- ffdesit| 1 replyA male answered and stated that the company name was Corporate Colonial Asset Management out of California. They could not give me any further information, but this is the second instance that they have tried to deliver a court summons. The caller can never provide sufficient information or documentation. A previous google search showed this company to be a scam.

"IF they do not provide you with the verification of the debt, the debt is invalid and not subject to collection. PAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT, AND ONLY THEN IF YOU FEEL THE DEBT IS VALID - otherwise, let them sue you for the debt, as a real law firm will only bring a legal action on a truly valid debt".

- Teresa Attaway| 3 repliesSomeone called from this number and left a messg. with the secretary that I had a court summons and a court date and that I was going to be charged in contempt and would be arrested. I know nothing of this company and think it's illegal to leave this type of messg with an employer.

- jj| 1 replyThis is a debt collection business using illegal practices to cllect debts claimng that there is a summons. This company needs to be sued for unfair debt collection procedures.
- thesaleslady| 1 replyMother calls me to tell me that this company called and asked for me. I have not lived with my parents in over 10 yrs. Said same things to her, like I have a case number, they have attempted to reach me and have a summons. I used to work in Collections as a sales pro. I know how they intimidate. But it is unlawful for this collection agency to use false information to solicit a response.

- ScamMaster| 2 repliesMy phone call from Colonial Asset Management reflects the same scam that has been referenced by you guys. They called from 888-959-1534 claiming that someone had tried to deliver a summons. (1) I've done collections (2) I've done more than 10 years as legal secretary...
I confronted them professionally and said I didn't care about what they were talking about. If I owed a bill, I'd be willing to pay it. Before we negotiated a debt (another joke) I wanted to know the city, state and file number of the complaint... He told me he wasn't going to talk to me about that. We could ONLY talk about the debt. (3) Just before he'd told me he normally doesn't talk to clients. He just answers court questions. He was trying to convince me if I didn't pay my $400 bill (which I don't think I even owe) it could cost me up to $2500.
Long story short when I demanded the court information - PUBLIC INFORMATION BY THE WAY - he hung up on me. What fools. NEVER PAY A BILL UNLESS THEY ARE WILLING TO MAIL YOU AN AGREEMENT - OR - YOU CAN CONFIRM VIA YOUR CREDIT REPORT WHO THEY ARE. I don't know if this is a collection call or someone preying on us - hoping that we don't know who we owe.- Caller: Colonial Asset Management

- JMD| 2 repliesI also received a call at work from Colonial Legal. They provided a case number. I called them back to get the information about this. He told me this was a debt from 2004 and had gone through 3 collection agencies and now it was owned by them. The debt had been written off by the original company and now I was being taken to court for a 10 year judgment to have 25% of my wages garnished for that length of time until I paid $2,555.63. The original debt was for $1,055.63. He said the original creditor was EZ Payday of Oklahoma. I've never even been to Oklahoma. They made this sound really correct. I just told him that I would wait for paperwork just to verify this information was correct. He said he would be willing to settle out of court with me and so I told him I was not comfortable just giving money to someone when I didnt even know if this was for real. He gave me his name as Adam Wright and a telephone number to call him directly. Wow... This is ridiculous.

received phone call asking for a person of my name and saying they wanted to give me a summons to appear in court for my owing $15,000 on an unpaid credit card from 2002, and was my address, he quoted my address, the right address and said he would be by in 2hours. when i asked what this was about , he acted surprised that hadnt received any papers, nevertheless he would have to deliver the summons. i asked for 24 hours to see an attorney. went to an attorney's office who ran a credit check. the credit check showed i owed no one anything. the caller had said they were filling within a ten year statue of limitation. the attorney said the statute of limitation was 4 years. im suppose to receive the summons tomorrow. im looking forward to it.- Caller: no name given

- Ms Linda replies to Teresa Attaway| 1 replyI too received a call from 888-959-1534 and was told the same thing. The first time this happened, was August of 2011 and in September I was arrested for reason's unknown but the warrant was still good. After the 5th day of being incarcarated with a contempt of court and failure to appear and no bond; Friends and family still calling to find out the reason, was finally told "Child Support"! This was a joke, all my children were grown with children and spouses of their own. So after my children approached the DA, found out it was from a debt that was well over 10 yrs old and the owner had written it off, but a attorney firm bought it and was after me for it, after all these years. They did not have with any updated information on me. I was stopped on a traffic stop for head lights not being on. I spent 16 days in jail; my daughter paid a total of $850.00, I was released and never saw a judge or jury.
Again tonight I received a call on my "Safe Link" phone. I wonder how they got this number. Not sure if it's the same company, they never would say. Fraudulent Practice is all I see. But I need to know how to fight this. I have not been gainfully employed since 2005 and I am 100% disable. - Ms Linda replies to thesalesladyThis could be. If the debt was purchased by an attorney, and they have tried to reach you, but they really don't try. they don't do any work on the case as they purchae it; the attorney using false practice, has a judge to sign off on "failure to appear" and Contempt of court". Then when you are arrested on a simple traffic stop, the warrant for your arrest comes into play. And no one will know what or who it is related to. Check with your sheriff's dept. but be prepared if you are detained. Another way is to check your credit report and see if there is any negative reports and contact them from the information on your report.
- Ms Linda replies to WmAfter reading thru everyone's experiences on this company, and I had the same experience last year prior to the November voting and now having a call this month, one month before the July primaries, I can't help but believe that if there is a summons for you to appear in court, and you do not and it becomes a Failure to appear warrant, this could cause a lot of people to miss their voting rights. VOTE and obtain a absent bailot if you have to. Either way, we have got to unite and fight this. A class action suite maybe the answer.
- Ms. Linda replies to feetxxxlDo did the summons show up?
- MJC| 1 replyI had a similar call and from the get go I knew it was a scam. The deal with these guys is that they are a shell company for Enterprise United Partners Inc. in Chino CA. which in turn is a shell for Hamner Investments Ltd. in Vero Beach Fla.
Robert Bruce CPA in Chino CA is the listed registrant of Enterprise United and the Head of Enterprise is Paul Tossinian of Riverside CA. They also have a "Law" and I use the term lightly office in NYC called Mitchell N. Kay law office but if you trace the numbers backward they all lead to Enterprise United Partners.
They are a slippery bunch and hide behind UPS Store front mail boxes (to be sure they never get any registered letters)
Knowing the legal corporate structure is the only way to file suit against them as the Colonial Asset Management appears to be an unregistered front.
I contacted The Warren Group in NJ to represent me in my suit against them and I suggest you do the same.- Caller: Colonial Asset Management

- Darci| 1 replyI received a call from a "courier" company stating they had a court summons for me. Since I had no clue what this was about they gave me the number as referenced above to contact for more information as well as a case number. This company had 4 different addresses for me as well as the last 4 of my social security number. They told me I owed $2336 and if I didn't pay it a judgement would be filed against me for 10 years and I'd then owe $4836. They kept hassling me for a payment over the phone for a lump sum, and I just would not do it without any documentation of the debt. I even called around to a few different banks as well as got a copy of my credit report.
The information just was not adding up that I got from all the different companies. After researching phone numbers, and googling some information I found that this was a scam.- Caller: Colonial Asset Company

- DianaI received a call at my job from the same place and they also called themselves Colonial Management. A guy named David James had called on my day off and left a message with my assistant. He told her that I am being erved papers and that this is a legal matter in which I can be arrested. My assistant panicked and thought I was in some kind of trouble so she contacted me immediately. However, I recognized the guys name. Over a year ago I began receiving similiar calls at my job. They were calling me and harassing me so bad that I would leave work early in tears. They were trying to collect money from a debt they said that I owed. They told me I have a warrant out for my arrest and I'd better hope that I don't get pulled over by the police because I'm looking at no less than 6 months prison time. I was mortified and scared because I am a single parent of 2 small children. I tried hard to get the money for them but my best friend told me that she thought they were scammers. She did some investigation for me and it was true - they were scammers who had gotten my info and used an old debt against me. They harassed me for 2 months then stopped. Now they sporadically call me and I let them know I filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office and they leave me alone for a while.
