The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A surveyor is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. The few remaining state lists share this limitation. Note that a telemarketer posing as a surveyor or acting otherwise to promote sales does not enjoy the exemption being feigned. The DNCR is not designed to "stop" anything. Lacking fear of punishment, criminal types with autodialers make a choice to violate laws and commit fraud upon the public. Their adoption of cheap VOIP and Caller ID spoofing and slave wage foreign call centers help them evade detection and law enforcement.

Funny how you think those five minutes are all yours to squander in the first place. I thought it was six minutes with the "very nice lady". What if I want the crabby crone of the call center? Does that burn greater or fewer minutes?

I suspect that there is more to this alleged survey and I base it on what took place on page 2.

I'm with you. Nobody makes whiny objections to consumer complaints without a profit motive. A few comments here suggest a Scam Crop Rotator uses this number. I'm waiting for someone to report utility bill slamming or sales calls for a solar equipment contractor following the survey.

"Market Probe" called my unlisted and "Do Not Call" registered number. Caller ID and number can be spoofed to be anything and the caller didn't leave a message. Smells like just another intrusion and scam. Google them in that area code - can't find that bogus caller.

Called landline. ID displayed MARKET PROBE. Never answer any unsolicitated call. Area code of caller Michigan. I live in NJ. Know no one in Michigan. Do business with no one in Michigan. A legitimate caller will leave a message with their name, company name and valid call back number. That was not done. Therefore they are unprofessional business people, telemarketers, scammers who "spoofed" the number of a legitimate business or criminals looking to profit from gullible, vulnerable, senior, undereducated, etc.

Just called. I  didn't answer; caller did not leave message.

Called my mobile.  Didn't leave a message.  I blocked the number.

Then why are they calling me? I sure the heck don't leave anywhere near Wisconsin, I leave in Texas, and have a Texas area code what the hell

This is a semi-legitimate survey organization.  I have verified with Wisconsin Public Service that they do hire this caller, "Market Probe," to conduct surveys for them.  But the information supplied by the caller was about a recent gas emergency (I don't have gas service) for another person (not me) and they couldn't supply the address or date of the emergency.  WPC looked up the customer name MP gave, and said they existed in the area, but their phone number was not even close to mine.  My guess is Market Probe is hiding behind their semi-legitimate status and trying to gather information they can sell to others, but that's just a guess.  Unlike most bogus scam calls, MP was more polite and communicated better, but they did hang up on me near the end with no way to re-connect.

Left no message. Just another scam.
