I did not receive a call but a letter arrived addressed to me from FINN & GILLIAM, stating, "... Congratulations, you have qualified for an award of roundtrip airfare for two anywhere in the continental US...Certain restrictions apply..."  It was signed by Mark Sims, Vice President, Travel Awards Division. I am to call 888-827-3172 ASAP. Confirmation #2612.
I am going to call the number today and will report back my findings on this great website here.

I have also received a letter? Have you replied?  Is it fake?

I received one of these letters from Finn and Gilliam stating I have "qualified for an award of roudntrip airfare for two."  I ave confirmation number 8940.  The envelope was hand addressed and had no return address.  It appeared to be hand signed by a Mark Sims.  I generally toss these sorts of things but I was intrigued by the cute fish logo blowing bubble.  I'm thinking it's just another hoax or phishing scam.

What a joke!  I haven't and won't call the 888 number because I have the same confirmation number 2612 from Mr. Mark Sims.

If this is a scam (which I'm 99.9% sure it is), it should come back to haunt the people that started it.  I Googled Finn & Gilliam and only found 800notes.com to have any information on this "firm".  Wouldn't you think a company like this would have a website, phone number, or some kind of web presence?

If anyone learns more about this Finn & Gilliam "promotion", post it please.  If this is a scam, let's found out who the scam artist is and expose them for the knuckleheads they are!

This is a incredibly inept (maybe not ...) bill collection scheme.

These people contacted you by mail because you are delinquent and irresponsible with your finances. (You havent paid a bill, credit card, loan, bank, etc. etc. and you are hiding from them!)  They have tried to contact you and you are hiding behind your answering machine, caller ID or whatever. How better to FINALLY get the creditor on the phone than to tell them they've WON SOMETHING?  DUH !

Hey Scott, No we are not braindead. It is not a collection agency either, I know this because I am, not nor have ever been delinquent on a bill I owe.

I do believe the scam works like this. You call saying you recieved a letter, They tell you, you've won airline tickets but you have to check out some insurence seminare or a timeshare whatever or maybe you have to book your rooms wherever you go in advance of getting vouchers for flight.

Either way it's most likely a bunch of B.S.

I do NOT owe on any credit cards or other bills and I too have received this phony letter. So it is not coming to people who owe on bills. Mine are all caught up and have been for many years.

Same letter... FINN & GILLIAM, confirmation number: 8940. States they have been trying to contact me several times without success. Hand signed, envelope is also handwritten with no retun address. Has a presorted stamp, which makes me think this is just some more junk mail. Guess this one is going around quickly, and many in Maine lol.

Um, no we are not brain dead.  This is not a collection scheme, and I do not hide from my creditors.  You better do some research before you make false accusations.

Huh.   Yup, I have the exact same letter, hand addressed, Confirmation # 8940.   Although I have been known to forget a payment once in a while, my credit score is excellent.   I wonder if this is indeed another way to trawl for vacation time shares.   I'm so Curious though!!   Has nobody called them??

I called the number and it was to schedule an appointment for me and my wife to listen to a travel agency explain why we should use their services.
No obligation of course. In order to "qualify," I had to answer several questions about employment, combined income, and if I have a major credit card. It was actually very low-key and non-threatening. They said I would absolutely receive a voucher for air travel, UP to $1400 value.
Sounds like you sign up for a "subscription" to their services or something and you pay every month for their "discounted" deals, etc.

Must not be a credit thing...no debt here either...we are also not being chased by the cops...so not a bait and catch scheme...we also have the #8940...we won't call either...good luck to the lucky one...I did notice no return address on the envelope...scheme!

Received a letter addressed to my late parents' last name and a first initial that doesn't match either one, no return address, no postage no cancellation.  How could this have been delivered by the USPS???  I am definitely not calling them back, but this is just plain odd.

What a rude and inaccurate presumptive posting, scottfree!!  It is nothing of the sort, and if you did your homework, you'd realize how wrong your assumptions are.  Calling people "BRAINDEAD" because they are suspicious of something??  That is an interesting approach.  The scam has nothing to do with bill collections at all.  You are a mean person and shouldn't be so quick to tell people how dumb they are, when in fact, you are the one with poor judgement and deductive reasoning skills.

Received a letter as well, conf # 8940...bro works for USPS will bring his attention to uncancelled stamp...not calling either.
