- DCoastal Mitigation (debt collectors) are as low they come. These people are probably drug users and felons who cannot get real jobs. They have debts that cannot be collected on for various reasons. They know this so they try to intimidate you and your family. There is nothing they can do even if you owe the debt. Time has expired on your debt, otherwise they would not be the owners. Talk back to them the way they talk to you. They threaten everything in the book but all they have is their dirty mouths.
They have zero authority over any part of your life and are just trying to get you to break by making rude phone calls. There are several groups out there now who are not going after the company but the individuals. These individuals are wide open to criminal lawsuits and will eventually end up behind bars.
Next time they call, advise them they are being recorded, then anything they say can be used in a courtroom. If they make one threat or say anything inappropriate to any one not included on the debt, they can be held criminally responsible. If they are calling across state borders, their problems only multiply. Anyway, next time they call..just have fun with them...they get excited very easily.- Caller: Worldwide Recoveries

- P-nutDo not give them a penny. If you do you may restart the Statute of Limitations. You do not have to pay them even if you owe the money. If they ask for an attorney it is because an attorney can make money from you to settle for a discount. Do not settle for a discount, you do not have to pay them. The reason they have your debt is because it has already been written off by the credit card company. They are only trying to scam you to pay something that is no longer your responsibility. Report them to the District Attorney and maybe we can get some of these ganster types off the street. They will call other family members. Inform your family of the situation and have them research the number too. There are thousands of complaints out there. Some family members have fun with these people when they call.
They get all bent out of shape so easily. In a short time your debt will run its course and fall off your credit report. They can no longer call you after that.- Caller: Coastal Mitigation/Worldwide Recoveries

- TC replies to WilliamI work in Human Resources for a small construction company in Texas. Just got a call from Dean Perry asking for one of our field employees. He was very persistent. We have more than one person with the first and last name of the person he asked for. When I told him I would not know which one he was looking for, he offered to provide SS# or DOB. Took a message to pass along to the employee; although I did not tell him the person he was looking for worked here the DOB he provided matched one of the employees in question. Goggled the name of the company given, as I usually do when I get calls such as this, and found this site. And as usual I won't be passing along a debt collector's message. I know from personal experience in dealing with a consumer advocate that collectors cannot harrass someone at their place of business or threaten in any way.
- aggravatedI just got a call from these people spoke to a lady name Jenny who claim they were attempting to collect a debt. She transfered me to a guy not sure of his name. Who stated they had been sitting on this for to long and claimed that he would come on my job to serve me. Which is where they called me was my job. Failed to tell what the debt was for I just told them I'm not going to deal with this and hung up the phone. But realized they have been calling my phone but because I didnt recognize the number I never picked up...

- AMThey've called my exmother-in-law and my parent's house phone and my mom's cell phone and left messages for me to call them back at this number. They told my exmother-in-law they knew I lived with her. I've never lived with her but they were adamant that I did. They gave them a case number for me to call back with so I could "request information" and "change my address" so they could have me served.
- ErinGot a call today from a guy claiming to be Dan Perry from Coast Mitigation for my brother who lives out of state. Said he was going to have him served with papers and that I was listed as a contact number. Well, my brother doesn't even know my phone number so that is total BS. Noise in the background sounded like this guy was watching TV - definitely not a business. Hopefully this guy calls back again now that I'm a little smarter about his game.... will definitely have something to say to him.

- Sophisticated Consumer| 3 repliesReceived numerous calls from this company over the past few months. They deceptively use alternating area codes and phone numbers to disguise their identity on caller ID. They sometimes use a prerecord voice message via an IVR asking for you to "retrieve this message" by calling 949-812-4680, not supplying an 800 # as FDCPA requires. They leave voice messages and call with no messages multiple times on the same day, also an FDCPA violation. They do not identify themselves on the recordings or even when you call them, which again is another FDCPA violation. They also block their number when calling as unknown, and a feminine sounding man requests a call back referencing your property address, saying he (or she) has a question about the property address, deceptively alluding to other reasons for the call to prompt you to return the call. I called this company back and spoke with a man who had a heavy Hispanic accent, who was very rude and over talked me. He refused to identify the company or the reason for the calls, laughed and hung up on me. Not even an hour after my contact with this man my wife and I started receiving calls as if we were calling each other. I called our phone company and they confirmed we were victims of "Spoofing". It is a terrible coincidence that right after I called and spoke with this company my wife and I started receiving such calls; especially when this company calls us repeatedly using fictitious numbers that they program into their software in an effort to misrepresent themselves to get you to answer the phone. I also mailed them a certified letter demanding that they Cease and Desist to the address listed and it came back rejected. I called and spoke with the post office in that city zip code and the carrier confirmed that the company in question "refuses to accept certified mail". This is just another example of their deceptive practices. I have filed a complaint with the FTC, Attorney General, and other regulatory agencies. I URGE all of you to file such complaints with regulatory agencies so they will investigate this entity and bring them to justice. There is strength in numbers and we ALL need to fight back! I am not done with them, my attorney is looking into a class action suit as I have already had over 100 people provide my attorney with their contact information to join the class action. FIGHT BACK!!!

- Connie replies to MLBarbI've been receiving daily calls from 877-328-4357. They leave a message that it is the last chance to lower my interest rate. Finally today I was home when the call came, so I was able to speak with a person. Was rude, talked over me, could not give me a valid company name, agreed it was a scam and hung up on me! When I try to see who the number belongs to, it's not a valid number!
- Pissed Off replies to Sophisticated Consumerhello,
i have had the same horrible experience with Coast Mitigation as so many others. I will be filing complaints etc.as you suggested but would very much like to be involved in whatever class action initiative you are working on. I would very much like to provide your attorney with my contact information. Coast was calling me looking for my brother and the behavior of their representatives was appalling and quite frankly ludicrous and absurd. - davidi received a call from 949 812 4684

- magic CMy friend got a call from this number. My friend has had a heart attack and three heart surgeries, and is also on medications, and his health is not good. He is disabled, and unable to work, but has not begun to get his disability benefits yet. My friend answered the call, and was told that he owed a $1000 debt to some credit card, and that he would settle for half that evening. If not, then he would be checking into any seizing any property that my friend had ( which he has none) and that he would be seizing any assets he has ( he doesnt have any) and that he did not care that he was in poor health and unable to work. He then began to say that he would be able to get the money from any of his family that he could possibly find! My friend hung up on him, and he called right back, and this time I answered the phone. I asked who it was, and he gave me a mutter of an answer that I could not understand, and I asked what supposed card he was collecting for, considering that my friend hasnt had a credit card, and after he had his heart attack, I was the one who got his bills paid for him every month and I am the one who took care of all of his mail for him. The man replied that my friend did owe the money, and that he was demanding payment at that moment. I explained to him that my friend had NO money, and the rude SOB said that if he did not receive payment that night, that he would be sending police officers over that evening to arrest my friend and put him in jail!!! I got extremely angry and upset at this, and he would not let me speak, he kept interrupting me and then I got extremely angry and then he hung up with a warning of "he had tried to help my friend, but he would be going to jail". This man--this so called what--attorney?--is nothing but a lying and thieving thing! I called the FTC right after I got off the phone with him, and I also called my state's consumer protection agency. The FTC said that he COULD NOT get my friend arrested, and that he would have to go through a whole judicial system if he wanted to try to collect, but to the FTC rep it sounded like a scam. If anyone knows how I can help my friend with this any further, please let me know!!

- magic october replies to ANAWALT LUMBERI live in WV, and we got a call from him last night. We spoke to the FTC, The WV Consumers Protection Agency last night afterwards, and today the WV Attorney General spoke to us personally on the phone. This guys--or people, I should say--are scam artists, and the Atty Gen. knew the number well. I have some info from him , and if all goes well, these guys will hopefully soon be out of business for good! This gut CANNOT send any police officers, nor can they get papers served. Either the debt they claim to be collecting for is not valid, or it does not belong to you, or it is so many years old that it can no longer be collected on. I have searched and searched this since I was told this by the Atty Gen, and I can find of no place here on the internet stating that papers were ever served on anyone these people were threatening. When i spoke to this fool last night, I got very angry, and when he realized that he could not intimidate me, he hung up on me. Not to say that he will not call us again, because he may. Its according to how foolish he is I suppose. I read on another post on another site other than this that if you snap back at them, they will hang up because they feel they cannot intimidate you and will give up. They will have your social security on hand possibly, and quote it back to you, and then tell you that they will take your personal property from you, send you to jail, collect the money from your family, ect ect ect. DO NOT let them intimidate you! DO NOT give them ANY personal info, do not agree with your social security number, DO NOT agree with them when they state your address to you for verification so they can "send an officer to arrest you". When they first come on the phone, they sound like a friend calling. They do not use "mister" or Mrs" or anything. They will chat and use your first name and ask how you are doing today. Then they go for the throat! You can hang up on them, but they will come back. Call the FTC in Washington, DC, then call your state Consumer Protection Agency. The BBB will not handle any cases for us here in WV about this, but the FTC and the CPA will. Also, contact the FBI. yes, the FBI--this word came from the Atty Gen himself. PLEASE contact the FBI !! Believe me
