This is Verizon doing a short follow-up survey after you have used their Customer Help feature. They only want to know how well the agent handled the problem or request. It is a free call -no minutes used . I had a great experience with my agent Frank and was more than happy to answer the few automated questions.

caller from verizon stated that my last phone bill did not go through and that my phone will be knocked off unless I make a payment.  I checked with Verizon and this is not correct; I was up to date with all payments.  The caller asked for my payment card and foolishly I gave it to her.  However I called my credit card company and immediately blocked my card  as I was suspicious.so no charges could be made. BE CAREFUL!!  This is SCAM.

I had just got off the phone with Verizon to change my password because someone hacked into my "MyVerizon" and tried to order a new phone on my account. Then I get a call from this number. I answered it and it said Verizon Survey, I hung up. I called the Verizon fraud line and they told me scammers get customers personal info by pretending to be from Verizon doing surveys. She assured me this is a SCAM.

Saw number pop up but didn't answer.

After reading the comments, I wonder how scammers can follow up so soon (minutes?) after a legit Verizon customer interaction. That is something verizon should be very concerned about.  Also, thanks to all of you who take the time to get on this site. Your posts really help prevent crime and annoyance.

Don't  beat yourself up too bad over this. We were raised to be (somewhat) trusting of our fellow humans. These scammers take advantage of our trusting nature. They will have to answer one day to a higher authority.

That just now happened to me...called Verizon with a question, and about two minutes later this number called. Didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. Screen just said "California."

This is not a scam I called it back it was Verizon and the ONLY questions I was asked were regarding customer service to rate on a 1-10 and  if I was satisfied with the result of my call to customer service. Not a real person and no personal information was asked. I don't know how those other people got a scam as I call Verizon a lot about our phones and service as we have many services with them and I always get a call from this # right after I call and have NEVER been asked for any personal information.

You are missing the point. Caller Id is easily faked. Very easily. You cannot assume the person calling you is who they say they are. Calling a number back, without verifying that number first, is not a good idea. A phone number given to you in an email, fax, text, voicemail, could be anyone.

This just happened to me, too. I called Verizon with a billing question and not 2 minutes after hanging up I got a call from this number. I never EVER answer ANY call not listed in my contacts. I couldn't care less about missing a Verizon survey call. Rule of thumb: If I don't recognize the number I swipe left to dismiss the call. If it's important, the caller will try again. If they call back I let it go to VM THEN after I listen to the message I DECIDE whether to call back or not. 98% of the time these calls are scams or just plain nuisance.

I, too, had just gotten off the phone with Verizon customer service when I received a call from this number. (I can't confirm. I didn't know the number, so didn't answer.)

Some people said it really was a legitimate Verizon survey, some said it was a scam, but as far as I'm concerned, if Verizon REALLY wants to do customer satisfaction surveys, they need to step into the 21st Century. When someone calls customer service and (finally!) manages to make it through the labyrinth of voice menus to speak to an actual person, after our call is transferred over, before a rep even answers, we should get an announcement asking if we'd like to stay on the line to take a short customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call. Or at the end of the call, the reps should ask if we'd be willing to take a short survey and directly transfer us to the survey if we say yes. That's how it should be done, especially in this age when scams are so prevalent and companies supposedly want to do everything they can to protect us from them.

(Ironically, I've just received a second call from that number. Didn't answer that one, either. This time a message was left, asking me to call 866-274-0089 within the next 24 hours to take a survey on my Verizon customer service experience. No, I am not calling any strange number. Nope, nope, nope.)

I had just hung up with a Verizon representative who was helping me with unwanted text messages etc when immediately the phone rang with this number 916-589-8603. I did not answer and googled the number and saw these messages. Why will Verizon not warn customers of this number and scam. No problem with a survey if they ask before ending their call.

Verizon should inform their callers that an immediate call back from verizon will be placed to them. I didn't answer either as I didn't recognize the number. I agree with the above post, survey at the end of the call. Or, notify a follow up call will be placed. Geez.

As most of you have mentioned, I too received a call from this California number.  I had calling Verizon re: a billing question. And this number called me twice.  I did not answer and they did not leave a message.  Feeling like it was a scam call......
