    informed?
When I call the real wu customer service number wanting to talk to Compliance, I am told that Compliance only communicates by email.  Their Compliance did email me a huge questionairre form to fill out....
which was the same questionairre form they sent me half a year ago.  Good luck in trying to get a call transferred to the Compliance department.4  Whenever Compliance wants to check me out, my transfer gets blocked and refunded.  Wu takes weeks to respond to the questionnaire form.  This form's questions imply that I am a business.

    Worried
In the past month,888-983-6846 called my cell twice, landline once, each time, claiming to be Western Union and telling me there's a problem with my transaction, please call back (to a number I no longer have ... 773 something - google showed it as a landline in NJ), and to quote a long case number.  Instead, I called WU's online number and twice had it confirmed that ... the case number is bogus.  The 773 number is not owned by WU.  There was no problem with my account.  I reported the event to the WU Fraud Dept., but since there was no crime committed (that I yet know of), there's nothing to investigate.
Today, I transferred money, again, overseas.  Within minutes, 888-983-6846 left a message saying there is a problem with my transfer, and a refund is being authorized.  Please return the call to the 773 number.  Leery, I returned to the store where I made the transfer and used the WU phone to inquire about the problem. My call was transferred 3x.  The final transfer was made by a man with an incomprehensible accent.  Unlike all the previous calls, there was no background noise.  The final call was with "Matthew" (though he certainly didn't sound like a Matthew), and he claimed to be from the WU Compliance Department.  He had ALL the details of my previous transfers, and asked me to confirm several (name, address, ph number, recipients).  He told me I was entitled to a refund for today's transfer (which I later obtained), but that I was now blocked from WU until I completed a Compliance Interview, required of all "high volume" users.  (5x in a month = high volume?)  In the interview, he asked more personal information - employment, household income, where the funds sent were obtained, how I know the recipient, what the transfers were used for.  He said I'm blocked until 1) I email or fax proof of where my funds came from (bank statements or copies of 2013 or 2012 tax returns), and 2) provide copies of receipts showing how the recipients used the money.  I haven't forward anything as there seem to be too many absurdities for this to be legitimate, but ... I'm blocked from WU and have no way to verify if this is a really competent sounding scam, or if it is a legitimate (aka legal) WU Compliance process.  Guess who I'll be calling first thing tomorrow?  What's the betting WU Customer Service knows nothing about WU Compliance requirements?  Also, WU requires bank statements or tax filings???  Say it aint so!  And why would my recipients have copies of receipts?   I wish I knew where to turn....

888-983-6846 is actually a GENUINE WU number. You may verify that by calling it yourself.
If someone calls from this number representing WU, it is a genuine call.

WU in fact does sometimes call to verify information. You may call WU and they will tell you the same thing.
Whoever submitted the above message is either not a real WU agent, or WU ploy has changed since he submitted it.

SCAM!! Don't believe them, they are not with Western Union. They're trying to steal your money. If you call back they may seem legit but they're not, they will ask you for the MTCN number to steal your money. That's why those that work for them are posting crap on here saying to call them back, because they will make it seem it's western union but they're not.

I just got a call from them literally a couple minutes after I made a transfer at a local market.
They told me that my transaction wasn't successful and needed my information again.
I just told them that I would cancel my transaction and hung up. Called the WU customer service number provided on their website and was told that this number is NOT them!

    It is a SCAM!

SCAM Dont give any info . They called my husband saying they were from Western Union and they need to confirm some info with him. My husband sends me money using WU monthly ( we are in different countries). They asked for  personal information  but the WEIRD thing was they knew all the transactions he has made, they knew my name and my personal info too. Obviously some bad representatives in WU are seling this info. We are not going to use WU again. Not safe !

Just got a call from a woman with a thick accent, - couldn't place the nationality. She said it was Western Union needing to verify my last 14 months of activity and she needed to start by getting me to give up personal info for "verification". When I asked how I was supposed to verify her, she said I could call back, as if having someone answer the phone pretending to be western union was some kind of verification. I rat a quick search for the number, found this page, said some mean things to her and hung up.

They've been calling and texting me all day. The man and lady leave a message, which sounds like they have a filter on the voices, they sound Pakistani, and they speak too low and fast to understand them.  Funny thing is, I've never used Western Union, nor am I expecting anyone to wire money to me.
