- Bigmomma| 2 repliesGot two calls from this number today and the guy actually left a detailed message. So, it's just another Indian dude pretending to be from the Attorney General's Office. He asked for a Jason Brown (that's not me) and threatened poor, invisible Jason with "dire consequences" if he didn't return the call immediately. He even quoted the last four digit of poor Jason's Social Security number to prove just how serious he is about all this. The guy deserves an Oscar nomination for his tough guy cop acting skills..ha! I've decided to have some fun with him and call him back pretending to be Jason's grandma. So far the line has been busy, but I'm going to keep trying. I figure if I can keep him busy talking to a hard of hearing, frightened old lady for a while, that will keep him from bothering someone else. Wish me luck...this is going to be fun!

- JoanneGot the same call. A very heavy Indian accent and he stated his name was attorney Steve Wilson. LOL! After I stopped laughing I asked what he wanted. He said he was with the Sacramento city attorney's office and he went on and on about how the sheriff's were going to come and arrest my son (My son is 13 and was a victim of ID theft, so someone took out a payday loan using my son's information). I asked him why a city attorney's office would be calling consumers for a debt. They are attorney's for city workers. He got upset and said he is sending someone over right now. I told him I would be waiting.
I also called the Sacramento DA's office (I work for attorney services DT LA and have contacts up there) I told a colleague in the Sac. DA's office what happened and she is going to do something about them. The jokes on them. They should really be careful who they talk to.- Caller: Sacramento city attorney

- Alfalfa replies to Diana VasquezThis is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

- Alfalfa replies to ----Let them know the next time they call your employer has tapped his/her phone lines and the FBI and Department of Homeland Security is monitoring the calls. Be sure and let your employer know you are being targeted by overseas criminal extortionists. Print off this thread and give it to them if you need to.

Very thick Indian accent to the point of not being able to pronounce my name. He said he was from the State Attorney's office and that there was illegal activity taking place with my social security number. He stated the last four digits of my social (scary!) and told me that it was urgent that either myself or my attorney call back immediately. He said if I did not call him back today that I he would retain an attorney...which makes no sense if he is calling from the state attorney's office. He then said if I didn't call back all he could do was wish me luck with my future endeavors. I blocked the number on my iPhone as he called repeatedly this morning. For sure a scam based on all of these comments - cowgirlYea I got the same message this morning on my cell phone. texted him back and said go to hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry!!! but they are so stupid, this Is my last chance, A guys with deep Indian Accent Albert was his name. I turned it over to my attorney of record. I work for the Federal Government. Its a scam.
