Got charged $1.99 plus tax by Verizon for a call to 900-446-2900. This was stated on the bill as being paid to MCI for Directory Assistance. I never made any such call. What a racket. The charge was so hidden on the bill and I had to expand "details" in order to see the charge. I don't get a paper bill anymore because Verizon won't mail a paper bill if you want to receive and pay electronic bills from your bank, so I wonder how many people will miss this overcharge because they don't log onto Verizon.net, download their bill electronically and examine the details. I'm sick to death of being cheated and lied to by supposedly legitimate companies and given poor service to boot. I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.

Got a flyer on the front door of my home today that said Chase (our mortgage holder) and to call 866-446-8939 number immediately.  Called the number and was directed to call 900-446-2900 - didn't call.

i attempted to dial JP Morgan Chase Banks' 800-935-9935 number from my NET10 cell phone, was not connected but instead got a recording that i would be receiving a text soon and to reply 'y' for yes. I never did get a texted message but would get the same recording every time i tried to reach Chase via that cell phone. Today i dialed the Chase 800 from work and got the recording to "please have a pen ready and write a new directory service number 900-446-2900" which of course i didn't call but googled and found you instead. Thanks for being there with a warning. Hate scams! Is Chase in cahoots...anyone know?

Same story as Shenanigans at MCI. Called MCI late in the day and they told me that I would have to contact the billing company (Champion Communications) to have the charge removed. It was late in the day so only a night person was available and couldn't help me. The next morning another call to MCI and the rep said that she can clear up the bill but it will take a couple of billing cycles to clear it up. Sounds like a rat in here. ******Have all 900 numbers blocked on your phone

I called Verizon to ask for a form for Lifeline.  I spoke to David at Verizon.  He told me to call 877-483-9777 so I could get the form faster.  When I called the 877 # the recording told me to dial 900-446-2900.  I called and was told that there were charges on this # so I immediately hung up.  When the charge of 1.99 showed up on the phone bill from MCI, my husband called Verizon.  The rep was kind enough to remove the charge but apparently wasn't aware of any other charges from others..  I googled the number to find all of you with similiar problems.  I wish someone could investigate this at Verizon.  After all, it was a Verizon Rep who gave me the phony number to begin with.  I will take further steps to the management of Verizon.  Maybe it will help....maybe not!

We received an MCI bill for 4 charges to this number that no one dialed last month. We have no idea how this happened. Our local phone company & MCI say they cannot do anything about it. The Call type is Direct Call. We are told it's a number for Horoscope Dating.

When my wife got her new debit card from Bank of America, the instructions that came with the card said to call 1.888.624.2323 to activate the card.  She called that number and was told to call 900.446.2900.  When she did, she was told she was going to be billed $1.99 per min, at which time she immediately hung up.  Sure enough, when the CenturyLink bill came there was a $1.99 charge for "900 SERVICE" on the bill.  We followed the 900 number bill dispute instructions that CenturyLink provided on the bill and placed the call in "dispute."  The CenturyLink call center person said it would take up to 3 billing cycles before the "disputed call" would be credited or allowed to remain.  It appears from all previous postings that this is a scam that is gaining momentum and us poor dumb smucks are going to have to pay for it until someone in law enforcement investigates it for the fraud that it is.

I got a call from "Steve" from mumble mumble.  When I called the 800 number I was told to call 900-446-2900 and there would be a charge of $1.95.  I did not call it and went to my computer.  Glad to find out I did not get involved in a scam.

The number 800-446-8939 is to Chase Homeowner Assistance dept. at Chase Home Mortgage.
The note left at my door only had the number and brief mesg. on it but no names.
It does not redirect you to any 900 numbers. It is Chase trying to work with you on your home mortgage.
I have dialed this number many times in the past year. No charges ever came up on my bill.
Not trying to defend anyone here but we need to get the facts straight, this is a good number for Chase.
    Thank you. God bless.

please ignore or delete my blog of Aug. 18...i miss-dialed what should have been an 800 number and instead dialed 888. The 800 # for Chase is a good connection and no evil will befall you (that way anyway!)

I was making a call to Liberty Mutual Insurance company's 800 number and accidently inverted a number (dialed 800-648-0238 instead of 800-649-0238).  I got a message that the number had been changed and directed me to the 900-446-2900 number mentioned above. I did not call, but out of curiosity, googled the 900 number.  What a scam.  Who owns it?  how can they get away with it?  I am tired of the deceptions and ripoffs1

I just called  orange county mh to see about a need re a surgery 1-800-732-8641
and they transferred me to a line that said call 1-900-446-2900
and you will be charged 1.99 per minute.

I have the feeling people are using their biz numbers to scam and get a kickback on these bad referrals.

note below- i called them a county contractor they put me on hold i heard some clicks and then the message to call 1-900-446-2900 came on.

I was automatically charged $29.85 to my checking account.  When I looked up 800-775-4046, it referred me to 900-446-2900 and stated that I would be charged 1.99 per minute.  This was a violation of my privacy and personal bank account and I will be contacting my bank and the Better Business Bureau as well as the Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

I did not receive any phone calls.

I just filled a complaint with the FCC and if anyone receives an 800 call asking you to call a 900 number it is a scam,  So google FCC File Compliant and it only takes a few min to fill out an on line compliant fom.
