- Justin Case replies to CABThe purpose of this site is to inform and share ways on how to stop unwanted and bad calls. Few, if any, posters are able to stop calls as they're not likely working for any phone companies. All they can do is offer advice on how to stop them yourself. When a vast majority of the calls are coming from across the world, phone companies can do little to stop the calls. As Tamianth advises, either block the calls if possible, or simply ignore them in all ways. Nobody on here can stop who calls who.
- StacyAn African American lady named Jan Jones called me with a southern accent from a Los Angeles phone number 213-379-9046 said she was from AFS legal department and that I had a debt from June 2008 for an internet loan I never paid. Said I owed $855.00 and that if I didn't pay today that she would turn it over to Clark County police department to further criminal charges. I asked for some type of validation she stated that she was not a collection department but "legal" and said I was at the last stage then became very loud, rude and threatening. I kept dialog and kept asking questions about who she was so I could write it down. The scary part is that she had all of my family members names, my work number etc. I then searched the phone number online and found this site and a host of other negative scam alerts!! Unfortunately before I realized it I had given her my address...stupid me but do not fall for it. I told her unless she could send me info on the debt I would not pay her anything. She claimed she could not and then transferred me to another department and it appeared to be her voice. I hung up and blocked the number.

- ChloeScam. This is the third time they have called me claiming I owe on a 7yr old payday loan debt. I have only ever taken out one pay day loan and it was paid pack immediately. This happened years ago and I called that company and they said to be careful because an old client list had gotten out and not to pay. Each time I have told this 'debt collector' that this isn't true, that I am up on my credit and want them to send me proof they refuse and tell me that they will note that I refused to pay and that it would go to a judge. Ridiculous scare tactics and they just get angry if you don't rise to the bait.

- Tammy| 1 replyThe number calls me from 213-379-9046. I never answer because I don't recognize the number and then calls my sister asking her how she is affiliated with me and leaves a name and number Nicolas Wright at 888-870-4030 Ext 1042. I called it back and a lady named Angela answered and kept saying please hold I a trying to find which floor you are on and I said what is this regarding and she said she doesn't know because her dept is fraud. She sends me to an extension and I left a voicemail that I read they were scammers. How can they threaten us if we haven't had any letters? I don't even know what it is about but my sister said he was foreign and she couldn't understand. Opinions?

- AimesThis lady Delores ext 1048 says they are trying to get a hold of me for a loan I had with Alpine Direct Services in 2008 she says the loan amount was $454.95 it's racked up to $7,632. I informed this lady my identity was stolen in 2008 she couldn't find my police report. She asked what county I told her still couldn't find it well I have one I told her. She goes to say that Alpine tried several times to get a hold of me and has my address I said well they lied to you because I haven't seen anything in the mail. If you are who you say you are and have my address then send me something in the mail to me. She goes to say they need to settle this by the end of the week. Well I said I don't care who you are I'm not handing anything of my banking info over the phone to you and hung up.

- PCalled my husbands cell at 6am, they asked for me, they did not have my last name but had my date of birth and last 4 of my SSN. Said they were were going to send an old Best Buy account to litigation and left 888-870-4030 ext 1004 to call back. I did have a Best Buy account that went to collections years ago, so I'm unsure if this is a legit company.

- V. AnneThese people are relentless in calling for a relative of mind who lives in Kentucky. Not sure if it's the same company since the calls come from different numbers. They call daily demanding that I or the relative give them a call. I have relayed the information to my relative and asked her to follow up and that's all I can do. I have asked them not to call my house because I DO NOT OWE THEM ANYTHING and I don't even know who they are since they will not provide a legitimate company name. When asking them to repeat the name of the company, I am told it's confidential services. Then when I dialed the number back, the person answered "AFS."

- sharonI received a call this morning at my job. I have gotten a call before and had asked that they not call me at work. However, I was called today before I arrived to work. The message was that I would be going to jail and the police will be coming to my job and get me today. This was the message that they also left for my supervisor and the company receptionist. I am upset that they continue to call me, but more importantly I am upset that my supervisor and the receptionist knows about a debt. This is a small company, so by lunch I am sure everyone here will know about the call. I have been receiving calls from this number for weeks and not just one call a day but several calls all day long. HELP!!!

- They're Calling Me TooI got numerous calls from this number since June. They are a scam. You are entitled to a validation of debt in writing. Don't give them any information. If they read your social security number and the last four digits from your checking account to you, don't acknowledge them. They are trying to collect on alleged payday loans from 2008. Each state has a statute of limitations for debt collection. Find out what your state's statute of limitation is. Don't let them tell you the statute doesn't apply. They figure people aren't going to know about a statute of limitations. In my state it is 4 years. Don't agreed to any payment plan because that will start the statute clock up again. Don't give them any credit card numbers. Tell them you will discuss the debt ONLY when you receive a validation of debt in writing so you can check to see if you took out a loan and, if so, was it paid in full. They threatened to have my driver's license suspended and have a sheriff track me down and serve me with papers. The only ones who can suspend a driver's license is your state's transportation department. The company's name is AFS. Hang in there and DO NOT let them get any information out of you and DO NOT agree to any payment plans. You should take the call, or return their call, so you can set the record straight and let them know what you are entitled to. They CANNOT send you to jail. You get the upper hand with them. DO NOT let them intimidate you. Hang in there and good luck! First, find out what the loan is about and if you actually took out a loan.
