same guy, called me twice once his name was shawn tempel and the second time it was troy martin, same scam, I talked to a police man he told me to call him bad names and hang up...there is really not much you can do

John Edwards called from the Department of Legal Affairs to let me know legal action was being taken against me and that I needed to call him back.  He wished me a blessed day at the end of his message, so that made me feel really good.  F**king scammer.

they keep calling me and telling me that I have a past due balance with the irs and if I did not pay it today they will send the sheriff after me. I have told them I was with the portland police department and they hung up right away  

I just received the same message from this "Kevin Green".  He stated the same scam about legal actions, etc.  I know this is a scam because I not only have zero outstanding lawsuits or collections, but I also deal with the IRS often for my husband and my business.  They don't do business that way.  They may stop by your place of business or home, but they won't expect payment over the phone.  They expect payment through direct deposit, via payments on their website or via snail mail.  I have no doubt this is a scam.  If you have any questions on it, call the IRS directly.  They ALWAYS send communication via snail mail prior to any phone calls, and they will never request payment the way these scammers are.

This is why the Internet is awesome: we potential scam victims can Google that bogus number and discover that we are not alone.  Today's scam caller goes by the name of "Troy Martin" and identifies himself as "with the U.S. Treasury Department."  He asks to speak to a named member in your household but won't give any details.  The U.S. Department of the Treasury does not contact individuals this way.  If anything, the IRS might contact you because they found an error in a previous year's tax return.  But they will always do so by U.S. mail and ask you to initiate the phone call.  Here's a good rule of thumb: NEVER ANSWER YOUR PHONE unless you recognize the number.  These days it's either a political call or a scammer.

Thank you for posting online. I got a call from Kevin Green phone number 909-606-5714 saying he was from the Dept. of the Treasury and wanting my husband to call him. It seemed a pretty strange call so I googled his name and got this site. Thank you very much for the warning.

Received a similar call from Kevin Green at 347-539-4266. It sounded very suspicious.

Said I had a warrant for my arrest and to call to discuss the four serious charges against me. Just got to California yesterday. I doubt I’ve committed four “serious” crimes in that time. Scam.

Recorded female voice:  I will be taken into custody by local cops, as there are 4 serious allegations pressed on your name at this moment...blah, blah, blah.

I laughed my butt off, really made my day fun...not; blocked now:  YES.

Just got the same call about 20 min ago about the four serious allegations on my name !  And I'm not even in california!!

Called with same message as Bill and Cheyenne. 3 calls in last 2 hours. So annoying. I never answer the phone if its a number I dont recognize. But these guys leave VM and thats just irritating.

They called and left a.mestage that if I didn't pay my taxes they were coming out to take me to jail.  I'm 71 yrs. and they brought me to tears.

They scared me to death.  I'm 71 yrs. And they had me in tears.  Telling they were coming out to arrest me.  For not paying taxes.  Said they were the IRS.

Claim they were the IRS and we're coming out to arrest me.  I'm 71 yrs.  and had me crying.

Called and stated that I would be picked up by the local cops. Had 4 cases against my name. Requested me to call them.
