Calling to offer me a credit card deal and want my information

called at 2:42 pm. Called ID said "New Jersey." left message about credit card and lower interest rates. another telemarketer to block.........sigh

Was called at 0903..left no message..tried calling back and the line was not in service

The office is located in Orlando Fla and they hire mostly illegals to get personal and financial information then steal from your accounts.

I received a call 9/26/13 at 9:12 AM EST on my cell phone from this number, Bloomfield, NJ, wanting to lower my credit card rate to 6%. He said that I had over $3500 in credit card debt.  I told him I did not and he said combined I do.  First of all, I have one $3000- 5 year same as cash debt... that is 0% interest over 5 years.  Second, I have one $800- 6 months same as cash debt... again 0 % interest.  Why in the world would I want to raise it to 6%?  We were disconnected after asked him who he was and who he was affiliated with.  I'm positve this is a scam.

Called 9-25-13 while I was in appt., I called number back and my call was not answered. Glad to know there is a site like this for me to investigate call origins and purposes.

Called 7/18/2014 @ 115pm MST - was called, answered phone, person calling kept talking in a foreign language to other people in the room, when I said hello again they hung up, tried calling back and # is disconnected.

called 7/21/14 @ 2:03pm mst - didn't answer, looked here, reported to spam via Mr Number Android  app.

These jerks just called my cell phone ILLEGALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't answer the phone from unknown callers!!!

Robocall offering to help lower interest rate.

Just had a call from this number (973-748-1997) - on my cell phone- didn't answer as I always screen.  Was wondering who would be calling from NJ.

Another bogus call from "your card services" advertising lower interest rates on credit card purchases.  I have ONE credit card (AMEX) which I pay off, in full, every month.  I have NO interest rate!  

Looks like a bunch of us got "hit" today. Jane, I'm interested in that app. It's called "Mr Number" ?

This board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive.  There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers.  In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!  It doesn’t do any good to complain about a caller on this board unless you then take the next step and do something about it!  The caller ID number is usually a ‘Spoof Number” – A Fake!  Never, never, ever engage the caller or call back the number.  The false robocallers will then capture your number as a ‘live one’ and use it over and over and sell it to other scammers.  The same goes if it prompts you to ‘press a key’ to ‘opt out’  of their calling lists, or be transferred to someone, as this will only ‘log’ your number as a working one and make it ripe for future calls and to be sold to other scam companies as well.
The best option is simply to hang up, keep your own list of calling numbers with dates and times and report them to the FCC below.  There is space on their complaint form to list several calling dates and times of a repeat caller.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC.  If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it.  Do it today and pass along the info:

Called and offered to lower my credit card.. I told them that I dont have a credit card and was instantly disconnected.

got a call while I was driving from 973-748-1997.  Naturally I did not answer due to driving but when I reached my office I googled it.  They called my cell phone illegally.  I dont know who they are.  They did not leave a message so I do not return unknown callers at all.  I dont deal with debt collectors over the phone either.  strictly by mail.  So if this is a debt collector they are on my s__t list.  Dont answer this number.  From all i have read it is a scam.

Call showed "New Jersey". I answered without saying hello (a trick I use, wait for your friends to say hello instead), heard absolutely nothing, then an automated click. Suspected as much, confirmed here. Thanks 800notes!
