I got the same message today via text so did my son. Then they called me from a local area. I had already looked this up and read what you all had said. When they had called hours later they asked me if I still lived at a residence I moved from 10 years ago. Insisted they were trying to prevent further legal action as if I am going to be arrested which is humorous I have done nothing wrong! I am disabled I don’t even drive! They gave me a case number and a phone number to call. 888-845-2169 ! Case number similar 413007@ I will keep last # to myself . Has anyone figured out what exactly they are trying to get? Is it personal information? I wouldn’t even give them an updated address.

I just got the same call and text message. They wanted to collect on an old credit card debt from 2012, and it was charged off, but they are still wanting to process this in court.

Simply an accounting term to remove the asset from the books.  Doesn't mean that you don't still owe the debt.  Everything else that you need to know has already been posted.

Depends on what state you are in.  The Statute of Limitations runs anywhere from 3 years to 15 years.
