- slick willieGot a call from 912-580-6716. No one spoke until I said hello twice (they are using an auto dialer that alerts them when someone actually answers their call). A male with probably an Indian accent came on and said he was from Microsoft and the best I could understand was there was something wrong with my Microsoft software. I stopped him and told him I would not respond to a phone call about such a problem and they would need to notify me by mail if there was a problem and I hung up. I felt this was probably some kind of scam. From looking at other people's remarks, I was right!
- Caller: Unknow - scam?
- CwbyMarineI received a call yesterday that I missed die to doing something else, plus I rarely answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. So I did a Google search for the number I found all your posts. I just received another call & the man said that my windows computer has been sending error codes & it needed to be fixed. So I said I didn't know how it was sending messages due to the fact my computer's been off for a few weeks, "Sir, you don't understand. I said it's been sending the error msg's for a few weeks." When I asked what the company's name was he said "We fix your computer". I told him BS & told him I feel it's a scam (& of crs he said "It's not a scam sir ") & that I wanted them to take my number off their records - & speaking of my number there was no way you could have my number. If in fact you were receiving error codes I would get an email - from Microsoft for that matter, because Microsoft wouldn't even have my number.
Sorry for the mini-novel, but I wanted to report all that was said so you know all that they tried to get me on- Caller: We Fix Your Computer (Yeah right)
- naI got I call from this number on a Saturday afternoon. they said they were from Microsoft, and for me to go to my computer and they would fix it ten. I told them no, then after I told them no , the call got fuzzy with a lot of outside noise, then after that the guy who had very little English told me to get on my computer, I told him I could not , then it got fuzzy again, then the guy came back on and told me to get on my computer and let it get fixed right now , I told the rude man, I could not even get up I had surgery the day before , and for him to hang up his [***] and leave me alone, I would have my son to check my computer, then he hung up . this is a scam wanting your information and anything that they can get
- Caller: microsoft
- AnnoyedCalled trying to tell me there were issues with my computer. He rattled off my home address. He said he needed access to my computer to help me "fix it". I told him I would call him back, but he told me I couldn't call him. Then he hung up on me. They've call FOUR times since this morning. Definitely a scam.
- Caller: Microsoft
- PaulineJust got this call, didn't answer. Came straight here, and confirmed my suspicion. Thanks for being here and providing this useful info, everyone!!!
- LisaThis is a scam. Do not give any information. When I told him I knew what he was doing, he hung up.
- BarbI received a call from this number and as soon as he spoke, I knew it was a scam, he had a thick India accent. I told him to drop dead and hung up.
- Caller: Don't know
- DavidSame as above. Woman who doesn't speak english very well trying to tell me something about my computer.
<CLICK> - ThatBoiseGuyThe front part of the scam is well outlined by other posters. Here's the back half of the scam.
The caller tries to build your trust by having you do some commands that will lead the naive computer user to think that the caller is in fact working for MicroSoft. As an example, they had me look at the error log on my computer (Oh my! So many errors!) to prove I needed help. They also had me run a command to display a number, which they claimed was the "secret registration number for my unique copy of windows". The caller read this number to me, implying that they had access to the unique system information. In truth, it's the same number for everyone with a copy of Windows.
The killer is that they wanted me to go to www . mshelp . tk - telling me the ".tk" stands for "technical knowledge". The ".tk" actually indicates the web site is registered in Tokelou - an area in New Zealand. Before I entered the command, I hung up on them, and got an immediate call back from the, hoping to pick up where they left off. I made it clear I knew they were running a scam and not to bother calling again. I'm guessing the web site downloads an application to allow them to take over your PC, browse files for banking information, etc. Obviously, DON'T GO THERE!
I'll close by saying that I think they got my home phone number from a resume' (monster.com?). Some things can't be helped.
Remember that someone calling to offer free technical help to you is just too good to be true. And you know what something too good to be true is...- Caller: Someone caliming to be MicroSoft

- Lorraine HallThis person called my elderly mother and told her that he was from Microsoft and needed to fix her computer. Gained access to her computer. Got her credit card number and charged her for over $100 and called himself "The Computer Dude" on the Discover charge. The access he left himself on her computer for access later was difficult to uninstall. The phone number goes back to a "wireless caller" that goes to voicemail. The Hyperlink to the business goes no where, (www.supremecontrol.com). This is totally a scammer that preys on unsuspecting people. He did leave a link to nanosystems.it but not sure why or what it had to do with anything. It is at least a real sight about growing i.t. businesses.
- Caller: Supreme Control? The Computer Dude
- JackieAs far as I'm concerned, this is a flat out scam. I know for a fact there is nothing wrong with my PC as far as they've mentioned. Someone with an Indian Accent was speaking to me as described in previous comments.
DO NOT pickup, or entertain these people. It is not worth your time. Just hit the "End Call" button and let it be done with.- Caller: Claimed to be from Microsoft
- Indrid ColdRobotic calls with non-human voice, always late at night and seeming to originate from a different dimension. I have to go now and let my pet hippo Lulu out of the garage to do her thing. Don't you love how well the do not call list is working? If you report these calls nothing happens, try it.
