I recieved a random call from them on 4 March at about 9:30am telling me I was entered in a contest to win millions of dollars, etc.  However they only asked me for my age and what I did for a living.  Because I'm in college I told them I wasn't doing anything except going to school.  He sounded somewhat suprised andhasn't called back since.  Everyone, just tell them that you are a college student and not working at the moment, and they obviously get turned off by that!

I think that is a load of crap!!!!! Any person or business calling another person or business 3 times or more in a 24 hour period is telephone harassent! Look it up! If you really worked for that company you'd get fired for giving out that kind of information. Thanks for waking up my sick child who ever it was that called.

I just got a call a few minutes ago and she said she was calling from the "Publishers Sweepstakes" and that i'm being entered to win a million dollars. They asked my age and what credit card i'm happy with..mastercard, visa, etc...do not give them any information! It's clearly a scam. Unfortunately i gave them my age and let them know what credit card i am happy with but never gave my number out. When i called the number back it did say Publishers Sweepstake...but they can easily record that on their machine. Just tell them to screw themselves.

I got a call from this number at 9:15 this morning. It rang once, I answered, and they hung up. What is the point of that? I don't dial numbers from people I don't know who hang up. If I'm curious, I google them. So stupid.

My wife just got this call today, we live in FLORIDA.  The caller knew her name too! and he said Hello,  I'm calling to notify you that you can win a million dollars etc etc.. my wife said she was busy, and the guy said: "can you step out of your meeting, so I can explain you how you can claim your million dollars"?

How can we investigate this guys to make them stop?  Our numbers are in the do not call list.. what's the point of the list if they can still call randomly?

    fuuuuuuuuuuck! annoying
I just got 2 calls from these M'F'ers.  One at 10:00 am and the second at 12:35 PM. The first time I answered, and the dude on the other line was ordering a pizza.  I guess he and his fellow [***] telemarketers were deciding what to have for lunch while the autocaller was working.  I've noticed that alot of times with these tele-marketers, that they won't immediately notice that you picked up the phone--it takes a few seconds for the sound to click in or something.  Anyhow, after rattling off a few pizza ingredients and me asking, "ummm...what??" a few times, he hung up.
For the second call, they called me by my name and told me that I've been enrolled in some sweepstakes.  I asked where they'd gotten my info, and they told me something like "a sweepstakes database," or some bs like that.  I asked them to take me off the list, and they hung up.
I just signed up on the gov website for the "donotcall" list. 31 days from today, the registry is supposed to kick in, and i (supposedly) will be able to file a claim with them against any telemarketers who *do* call me.
As far as how they get your number.  I surmise that you don't have to fill out any crazy on-line surveys or promotions for them to get your info--i never did.  I've got a creeping suspicion that alot of places like oil change places, automechanics, or tire companies (I'm not saying only auto related places do this, they are just the first examples to come to mind) probably sell your info to telemarketers to make some extra cash.
It *is* annoying and frustrating, but I'm not sure that getting all upset and pissy, yelling at people, and writing in CAPS LOCK is gonna help any.  Probably the best bet to solve this is to stay calm, don't give up any of your personal information, tell them calmly that you want to be taken off their calling list, hang up, and register with donotcall.  If you're already registered for more than 31 days, file a complaint at donotcall.  Supposedly the offender will be charged $11,000 for each offense.

Fax him my displeasure? Sounds tempting, but I don't think I'd want him to have my fax #.  Can you send us his address?  Maybe we can defecate on his front steps instead.  Or maybe we can Fedex him some Rottweiler poo instead? http://www.donp.com/scamming_the_scammer/

These crooks called me this morning on the way to work, and when I answered, same as above: they hung up.

This evening at 830p, I get a call from the same number (913-248-1105) from some lady saying that I am a finalist in a sweepstakes, grand prize of one million dollars. I evidently was 'entered into it' through a third party subscriber when I signed up to win a pize.

I haven't done one of those idiotic links in years.

This of course already sounded like BS. I asked for more information, was assured that I didn't need to buy anything. I asked for a website and she had to put me on HOLD to find out what it was. She provided the following:

    www.sweepsresults.com/million

When she started in on asking me questions, I told her that I wasn't in much of a trusting mood to provide personal information (what kind of credit cards do I like, etc). Supposedly, she will be calling me back.

    I quiver in anticipation.

The site is bogus. It is just a page with smiling people standing in front of fancy houses, etc. There are no links. The domain alone (sans 'million') is a blank page.

I called the above number back and got a voicemail for "Publishing Renewal Information" at 800-255-2557 (toll free line!) and an additional customer service line of 800-456-6565 (customer service). I will be calling back tomorrow and ripping into someone.

Stay away, and remember, if it sounds too good to be true (You're about to win $1,000,000!!!), chances are, it is. Don't be a stat.
