I'm so glad i don't work in a call center anymore because this type of behavior. Pretty sad what humans have been reduced to, to get so irate and treat their fellow man in such a manner over a minor inconvenience. I will never treat a service rep in a call center the way i was treated when i worked there. I spent my time cleaning up others mistakes and was called every name in the book for situations that were out of my control.

I've used Comcast for a couple of years.  When I call to talk about a technical glitch and almost everyone I've dealt with there, and every person just loves working for Comcast/RoadRunner.  I wish I could say that about DSL.  I've managed most broadband companies and talking to Qwest, for example, I have yet to speak with a qualified technician AND the residential support comes from off-shore and I've also worked supporting DSL for a telco for a couple of years and the equipment that's used in various central offices are old technology.  So don't go blasting at a tech at Comcast because they really want to help you.  And, no, I don't work for Comcast because they don't hire people at my experience level here where I live.

Also for a wide variety of cell phones, there are many moderately priced devices that can be modified and RTFM and if you can't do that, THEN call.

Yeah well my 3G service keeps going to 1X.  Verizon is tweaking the signal, doing load balancing and allegedly updating equipment on our nickles.  Their employees give you the run around on purpose and many, many do not know what they are talking about.  I love it when I catch them in lies, because the previous person doesn't log the history.  Well thanks to their changing my service from great to medicroe, I finally wrote corporate, which is cellco partners that has leased the verison wireless name from verison communications. Check them out on edgar, it is eye opening to get their customers to sign a 2 year agreement and then reduce service on a whim.  Forget about their 911 service; it takes 11 drop calls and 33 minutes to get an ambulance that is 10 minutes away.  Customer service representatives were rude and could care less.  So I have put cellco, verizon communications on notice of liabilty.  For the person told to get another phone, I was told that my cell service would be so good I would no longer need a landline. It was true from june to november when it changes at their whim.  Funny, I just got the call on their survey.  I rate them zero and will not hold my breath waiting for mgr to call.

i called this morning and they have no record of the phone in question being on my account, yet they know it's there when it comes to cutting my bill! and i wasn't asked to take a survey. when you have a question they don't know the answer to, they make something up. they're clueless.

I'm with GG on this one! Lighten up people!!  You really think the people taking these calls make the rules? Uh, no!  I know I don't make the rules at my job, I just do what I'm told.  I'm guessing these tech peeps are just doing the same.  RELAX! Life's too short to stress out and freak out over this little thing :)

Hi all, I too got a call from this number but was on the phone and didn't answer it. I looked it up and found this board. I called Verizon this morning and received very prompt and quick service from Susan. She was knowledgable and competent doing her job. I realize like with anything that there are some customer service workers who don't seem to know what they are doing but for the most part I have had good service from Verizon when I call.
Oh and if you hate going through all that crap when you first call just hit 0, then (# pound) (4 times), and 0 again and you will be automatically put through to a customer service rep.

My only complaints with Verizon are the high costs of service and their inability to give long-time customers a discount as the years go by.

Kaci you are so right. Some people forget or don't care that they're speaking to an actual human being! If people only understood that the person answering their call doesn't have ESP to be able to fix their problem before they explain what it is!!!  And the people complaining about giving their security code to each rep....ummm, it's for their own protection!!!
I've always found the people at Verizon most helpful and always very nice. A little patience goes a long way. The person answering may be new on the job or just not have every answer at the tip of their tongue.
The one post here that actually made me chuckle from (No Longer Loyal Customer replies to vzw tech agent) he/she stated "Oh, and about those reps at the stores...  they refused to help me". With his/her nasty attitude I wouldn't have helped them either!!
Have a nice day Kaci :)

I was making a payment using the MyVerizon application on my phone when suddenly this phone # interrupts my transaction wanting me to take a customer survey about the app. I wasn't even done with my transaction! Bad customer service, if I wanted to take a survey, I would be calling verizon.

I absolutely agree with you 100%!! Yes, it is frustrating when you have a problem with your phone and yes, it is even more frustrating when you call and have to wait on hold. However, if you think of the capabilities of today's cell phones and all the things it does to make our lives easier, that means that there are more possibilities of things going wrong with your phone. As for the reps, THEY ARE JUST DOING THERE JOBS!! Some of them do it better than others, and if you find yourself on the phone with someone that you feel is not helping you, simply ask to talk to someone else with more experience and knowledge of your phone and the issues you are having with it. Is it really worth it to get THIS irritated about a cell phone? I guess if that was the only bad thing that I had to deal with... EVER... than maybe I would get as upset as most of you. However, I have a life, a family, a job and other things that are far more important than dwelling on something that goes wrong with my cell phone and perhaps getting a rep that YOU feel is incapable of helping you. My personal experience with VZW whenever I have had an issue has, for the most part, been pretty good, but maybe that's because I'm pleasant and kind to the HUMAN BEING I end up speaking with. You will get treated in the same fashion that you treat them. Remember that.

Well, I had my ringer shut off today and just noticed this missed call.  Now that I know it is Verizon, I will answer the next time.  They've always been nice to me, I've been a customer forever.  At least they speak English so far. I had an issue with them early Saturday morning which was handled promptly after a 25 minute wait.  Couldn't figure out who would be tying up their phone lines at 12:30 am, but then I was. I had an issue this morning which I called them about, and it too was handled promptly.  Maybe it is just the luck of the draw.  Try calling FTD to fix an issue with a dead plant that arrives!!!!!
