- not MichaelSame scam. Caller was female with a strong Indian or Pakistani accent. She said she was from the "Computer Maintenance Department". When I asked "which company" she repeated "Computer Maintenance Department" so I said "goodbye" and hung up on her. If she calls again I'll block the number.
- Caller: Computer Maintenace Department - scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- EdAt 6:50 PM received a call from this number, a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft and asking for me by name. She said that there was a hijacker (she didn't use that term) on my Windows computer (not unless I let her put one there). I told her that I no longer had a computer. She said it was connected to a Windows server and it had a problem; wanted me to write down some information. I told her I was busy at the moment but that I'd tell the person to whom I'd given the computer that they needed to run a virus scan.
A scam, but not at all credible.

- BCOh darn it! I just got a call from these people and checking here I find it's one of those "your computer has a virus" scams. I wish I'd have answered! So tell me, which of the 12 computers in my office has this virus? One of the windows systems, maybe the linux systems? Or the various tablets I own? Please tell me.
Darn! I'm not gonna block this in hopes these morons call again :-)- Caller: Foreign computer scammer morons
- Ashley replies to LauraSame here they said something about Microsoft computers.. And then gave me a name that they we called looking for Jerry? So I said I'm 16 & my mom pays my phone bill.. But they had given me and address and everything but I was shopping so I ended up hanging up. Since then no call back.
- deniseGot a call from them last night. Yea, they tried telling me my windows needed updating. Knew it was a scam from the start but was in the mood to mess with his mind....gave him the measurements for the windows in my apt and asked how soon they would be installed?? He hung up. But I was quick to inform family and friends about the scam.

- Ev replies to Anonym| 1 replyI have reported this scam before but it went nowhere even after I got a return call where I gave all the info & said I would gladly put a formal complaint in writing. They also took advantage of someone I know who is handicapped & vulnerable. She thought she was signing up for a computer service & went through hell when they tried to steal THOUSANDS of dollars from her bank account. Luckily she did NOT have that kind of money & the bank called to clarify the transaction. If not for the bank's action she would have lost what little she had in her checking account.
- Ev replies to tammyThey don't know. That is just their standard con line.
- Alfalfa replies to EvSomething similar almost happened to an elderly couple several weeks ago. They were almost taken by the pervasive IRS scam, when an alert bank teller, noticing how frightened the woman was, began questioning her and called the police.
- kjI told them I did not own a computer because they "were evil" he didn't know what to reply and just hung up. (P.S. I work in IT!)
- Caller: Claimed Windows
- Phil replies to JohnThat is a great idea. I received a call today from them and I am so lucky I was told about them ahead of time because I don't know much about computers so I don't know what I would have done. This is total BS because I bet they have scammed several elderly people who don't know about computers. Any way I like your idea and I think I will be buying one soon. Thank you
- KellyCaller with a heavy Indian accent called today claiming he was from Microsoft. He also claimed that we were "ignoring" the "error messages" that he was trying to send me. We don't even have a computer here, just a small Nook. His accent was very heavy and he kept demanding that I go to the computer and turn it on so that he could help me. I eventually hung up on him
- Caller: Cell phone GA
- CarrieI just didn't answer - ID said Cell Phone - number was 912-580-6716

- AmberThis number 1-912-580-6716 called and claimed to be from Microsoft. I an not very computer savvy. My computer had been acting up and was really slow. So, when they called and knew all my info it seemed kind of legit. Then, the caller said my Microsoft licence had expired and my computer would continue to malfunction without renewing it. He then said for a 1year licence it would cost me $100.00, and a 2year $175.00 or the best deal for 3years $220. I proceeded to let him know I was not gonna give him any money, and then told him I have never paid for a Microsoft licence, and no one has ever called me from there. He then got irate and started yelling at me. He said its just a little money and what you don't want you're computer fixed. I just hung up at this point. These people are scammers!!!! NO ONE FROM MICROSOFT WILL EVER CALL YOU!
- Caller: unknown-claimed they were from microsoft

- SKIP replies to Dormer CollierIt is so sad that these callers have to make a living in such a sham. I actually do feel sorry for them as i think we all are so much better off than they are....Can you imagine trying to make a living dealing with people like us?
- SKIP replies to RobynAnd again.......I feel sorry for someone that has to do this for a living. We all are far better off than they are......It is irritating but still such a lousy way to try and make a buck/rupie.......
