- Headache callerThey called my mom saying they had a pending case number. 245-00653. They said she was listed as a reference. She is not on anything I have in the past 10 years. Scammers. Might be one of those zombie bill collectors.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Another IncidentCall came in from "RESTRICTED" - so I assume scam from start. They left message. Call from "David McCoy", in regard to Gwenn Curvers who listed me as a reference for First Equity and wanted me to call back to verify location information. I don't know any Gwenn, and there was no spelling of name - Scam.. First Equity was all that was stated as company with complaint - generic company name so another scam indicator. Wanted me to call 888-959-6284, with case account number 22000306. Minor threat stating that this was courtesy call before serving legal papers to Gwynn Curvers. Assuming Scam and will not be calling any number. Found this site, so reporting another incident.

- BigA replies to JanetIf you feel your SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS. Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I reviewed all 3 of my credit reports just now to see if anyone is soft pulling my credit. I have a permanent block on my LexusNexis file & other consumer files. Nobody appears to be looking for me. This doesn’t appear legitimate, but I’m definitely not going to respond to them. Numbers have been blocked with the phone company & I’m now using call/text filtering apps:
