- AlfieCalled and left message. Took four times to completely understand the message. Said something about a lottery, a process starting on the 8th of some month and to have our lawyer contacted. What the heck? Sounds like a scam to us, especially since it's out of state, had no 1800 number to call and were definitely not American.
- Not Amused| 1 replyReceived a message from an "Annie Johnson" that clearly had a foreign accent stating she was from the Department of Legal Affairs and to call back because she had a very important issue regarding an imposement action against my husbands name. She suggested a retain attorney call on his behalf. We've only received this one message/call so far but based on what I've read from others on a different website, this is a scam. The other complaints sited a different phone number but the same scenario. The call back number given to us is 909-271-9502.
- Caller: "Dept. of Legal Affiars"
- Jaz| 1 replyReceived a message from an unavailable number, and to return a call to phone number 909-271-9502. It was from someone who had poor English and sounded to be from India. He claimed to be Steve Corner, (if I spelled it correctly). His message stated that he was with the department of affairs, and he had important information on the legal imposition against me. I should return his call because this could be a big legal mess. This is a scam attempt to blackmail you. Do not fall for their crap.
- StephanieForeign accent, clearly reading a script regarding a legal mess, retain a lawyer, contact Steve Connor, etcetera. Same as many others have reported. I did not return their call.
- Caller: "Dept of Legal Affairs"
- Call type: Prank

- Peggy| 1 replyJust got a call from them. Knew right away it was a scam. Told them not to call again that I'd sue them. Regarding my daughter who doesn't live here anymore. Told them I was recording them. They told me I was harboring a criminal HA HA!! When I said so you are the Dept of LEgal affaires of the US Treasury right - well let me speak to an attorney. They hung up. I called back and they left an open line. Don't think they'll be calling back as they know I know it's a scam!! What's the first to give them away? The ACCENT of course!!! HE HE HE!!! Idiots!!!

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - CWG40 replies to no oneTotal scam. Originates in either India or Pakistan.

RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail. - Annoyed| 1 replyReceived a message from an "Annie Johnson" that clearly had a foreign accent stating she was from the Department of Legal Affairs and to call back because she had a very important issue regarding an imposement action against my son. She suggested a retain attorney call on his behalf. The caller sounded to be from India. In addition, my son does not live with me and I would doubt seriously he has any kind of legal anything. I have no intention in calling them back.
- Caller: Department of Legal Affairs
- NotFooled| 1 replyA voicemail from a man with a heavy accent claiming to be with the department of legal affairs, saying his name was "Captain Miller". His message was for a person he named to return his call in order to avoid a "legal mess for you". based on the other posts this has to be a SCAM!! On top of that, if we call that number, we will have established a business relationship with these thieves that arguably exempts them from the "do not call" law. We give up whatever protection the law affords, which is minimal.
- Caller: Department of Legal Affairs
- Call type: Debt collector
- ANonieMouseThis is a call from a magicJack device that can be use to call and receive calls into and out of the United States at little or no cost by plugging into an Internet connection anywhere in the world.
Keep that in mind if someone from this number calls you claiming to be from an official government agency threatening you with arrest unless you immediately pay money to them and/or asking you for personal information. - Scam alert| 3 repliesReceived call from 909-271-9502. Caller said he was Kevin Miller, but sounded more like a Rahib Patel. Stated he was from the Department of Legal Affairs and to call back because he had a very important issue regarding an imposement action against my name. He suggested I retain an attorney. This is a scam. The IRS doesn't not call people, so if they are stating anything about owing taxes, it's a scam.
- Ivan replies to Scam alert| 2 repliesI got exactly the same message. I'm glad that all of you have reported this so I feel comfortable that it is a SCAM.
- Jay replies to Ivan| 1 replyJay
- Jay replies to JayExactly the same message from a supposed Kevin Miller. I answered his first call, he started into his speech saying he needed my attorney's information about legal action that has been started in my name. I told him I had no idea what he was taking about and hung up. He actually called back immediately and left a message saying I needed to call him right away about this legal action started in my name. Definitely Indian.
- SusanJust like everyone else, I received a call from 909-271-9502 stating his name was "Kevin Miller" and was going to report me and take legal action if I didn't call him back. I immediately googled the number and found this site. Complete scam!! Not falling for it!
- Caller: Dept of Legal Affairs
- Call type: Debt collector
- CWG40 replies to AnnoyedI wonder what an "imposement action" is?
- CWG40 replies to NotFooledThese calls originate in either India or Pakistan and are carried out by hard core scammer/extortionists. They pay no attention to any US law. Call blocker is your best bet.
- Marilyn replies to Not AmusedAlso received this same message twice from "Annie Johnson" regarding my daughter who has been married and our of our home for 16 years. Same message about a legal action against her and to have an attorney contact her. She had an accent and appeared to be reading a script. Same call back number.
