Bill Gates from Micro-Soft called and said that my computer had a virus that was messing up the internet.
I asked how he new that and "Bill" answered his "Internet Backbone Analyzer" had pinpointed the problem and it was coming from my house! Interesting I replied, as I do not own a computer due to the fact that I don't have any arm or legs and a burlap bag for a body. Bill hung up on me- Caller: Micro Soft

- RComplete Indian sweatshop scam team. You can hear all their fellow cohorts in the background... all after one thing. Your personal, social-security, credit card, and banking information. They will drain your accounts and steal your identity.
They will call you up telling you they are from Microsoft and that they are calling because there are Microsoft services that should be running on your computer that are not. When I asked what services, he told me they were the "Application Gateway Service" and the "Application Identity Service".
He then went on to tell me that these service were probably stopped due to a software patch and they were tasked to reach out to customers to fix the issue.
I continued to entertain him and he asked me to hit the Windows Key + R button on my keyboard which will bring up the "Run" box. He then wants you to type in iexplore which will open a web browser. He will then give you a website to go to so that your computer can get infected and give them complete remote access to your system. The website will install a keylogger so they can see everything you type and upload it to a server. It will also open a backdoor to your computer so they can sift through all your files on your hard disk.
I then asked him if he was from Microsoft support - he should know my name - which he could not tell me. He also couldn't tell me what OS I was running. I purposely kept this guy on the line to take up his time and slow him down from calling other gullible people.

- HelenI have received numerous phone calls over the last week that everyone else has commented on. I kept them on the phone with questions of my own for a few minutes. I asked them what information my computer was sending out over the internet and to whom it was sending it to. I also asked him if he would give me the steps to fix my computer. He would not give me any information unless I turned on my computer. I then asked why my caller ID said it was the phone number of an 87 year old doctor in New York. He said that Carl Lewis was sponsoring the company he worked for. I then asked what company that was. He couldn't give me a name. He said Microsoft had told them about the problem of my computer leaking information onto the main servers on the internet. What servers was he talking about? He couldn't tell me. I finally told him this was wrong because I didn't have windows. He became upset and asked me why I was wasting his time. I laughed and said why was he wasting my time with false information and calls day after day. He then hung up on me. I know I didn't stop him or find out anything that you all haven't pointed out on this website. However maybe he didn't contact someone else during that time that he could have really scammed. Plus it was interesting to see what frustrated him when he was confrounted with the descrepancies in his information.
