"Number not in service..."
About 5 p.m. May 21, 2015 - dewitt| 7 repliesno one said anything I hung up - we need an app to stop these calls
- Caller: none given
- Sammy replies to dewitt| 1 replyHow do they find our numbers?
- zombie replies to Sammythey are cold calling off of a list they purchased from either a bank or some other finacial institution (credit card, store card etc) the "number not in service" is due to these types of companies having multiple lines on a call center.... the out bound parsed numbers are not set up to be rung back, hence that message. (like when you call an 800 number, you cant usually dial directly to the clerk)
- shelley replies to dewittI totally agree. I seem to be getting at least three from new/different number each day. If I do not recognize a number I do not answer. I've been known to answer, but not say anything. Computer activated calls do not transfer to a human unless it hears a voice. Then I know I was not being intentionally called by a person who knows me for a legitimate reason.
- Sher| 2 repliesCalls my home phone and leaves no msg. I recently have been getting at least 3 to 6 unwanted calls a week. There usually is no one on the line, I think they are verifying the number is good to sell. I am on the do not call list. Doesn't seem to work anymore. Has anyone else noticed an increase in unwanted calls? I use to get maybe 1 a month. The only things that is different is I listed my home for sale on Zillows and my number is the contact number. I expect there might be a program reading through the web gathering phone numbers. For those that don't know, caller id can be set to anything the phone owner wants it to be set too. Especially cell phones, on Verizon all you have to do is log into your account on the web, select the option and put whatever you want people to see. Seems unethical to me, but it can say anything.
- rubina| 1 replycalled: 'hello' seniors....recorded message...so sick of this. They are calling from a different phone # every time. I am keeping a list of these phone #'s. 936-495-8708...the other call was on 5/19/2015 from 202-706-5642. What can we do to stop this annoying phone call?????
- Caller: HELLO SENIORS
- Ralph| 1 reply"Hello Seniors"...and I'm only 31! Calls from multiple numbers at least 4 - 8 calls every day!
Everyone needs to file a complaint with the FTC...they DO investigate when they receive enough complaints to spot a pattern.- Caller: LifeWatch USA

- BC Resident replies to Tom R> how can it not be in service if it called me 30 seconds ago.
Welcome to the world of CPE ("Customer Provided Equipment"), such as VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) devices that are similar in size/shape/function to the wired/wireless "router" on your home's computer network.
Such devices can be programmed to show _ANY_ telephone-number and/or Caller-ID information, and that is what the robocaller has done. - BC Resident| 1 replyReceived one of those "Hello, seniors!" calls a few minutes ago.
After I followed their "press 1" instructions, the line went dead, i.e., "hang-up".
Their robo-dialer must be dialing too fast -- in their "pool" of minimum-wage call-center employees, all of them must be "busy with other customers". So, nobody available to pickup.- Caller: Jerks-Are-Us

- Scam Alert replies to Tom R| 1 replyIt's a SCAM, this is why be very careful when you answer these kind of calls, and never give them any of your personal information if they try to sell you something.
These numbers is a one time thing once they call you and you try calling them back it will tell you there number is no longer in service and next call will be another number even if you block them with the number that just called you, this is why be careful when giving them any kind of your information such like never give them your bank accounts numbers, credit card information and never give them your social security information if they ask.
The main thing to remember if you know anyone that are elderly they are the ones you need to watch over they will attack them people the most.
