNEY WHO HANDLES THESE THINGS

THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.  THERE ARE STRICT RULES FOR DEBT COLLECTION.  FIND A SAMPLE CEASE AND DESIST LETTER ONLINE, SEND THEM ONE VIA CERTIFIED MAIL WITH RETURN RECEIPT, AND BE SURE TO KEEP A COPY OF THE LETTER.  IF THEY CALL YOU AFTER RECEIVING THE CEASE AND DESIST YOU CAN SUE.  EVEN IF YOU ACTUALLY OWED THEM MONEY.

They call my home at different days/times.... .....
Claiming I owe them a debt from 1987 (*Note: I was a Minor in 1987) and they were collecting upon it...  Also, debt is NOT VALID... and out of "Statue of Limitations."
I just laughed and told them take me to court!  At least then, I can counter sue them... .....
People... from what I am hearing and seeing.. all of these FAKE collection agencies are more or less just taking a SHOT in the Dark to see whom they can scare money out of... Make them take you to court, ignore them... if you do not owe the debt!! !!  At least then, you can counter sue them in a court of law once they file... Forget the Do Not Call list by the Fed... that is bogus... My number has been on it since it first came out... and they never do anything when you do file a complaint...

    lmao!
I get calls from the Indian guy at this number ...... he has cussed at me and called every family member around me and told them "if they care for me, I will pay this debt!" I think they are scammers! The debt is over statue of limitations!  They also try to tell me they want 2500.00 dollars for my original amount that wasn't one third that amount. They also told different family members personal information on this debt and threatened them. They won't get a red cent from me... just for being hustlers. I actually find it comical ... I am unemployed like the rest of the country ..... also own nothing! So please keep trying .... f**king foreign bottom feeders maybe if our jobs weren't outsourced I'd be calling you and not you me. That's the problem with this country.  Lol!!!!!

Send a cease and desist letter - look for templates online. Send it certified, if they call after you send a cease and desist, you can sue them!  But if you ever get sued for the debt, make sure you hire an attorney.  These are most likely 3rd parties who bought the debt for pennies on the dollar, so they probably won't sue.
I don't owe anyone, so I don't know why they are calling my cell. Arg.

} they [sic] guy wrote them a letter

Wow, big whoop for $55, a letter you could draft and send yourself for just over six dollars in USPS fees, and yours would not have to be a cookie-cut mess of poor English like Centennial's.

} they elected to settle for $1500, and I got half.

Assuming I believe your shill testimonial, you got the FDCPA statutory limit plus costs, and had to split it for cheap. Never mind about your actual case details or what it was really worth. The average FDCPA settlement nationwide is around $3500. But sure, you want to keep playing for Chinese take-out money, keep using a paper mill lawyer found "through the internet" who is looking for a fast buck.

Centennial Law in Ventura, CA was once so desperate to drive traffic to one of its several sloppy web sites that it ran a mass spam campaign for much of 2010 on several forums like this one.

My report on Centennial Law from July 2011:
