- Katima replies to ughI got the same call with the same automated message. The good news is that I've found a way to stop 95% of unwanted phone calls that I was receiving! My phone provider (TWC) is offering customers a *select forwarding* option. That means I'm able to automatically forward telemarketer numbers (such as this 914-935-3532 number) right on over to a different Telemarketer number! And since most phone providers can only offer up to 30 phone numbers you can block, the select call forwarding option is way better because there is NO limit! Lastly- I've also received a phone call from the supposed American Cancer Society today as well. But when I called the American Cancer Society, they told me that they do donation drives late in the fall. (Around the holidays) I talked to them about my concern insofar as the number one phone scam that is generated from people who identify themselves as being from the American Cancer Society! I said the age of donating money via people calling them is OVER due to the scams. The Rep said he agreed and they (American Cancer Society) is even cutting way back on the calling method to raise funds! The other good thing that came about, is that when you call the American Cancer Society, you can request your number be removed as well. So now I know, (without a shadow of a doubt) anyone who calls me and identifies themselves and being from American Cancer Society is SCAM! ; )

cheat you've already been referred to by a friend or family member we have a system waiting to be shipped out to you press one now to receive your personal medical alert system again press 1 now to receive your personal medical alert system press 9 to opt out - WendyReceived on cellphone at 10:40a this morning. Saw the call come in and declined it since I don't know anyone from Port Chester, NY. Robocall about a personal medical alert system with options to press numbers to accept the call or 9 to opt out, like that would ever happen. This will become just another one of the dozens of blocked calls on my iPhone, which I swear now has more blocked calls than contacts these days. Idiots ...

- MadameReceived call, left message that someone recommended me for medical alert. SCAM. We are on the DNC list....it doesn't do any good. You can bet the telephone company knows who they are and why is the telephone company never held responsible for issuing these numbers.

- REMYCaller ID "9149353532" ... MAR. 4 around 12:00pm Eastern time. This call ended after one ring. It may have been blocked by a free service I subscribe to which is available to most Internet-based VoIP phone service users(I have Time Warner which now lets you select this free service via your account sign-on - see MY PHONE and Call Privacy). Google "no more robocalls" to get more information.

- Captain Obvious replies to Tired of solicitationsThese calls aren't made by telemarketers. They aren't giving away or selling anything. They are CRIMINALS, and at some point will probably ask you for your credit card info (for a small shipping charge) or your Medicare number (which is your Social Security number). Once you give them the info they need to steal your money and identity, they are done with you. Do you honestly think that CRIMINALS will obey the DNC list? Do you think CRIMINALS will come here and read your post and stop calling you? If they did come here, how would they know who you are? Duhhhh

- roxLeft a voice mail which of course is just an accident when the robo call doesn't know that voicemail has taken over. It was about the medical alert system. I was going to see how many of those I have saved as spam alert but there are too many to count.
This is only my personal generic information about unwanted calls. I am only trying to help out here (to those naysayers who complain about my long winded rant).
Telemarketers
We do not have to be nice to these people .................... If you don't take my advice of not answering the phone, when they start to talk just reply politely in your sweetest voice: NO THANK YOU and HANG UP. That's what I do.
"YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING".
DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS (If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know, number not on this great web site, just call them back).
DON’T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED! (When you press the number to have your number removed, you confirm that your number is a working number and your known active number is sold to another scammer).
ROBO CALLS: There are 800 area codes with 9,999,999 numbers. Since Robots call every number in succession, they don't need to buy lists from anyone. The FTC receives 250,000 to 300,000 complaints per month, with robocalls responsible for around 60% of those complaints.
TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HOME PHONE: block, use call forward selective to 216-025-0434 (gives them a recording saying its disconnected) , or save calls to a phone address book as spam with a description (spam medical, spam alert, spam microsoft), and continue using this great site for information. MY HOME PHONE (Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth® KX-TGH263B LCD/2 Handsets) BLOCKS 250 NUMBERS AND THE ADDRESS BOOK HOLDS 3,000 numbers and the phone talks to you and says spam from across the room (like if you are up on a ladder or disabled). As of September 2015 I have saved 313 names as spam and don't answer them.
TELEMARKETING: (and I quote) "The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and found that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3% in some cases)
Not only that but reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.
So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually personally know the person calling." (My information adding to this from CNN is: http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/19/us/scam-charity-investigation/- Caller: only phone number
