I appreciate what you are saying. And almost agree with your course of action--to not give to March of Dimes ever again. However, you have to understand it is a MARKETING company that contacts you, not the actual charity. Also, it has not been established that it really is March o' Dimes.

But if one accepts that it is March o Dimes, then they should be admonished and chastised for contracting with a company that is so aggressive and rude, if said marketing company ever answers their own outgoing calls. It is possible that these calls are tracker type calls, that is, finding out just who answers. Then you will get an entirely new number that calls you with a human voice message. Repeatedly.

Oh and if you think that you are on Do Not Call list should apply, think again. Congress in their ever lapsing intelligence set up an exemption for charities. Unfortunately, if a marketing company can say they are working on behalf of a recognized charity, the marketing company is exempt from those rules. Meaning that you can get calls at 2:00 am regardless what time zone you are in and they are "legal" as far as the current legislation allows. Granted a reputable charity would not allow such aggressive behavior as calling after 9:00 pm local time, but remember, it is a third party marketing company that is calling you, not the charity itself.

So, again, I almost agree with not donating to any charity that hires a marketing firm to make cold calls. Just do what many others have commented: give only to the charity of your choice and by means that you are comfortable with. Cold calling about anything will always result in slammed phone, door or whatever.

I had already entered area code 914 to my call blocker as a result of similar nonsense months ago so I was undisturbed by this new batch of parasites.

Do yourselves a favor folks and get a call blocker.  Sell a kidney and/or first-born if you must. :-)   I used money that I might have otherwise contributed to annoying political parties and charities.  After the constant calls, I decided to put the money to better use.  The resulting absence of annoying calls is worth it.

Caller ID identified this number as MOD - have no idea who it is.  Oh, it just dawned on me, it maybe the March of Dimes.  Called early Sunday morning and again this morning.  Also had another one with different last digits.  Rings 3 times then hangs up.  No message on answerig machine.

Thank God for Caller ID. I never answer ANYTHING I don't recognize including the ones I get from these douch*bags.

I thought I was done with these 914 numbers but they're back.  They never give up, just keep changing their numbers.  Please get them to stop!

We have gotten calls from 914-294-2431, 914-294 4086, 914-294-4088 in 3 days. The Caller ID comes up as MOD, which is through my research  is the March of Dimes out of NY. IT IS A SCAM, THESE PEOPLE DO NOT REPRESENT THE MARCH OF DIMES.   BEWARE!!

I too got a call, so I called the March of Dimes national office.  I was told they are telemarketers working for MOD, and that if you want your number removed call the national office at 914-997-4565 and they will take care of it.

MOD is aware of what the telemarketers are doing, and they have complained to them to stop it, but obviously it is continuing.  So, make the call to the national office and complain and perhaps those in senior management may finally get the picture and do something about it.

It is a telemarketer who was hired by the March of Dimes. I contacted the national head quarters of the March of Dimes and they are aware of this. They also advised there have been numerous complaints and they are trying to correct this with the telemarketer.

They call at least twice a day, never leave message

Caller ID says MOD and I believe this is March of Dimes. They have called constantly for years and sent more junk mail than would be expected of any legitimate charitable organization. The percentage of donations wasted on these efforts is substantial but it does pay for a few hefty salaries and contributions pay for the nuisance calls we all receive. Never leaves a message and they have several numbers that you must block to end their annoying calls.

Right, March of Dimes does have a robodialer and they don't send tons of junk mail either. They are the lowest of the bottom feeder  telemarketers using a once reputable charity to rake in the cash. Take a closer look.

Caller said they were March of Dimes.  Good cause, remember the contractors always get a huge percentage of donations.  Donate directly of your choice.
