- Joe replies to Teddy| 1 replyThe American Cancer Society
- rick replies to TeddyI don't know, because I screen and they do not leave a message, but they sure are pesky. They have called everyday for a week now.
- Teddy| 5 repliesHere is what will stops the calls after receiving at least 1 call. I have used it with my Cox digital account it is called "Selective Call Rejection"
I stopped using Do Not Call, as it is useless, as are most Government programs.
First check with your telephone company to see if the offer "Selective Call Rejection" some might, get it. If not here is one site that explains the process and you can decide if you want it. I have listed 13 calls with this and have never been called again once I listed the number on "Selective Call Rejection". It works take it from one who has it and would not have any other type to stop unwanted calls.

- NanaCalled while I was faxing this morning and ruined that. Now I have to start all over.
- Caller: Unknown
- Rockhammer replies to Teddy| 1 replyDo not call was not intended to block charitable organizations or political solicitations. Only sales calls.
- KatyIt is American Cancer Society. They weren't looking for donation, just someone to mail letters to your neighbor. I answered because two months ago we were receiving numerous calls from telemarketers. It took me a while to collect the information (time, dates, etc.) but I composed a letter and sent it to our State Attorney General. We have since received letters from various companies "apologizing" for the situation, and the calls have stopped.
- Call type: Valid
- Carol replies to TeddyDoes COX offer this feature? Do I have to call them or can I find it on my COX home page somewhere? Thanks.
- Soup| 1 replyI am on the do not call list and have been getting unwanted calls from The american cancer society, discover, resource services....

YIKES. - ElaineI did not answer the call, but have them numerous times I would not try to collect for them again.
- RogerCalls every evening sometimes twice. Getting tired of it
- SCUser| 1 replyAnother ROBO call but this is a little (more than a little) different. I returned the call and got a recorded message from The Cancer Society with a phone number where I could talk to a real person. 866-735-7227
I asked that person to remove my phone number from their call list and was told it would be done. Very nice lady who sounded like she really wanted to help. BIG difference from other calls of this type I have received.- Caller: Cancer Society
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- InOhioI've been getting calls from this number. I tried calling the number posted by SCUser to opt out of them, but that's not the right number. Maybe a typo, but the number is 866-435-7227. I called back the 888-932-7007 number and was giving the other one to talk to a Rep. I've called now and no one answers. Maybe because it's Saturday.
- Caller: American Cancer Society
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Steve in WACaller asked for my wife. I said, "She's not in, can I take a message?" She said, "No, that's okay I can call again later." Obviously not willing to leave a message.
- KGI don't answer it.
- Caller: None shown
- munyiaSomeone on this list said it's the cancer society but if so... why do they not identify themselves on caller ID? I called the AMC and reported this number to them.. They didn't seem interested in really listening to me but made sure to ask for my name and phone number. It's a shame because if this is a legit call... they are losing money for a good organization. From volunteering for them locally, I have discovered that they are not very efficient and duplicate a lot of work.
- See The Big Picture replies to RockhammerThat's correct. But it's still a form of "sales" call, i.e., solicitation, if it is from a charity or political group.
More importantly, it's a reflection on our legislative and judicial system that they don't understand free speech only applies on public property under the United States constitution. To call my persoanl phone number or enter my private property constitutes trepassing (I did not give them permission to "enter" on my space).
Any organization of any kind or philosophy that places unsolicited calls to me looses my interest in helping them very quickly.
Plus, in today's world, you really don't know if the call is from a legitimate source. Are they attempting identity theft? Profiling? - k.a.h.Not a 'robo' call -- a human addressed us by name. I enquired who they were calling on behalf of. She said "cancer" something -- NOT "American Cancer Society", BTW. Based on what the Caller-ID said I infer that this is a calling service, not the entity per se. I requested to be placed on their internal "Do Not Call" list and hung up.
- Caller: solicitation service
- cillakepConstant calls from this number. When answered, there is no one there. Do not leave a message. Driving me crazy.
