A JUDGE MUST APPROVE A GARNISHMENT. YOU WOULD GO TO COURT FIRST!
This is a collection agency. However with that being said they are doing MANY, MANY ILLEGAL things. Please look up FDCPA laws and contact a FDCPA attorney in your area about this company. If anyone has an address for them please post it.

After reading the posts on this web-site, I have determined that I apparently am also a "victim" of this scam. We called this number and rec'd just an answering machine. They have been harassing me at work and "how" they obtained my work number, I have no clue. This type of illegal activity must/should be investigated by the Attorney General's Office (criminal division). In the event you desire to contact me, feel free to communicate with my attorney: Veronica Farias, (956) 546-1537. Thank you.

I just got an email from my supervisor that they were looking for me for my death husband's bills. I am so annoyed by them. They told me once on the phone that they are going to come to my work and make me fired from it or make me shame for it. It is so messed up.

I just got a call at work from a blocked name and number.  It was a man claiming to work for a legal agency.  He said that i was being summons to appear in court and that i needed to call a man named David Steven at a law firm called Stein & Associates.  The number he gave me to call was 888-825-8045.  I have not called it because i think it's a scam and now after reading these post I am positive it's a scam.  I can't think of a thing i'm being sued for anyway.  How can I keep these people from calling me at work?

    Thanks Google
We received a message today from this number- 888.825.8045- a man by the name of Jared Dixon working for RPS and contracted by Stein and Associates is looking for my brother. He was about to call, but I am sure it's a scam. He even had an official-sounding case number which is not in the court's database.
After entering the information left on the message into Google's search engine, this website and another came up. They lead me to believe it's a scam!

dt is a lying scammer shill. Only a court can order legit garnishment of wages and you would have gotten a summons for court. For God's sake, use punctuation, your post is just about unreadable. I suppose you are scamming because you failed in school?

they did get one, because of people like YOU misleading others
i did not appear because i avoided them, but they only have to try so many times and then it goes through court anyhow.Nice way to put someone down because their typing skills don't match yours.I have an actual job i do not sit around at my keyboard all day.sorry
but anyhow you should consider actually knowing something versus and opinion if you post on such important matters like this.

HAHHA they just called me and did a few months ago. First of all, from what I know, in the state of California, where I am, you have to physically transport the court summons and drop it off or mail it. you don't get it by phone. People don't call you mulitple times regarding a court summons. I've actually been informed this is a scam to get you to call regarding any type of debt you have....it's a tactic. :) anyways, that's my story. and the reason NONE of you recieved a court summons is because of course it's a scam.

I have had several calls on my home phone and my cell phone where they left a message asking if someone would be home between 8 and 4pm and told that i would have to reschedule but they gave me a case number! i was told to call Gary Stevens at 888-825-8045. I tried calling several times. They answer the phone RPS Processing. You ask for Gary Stevens and get transferred to a line where they answer "Legal Department" you ask for Gary Stevens and get put on hold for an eternity with no one ever returning to the line. I am pretty much alway home but no one ever showed up with papers and if they did, they didn't leave a notice!!! I have no idea what this is about and now I get voicemail messages without even a call.  This is really weird. The phone never rings, never shows an incoming call, just beeps that I have a voicemail. I just called again and got the same responses except after the transfer, this time I got a voicemail for a Melissa Levy in legal.  I left a very extensive message about all the calls and the times I have tried to call back. I told her I am always home as I have not worked in 2 years I even told her that I contacted the county courthouse with the so called case number and was informed that this was no case number for my county and that they believed it to be a bogus attempt to gain access to my personal information.  I also left a message for Melissa to come serve me as I have no idea what this is about. We shall see.

In response to your message about courts being the only ones to issue a garnishment.  When I spoke to the Washington County Courthouse, they told me they deal in judgements. They do not issue garnishments. They said that Lawyers issue garnishments.

    Ouch,

You can get a judgement and a garnishment without going to court.  Sucks but true.  I have one.  Apparently when I moved and had all my mail transferred to my post box without leaving a physical address.  This service company went to my post box (privately held not US Postal Service), they tried to serve me through the manager at the counter.  The manager told her she would not and could not even touch the document as it was against policy and against the law as she did not know me personally.  The server laid the paper on the counter (at the UPS store) and said, "tell her she has been served".  Well, I don't check my box on a regular basis as it is a distance from my home.  When I went in almost two weeks after this happened, I was standing at the counter to pick up a package that was too big for the box and noticed this summons sitting on the counter with my name on it. I asked what it was and was informed of the situation.  This summons sat out in the open for everyone that came into this store to view for almost two weeks.  It was not in an envelope or any kind of cover.  I could have stood in line and read the whole thing.  Anyway, by the time I got around to calling the courthouse, the case had already gone before the Judge and there was no way to get it reversed. Because I failed to appear in court, they won by default.  I now have a judgement recorded with the County against me that was for a medical bill of $113.00. Now with all the interest and court fees along with Judgement fees it is nearly $1500.00.  I don't have a job since loosing mine in 2009, so they can't garnish my wages.  They have however contacted my bank and tried to but a garnishment on my bank account.  Sorry account closed - no money.  All these calls are being recorded by them to show the court they made an attempt to contact each and every one of you out there.  Try to protect yourself by recording all your call attempts as well.  One last note.  I talked to a Bankruptcy Lawyer and found out that you can get a judgement cleared if you file.

I tried to obtain an address from them as my attorney requires that I do so for further investigation and they are VERY persistant in changing the conversation and going back to getting a credit card number.

    That's a very strange answer.
A family member was presented a notice by the county sheriff's department of a doctor's intent to sue.
Ignored it of course, so about a month later, guess what?
FTA, judgement was granted and garnishment was approved by the county COURT!
So someone there gave you the wrong info.
