Received a letter in the mail saying that I have qualified for an award of roundtrip airfare for two. They attempted to contact me several times...etc. This scam is exactly like the one for 1-888-844-1603.  Except the letterhead says Roebuck & Schmidt.  Letter also signed by Mark Sims, VP, Travel Awards Division.  Company does not come up on google despite supposedly being in NY, Mass, Penn, Ill, WA, and CO.  Will NOT call the number.

I also received this letter mentioned above:  "I am pleased to inform you that you have qualified for an award of roundtrip airfare for two.  Congratulations.  This airfare is valid for travel anywhere in the coninental US.  The retail value of this award is up to $1,400.00. Certain Restrictions apply."  Also indicates I must respond (with a yes or no) no later than March 5th, 2010.  Signed Mark Sims, VP Travel Awards Division.  Header Logo is Roebuck & Schmidt R&S.  No address or other identifying information.  Envelope was hand-written, no post office stamp (indicating what city it came from).  I will not be responding to this.

I just received the exact same letter as above with the same handwritten envelope. I will not be calling the number either.

I too received the Roebuck & Schmidt 'Must respond no later than March 5th, 2010' letter with what appeared to be a hand written address (though no doubt a lazy font) and was addressed to my correct first and last name. Confirmation number 2611 and all other details identical to everyone elses. Have no intention of responding to the same 888-827-3171 toll free number... SCUM!

I neglected to specify that as far as I know, I have never received a call from their Call Center. Just the letter out of the blue...

Same letter arrived in the mail today. Handwritten envelope with no return address and presorted stamp. I won't repeat the letter, as it matches the others. Same Mark Sims VP. The letter indicates they have attempted to contact me "several times without success." However, I have been at home for the past few weeks and have not had a call from them.

The letter claims that Roebuck & Schmidt are in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Washington, & Colorado. Since I'm in Washington and familiar with their Dept. of Revenue website, I searched for businesses in Washington starting with Roebuck and no surprise, they were not on the list. I'm not sure what they are after, but it wouldn't surprise me if it involved credit card and/or Social Security numbers. Needless to say, I'm not taking the bait.

Called the number using Google Voice (a SanFrancisco #) turns out they are Tranquility Travel in Lynnwood WA, looking for couples to buy vacation plans. The offer may be real, but a hard sell and you go on to a "warm sales" list.

Just curious, Sounds like we all got the same letter in todays mail from Roebuck & Schmidt.  Interesting how there is no return address on this document at all, not even on the envelope.  Just more junk mail.

I am definitely not into Time-Share Properties, if that is what this is all about.

Lets compare if we have the same confirmation number.  You first.

    In the shredder it goes.

Same crap travel award garbage. I live in Seattle. All it's missing is the long lost relative in Nigeria. I'm sure they'll net thousands of elderly people who can't afford the garbage they're trying to peddle. Congratulations "Mark"

Is it just me or does Mark have rather female hand writing?

Yup.  I live in LFP, too and received the same letter.  They apparently couldn't even bother to change the confirmation number from one letter to the other.  It's amazing how people expect other folks to fall for this stuff.  Although I suppose some must.  I'll have to admit that I'm curious to know what they're selling, but I sure don't want to get on another annoying list I can't get off.  I get enough 800 solicitation phone calls now!  The dynamics of this kind of thing are fascinating.  And, yes, the handwriting looks feminine to me, too.  Is there really a type font that looks that convincing?

Thanks Gaveitatry, I received the same letter. Knew it was bogus simply by the kind of stamp that was on the envelope. Besides, if they had of actually tried to contact me they would have been able to. I happen to live in Lynnwood, WA. Sure wish I could find an address on these folks, I'd like to do some harassing of my own on them.

    Bothell, WA here.

This is why I love the internet - all it takes is a search on Roebuck & Schmidt and the phone number, and the answers to my suspicions are revealed.

Nice try with the the hand written envelope. Not today, scammers.
