I am surprised the police actually did their jobs and filed the report.  Austin Police Department is worthless, see this YouTube Video regarding the Windows scammers (three way call to Austin Police Department) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXxbYwZ_KPU

Terrorists are welcome in Austin, TX.  Barney Fife could do a better job in Austin.

They just called & didn't leave a message.  Thanks again DoNotCall.gov…  You are nearly as stellar as Obamacare…  You should expand & get those Obamacare folks to re do your website so we can get rid of more surplus tax dollars.

Not all old people are unaware as mentioned above. I had many calls from the same number in the past two weeks. Today I answered one, just for the fun of it. The caller ID showed the 914-819-0445 number and VONAGE HOLDINGS. The caller went into his usual line, as many of you stated, obviously reading from a scripted line. He really hated my interrupting his script by asking "What did you say, I cannot understand you?" Then he would just start from the beginning each time, like that would be easier to understand. After about 10 minutes of making him repeat himself, he gave up. I am sure that SOB will not be calling me back. It was fun for me. DON'T MESS WITH OLD PEOPLE. WE WILL MESS YOU UP.

I got a call from this number today. I have caller ID and I did not answer. When I see these telemarketing numbers on my caller Id i always check the 800notes website to see who they are.  These people are scamers. It was on the tv news last week where they took over a persons computer and tried to get him to pay a fee so he could get back in his computer. He did not pay. He had a someone  to fix his computer.

they are telemarketers - they don't even listen when they call because they keep getting my voicemail and start talking like there is someone on the line even though my message clearly states it is my voicemail, then when they realize no one is responding, they hang up.

This May be Part of the Scam
Every few years we start getting these calls as soon as some types of computer malware protection run out.
We have also been hit by the 'FBI has locked down your computer' scam, and had computer pros update our virus protection.
If any of these callers could be understood over the phone, they might have a chance of succeeding.
When we tell them that news of this scam has been posted in our local newspaper's Business section, they switch scripts.
Someone who teaches ESL should tell these poor foreign refugees that this is not legitimate employment in the USA.
A retry of the incoming phone number says that it is no longer in service.

This is an obvious scam.  Indian guy just called and said there are reports of our computers running slow and he is going to walk me through fixing it.  The call keeps breaking up and so I say no thank you.  He proceeds to say "F. off".

    they're baaaaacck…
after not hearing from them for awhile, they just called. and then while i was looking up the # to remind myself which ones they are, they phoned back again. i let it ring - but after just a couple rings, the phone suddenly read "line in use" for about 15 seconds, then disconnected. that's new to me… could these scammers be throwing some sort of signal through your hung-up phone to grab info somehow? that sounds really dumb & paranoid as i read it… but is it possible? it really bothers me that i do not know how my line could somehow be "in use" when i haven't answered the call. especially since in the past few weeks several someones in other countries keep trying to hack into certain of our computer accounts. it seems to me the crooks are doing SOMETHING new- and could the two possibly be related??
    Anyone know anything about this?

Its a scam and all they want is your money! They have no way of knowing whats going on with your computer and No legitimate company cold calls like this.  The scam usually entails them taking you to your event viewer which is a internal monitor that logs events on your computer.. Oh sure, you will see the error's logged, but its all a scam to get you to allow them access to your computer. The event viewer is only doing its job and its there for a real tech to look through should you actually have a problem. Then they want remote access! They usually turn your anti virus program off  and give you a big spiel, then inform you they want a small fee to fix it.. several hundred dollars of course! Meanwhile, they have access to all your computer and could be gleaning personal info, downloading stuff to your computer to turn it into a zombie computer to spam folks..

Here is another number for the same scam.  567-214-9999

They call me about every hour, I've never answered the phone for these numbers but they won't stop calling.  I may answer and when I talk to someone, I'll ask them to wait a second and just lay the phone down and see how long they will stay on the phone.

    S0- the plot thickens…
what i would really like to find out is whether they can do this remote login thing WITHOUT your having even picked up the phone??
when they have called us (thankfully not in a couple weeks), i have seen more than one occasion the phone screen reads "Line In Use" EVEN THOUGH I NEVER ANSWERED THE CALL.  which makes me quite nervous…

I got the call today.  Very thick accent, could barely understand him but he was telling me that my computer was putting out illegal information and that my windows needed something fixed.  Had some verbal fun with him then told him that I really knew it was a scam, I don't use windows and he should quit trying to blow smoke up my azz.  That confused him!  Anyway, need to report this!  Just have fun and mess with them, drives them nuts!

These people have been bothering me for a long time now!!!
they call about my computer, telling me that there is something wrong with it! I didn't want to listen to them so, one time they told me to go to hell. Today, when I told them to, please, quit calling us or I would report them to a federal office, the guy told me I was a [***]!!!
Can you do anything about these people. They all have an accent from India and I am tired of this.
