Female caller asked for the Maintenance Manager's name so she could send a catalog. I told her we were not interested(we don't use catalogs, they end up in the trash). She told me that their catalogs are sent by request only  and that she had received a card requesting a catalog be sent, but she could not read the signature. I asked for the company name on the card, and this confused her, but she rattled off our company's legal name rather than the DBA. The people in maintenance who do the purchasing only use the DBA. I repeated that we were not interested, thanked the caller, and hung up.
Our maintenance manager does not do the purchasing of chemicals, so this was suspicious to begin with.

Unfortunately, I transferred this woman...
When I answered the phone, she said she wanted to speak to "Bob C."...we don't have a Bob, but we do have a Mike...so I figured she got the first name wrong.  It gave me an uneasy feeling to transfer the call, but I also know that the person I transferred to would be unlikely to pick up and she would get his voicemail.
I then came here to look up the phone number on the caller id to see if others had experience with this number.
Glad I checked.  This number is going on my block list.

A young lady said she was with Universal Solutions and wanted to verify my address so they could send the latest catalog and brochures.  I asked what her product line was and she said it was a wide line of cleaning and maintenance products.  I said I had all the contacts I needed and that I would pass on the opportunity.  I have received calls from this place, and others like it, before and they operate similar to what is described in the rest of the this thread.  They might offer you a sample, but it is not a FREE sample, the invoice will show up later and I am told they will resist trying to offer a refund or canceling the order.  They claim they can't send the sample free because it gets lost or used up and no one wants to pay.  In times past they have tried hard to get me to say yes to the sample; today they weren't as persistent.

This is the 3rd year they have called, asking for Maintenance Managers name so they can send the "new brochure".

This is a Scam company. Caller ID says United States Chemical. The person you talk to is from Universal Solutions which is just a front for Chem USA. Universal Solutions list there mailing address as a PO box.
