I am getting calls repeatedly from this # and another # 212 area code from BCR a collection agency and I do not owe anyone.

Wow, wrong all the way around.  I guess I'm not surprised.  It is a debt collector's job to follow the law if they want to get paid.  Howevr, since these bottom feeders are usually going after bills that are past the statute of limitations (see http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml) then you really don't still owe it at all.  It is a debt collector's job not to be rude or harass, nor to try to collect debts not longer viable by using illegal techniquest.  Suggest you log and sue.  Then they pay you.

I believe it is contingent upon state rules how certain things can be handled but I do know that there is a federal act that give people rights and responsibilites... Fair Credit Collection Act! Read up on it.
These companies gave out money like its candy to people who really couldnt afford it and then went secretly through the government for money.. as we are now finding out that $13BILLION of our countries money went to getting these idiots out of trouble and they have the nerve to HOUND US? I pay my bills... it may not always be what THEY want but it is paid. non the less when a company accepts your money (check, billpay, paypal etc) the collection companies no longer have any leverage. Certain states have regulations that protect but the idiots dont care because they are "calling" from a different state. I, frankly let callers know that if they business is not based in Texas, is calling from outside of Texas, or the main company has been accepting money from me they are S.O.L.
One question I have is this: Picture this - I was unemployed about 5 months, fell behind on payments for a state local timeshare, was paying $50 a month ($200/m usual pmt), they called my PARENTS and stated they got their number from my NEIGHBOR.... first, my neighbors DONT have my number AND why and how are they bugging my parents??? Then to top it all off... they were calling my work cell AND house phone SIMULTANEOUSLY 4 to 9 times a DAY!!! THEY WERE HARASSING MY KIDS!!!! (all under 18 at that time but on family plan phones) Fair Credit Collection Act infringement... told them that AND that I was recording AND documenting ALL calls AND sending report to POLICE! Didnt stop them until!.... I said "Im calling my lawyer now and you all will be owing ME $250 PER instance on my credit report for EACH infringement AND harassment! All of a sudden a very polite and calm "supervisor" was swooning me for a "payment"....hmmmm sorry - I told him... you all should have thought of THAT when your vultures where trying to tear out my liver through the phone.... BTW .... I laughed everytime they "threatened" me over the phone with the barragement of indecent unprofessionalism.

Funny, they called me this morning and when I called back they hand up on me the first time and I called again and the lady was very rude.  So to her surprise I know how to be rude also.  I ask her where I was calling and she responde "BCI, what do you want??",  I told her, I don't know you call me... and do me a favor if you do not know who to talk to people dont dial my number anymore....  She got mad and hang up....  Maybe this will make them stop calling me.  ;)

Phone number with no ID.

All of a sudden getting calls from this company.. now there calling from other random numbers, they don't leave a message, they just hang up and call back around the time I guess they think someone is home.. I already changed my number before due to MORONS calling on weekdays, Early Morning and the weekend, and HOLIDAYS!!!.. JUST CRAZY.. this need to stop and stop now...

they called me a few times. I missed the first one. The second call, a lady verified my name then immediately had me on hold for like 10, 20 seconds. I hung up but they kept calling me for the third time.

This number called me and I wasnt sure who it was and called them back they would not disclose any information to me or tell me what company they were. They said they could not disclose that information. It was REALLY weird, then they wanted me to give them the phone number I was calling from. NO THANKS. Weirdo's... I'm not giving you [***].

Early this morning, this number just rang once & stopped. I got up to check online where this number originated. Thank you for this site - I got the verification now. But I have never answered any number not in my list, anyway.

So far they only called once (looking for someone who may have had my cell number 4-5 years ago before ATT gave it to me) and the person I spoke to was surprisingly polite and agreed to take me off their list.

These people call me about once a week. I am retired and have no debt.
I am tired of their calls.

Called this business looking for someone who left here more than 6 years ago. Only junk debt collectors do this, using such out-of-date information.

FWIW: the caller was very polite when informed that the person they were seeking is not here.

Be careful you may not really owe any money. there are lots of debts that are false or uncollectable.

You did the right thing. Never but never let them have a credit card number or a bank account number. never let them set up automatic payments, they are not to be trusted.

get a life. I have had this # for 10 years and have no idea who the person is they keeping asking for. Now when they call I say hold on and I fart loudly into the phone and say "Did ya smell that one". I said call anytime since I have no idea who this person is

Calling my cell phone every day for my daughter and they said we will not stop calling you.
