- martinSame as above. Didn't answer and they didn't bother leaving a message. Apparently it wasn't that important.
- BrianThanks for the posts. I received the same call after not responding to their snail mail inquiry. I'm not sure why they need this information as USAA has it in the first place. Furthermore, in the writen inquiry, it clearly stated that it was NOT necessary to provide it and your policy would default to information on file should there be no response within 5 days. Sounds fishy to me and I wish USAA would either step up and explain or dismiss the program.

- Bo replies to medacThe proper thing to do then is to leave a message so clients can return the call...
- M.SWIFT.IS.BADUSAA - good. M.Swift - BAD. The tactics used are similar to a criminal casing your house or trying to steal your ID.
Bunch of shady characters there it looks like. Unfortunate they are in any way associated with USAA. USAA should rethink their association with M. Swift.
Oh yeah, keep getting calls to my cell phone from them with no message! BAD BAD BAD!! - Cootershowed up on caller ID as Marshall Swift. Left no message. Did not return call.
- tykesyup i got a call from them and didnt give any info. idint trust him/thema t all
- Thund3rb1rdAlso recd call from Marshall Swift. Didn't answer. Don't really know who/what they are or want, but I agree with Brian above. USAA needs to step up and tell it's customers what the hey is going on.
Kind of disappoints me with USAA, tho'. Used to be they were above this sort of thing. Guess times change.- Caller: Marshall Swift
- Anonymous MSBWhen anyone in my family gets a call from an unknown number, I usually google it and come across a site like this. This is exactly what happened on 12/18/09, about 8:30 PM PST. Ny 12 year old son got a call on his cell, and he came in to tell me about it (yes, they hung up). He told me he called back and reached an automated system with Marshall Swift.
Here's the weird thing: I work for Marshall & Swift as a software engineer in their Los Angeles office. Our company provides building cost data for insurance companies across the United States and Canada. I've never had to work directly with anyone in our Tyler, TX office, but I was able to figure out that it is a call center (apparently both incoming support calls and outgoing sales calls). I plan on making a couple of calls next Monday to find out why they're calling my son's cell, and at such a late hour.
I had to chuckle a bit after seeing how everyone jumped to the conclusion that MSB is a some kind of collection agency. With a little bit of detective work (hint hint), Google would have taken you to the MSB site. And with a little MORE detective work, you can search through the employment opportunities and see that the open positions in Tyler, TX relate to sales calls rather than collection positions.
I'll let you know what I find out. Until then, relax a bit. :)- Call type: Unwanted
- hockeymom replies to KC123The next question would be, "What is your dog's name?" Lots of silly people use their pet's names as passwords.

calls several times- Caller: Marshall Swift
- JB| 1 replyWow...interesting reading. I, too, got a call from this number, which listed "Marshall Swift" on caller ID. Funny thing is, I actually ANSWERED the phone and got nothing, nada, zip. Not even heavy breathing or a dial tone. Makes no sense to me... As for the people reporting an association with USAA and a homeowner's insurance questionaire, I got one recently, too, but didn't have time to answer it in the 5 days allotted and so threw it away. No idea if the two are linked, but I personally will not be answering any questions from this company. If it's that important, USAA can call me themselves. (The questionnaire I got from them implied it would potentially be a problem for me if there was a loss on our property and we hadn't updated our info, but did not indicate that it was mandatory, so I don't know why they would go about collecting data this way.) I'm very suspicious.

- VERY Tired of Marshall SwiftThis has happened to me 12 times in the last 8 days and they call when I sleep. WRITE TO USAA AND COMPLAIN - TELL THEM THIS BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE, when enough MEMBERs of USAA complain they will drop this group of clowns!!

- VERY Tired of Marshall Swift replies to medacJust like ACORN you might have some decent people working there but overall your company's business practices are sub-par. If you do not like hearing this FIX IT -- but complaints will continue!
- z1queenieLeft no message. That's why I have caller ID. If I don't know who you are, I don't answer my phone. Tough noogies if you don't leave a message. If you are a reputable business, then leave me a message. I may or may not call back, but at least you have put forth the effort.

- livingthegoodlife| 2 repliesYou all are totally paranoid. Not every call you get is a scam. Marshall Swift is NOT a collection agency. They do building estimates. They have been contracted by USAA to estimate the cost of rebuilding your home for insurance purposes. You can call USAA to verify this. Who cares if they don't leave a message or not? I sometimes don't either when I am calling someone. It probably takes them too much time to leave messages for all the scared people who aren't returning their insurance surveys. You can take the EXACT survey on USAA.com if you are so scared of answering their call. And for heaven's sake, for all the people who are dishonest, not paying their bills and avoiding collections calls, PAY YOUR BILLS! Then you won't have to be scared of calls like this.

- ahdThis USAA link explains it all:
https://www.usaa.com/inet/ent_utils/McStaticPages?key=usaa_home_survey
Quote "If you have received a letter regarding a Property Survey, Marshall & Swift / Boeckh (MSB), a USAA authorized vendor, will be contacting you by phone to update the information about your home characteristics used to determine the replacement value1 of your home. The vendor has been selected because of their experience with home values and construction costs in your area. Their input will help both USAA and you better understand the cost to rebuild your home in the event of a total loss."
People have to be careful and not "paranoid"- Caller: Marshall Swift

- tiredoftelemarketers replies to livingthegoodlifeI just have to disagree with the leaving a message comment. We all got on the do not call list for a reason. You are right, not all calls are a scam, but too many are and even more are unwanted. If the call is legitimate, companies should leave a message and allow the consumer to call back at their convenience!
- Seattle, WAThis number called me at 8:00p.m. on a Monday and left no message on my cell phone. I do not answer calls in which I do not know the number. I called them back later and the answering machine indicated that I had reached Marshall & Swift Beck and then gave me an option for tech. support as well as some other options. I agree with the others in that a professional company should leave a message on your phone. I didn't get the impression this company is trying to scam me, however. I have no overdue debts so I don't think this would be a collection agency after me.
